Why We left Jehovah's Witnesses 

I remember being so sad and exhausted. 7 days a week no break from the Borganization. Pressured to be out in service both Saturdays and Sundays. Studying every other day and meetings every other day was never enough. They monitor, gossip and report everything you do. The truth sets you free, it doesn't bind you to the craziness. Man that was refreshing to see, a young couple that woke up with an entire life ahead of them, this cult is crumbling. The internet is forever and too much info is out.

The ExJW YT community is now a huge support group! I wish it was around 20+ years ago, but glad it’s here today (in the real last days)!

I grew up JW. We understand the Cult mentality of it now thatcwexare out. When I met my now husband (20yrs married as if yesterday 🙌🏾). He was Baptist and when we talked about the Bible, tge beliefs we're that different. I was told it was "a slap in the face to Jehovah" by visiting another church for MY understanding. We are now Nondenominational and BIBLE Believers!

I wish my Mother was living to see this information about the Kingdom Hall, It brings tears to my eyes watching this video, I have no family where I live only the friends at the Kingdom Hall

My husband and I woke up a year and half ago at the age of 49 and 50. Everything you said is so true! We had all the same questions that couldn't be answered. I am so grateful for the "apostate" You Tube Videos that helped wake us up all the way. Cheers to you two!

I think the biggest wake up call for me was when I asked my mom about new light. I simply asked if the information or understanding that we had 20 years ago no longer rings true due to new light, was it ever really true to begin with. She said at the time it was.....I stopped her right there and said ...hang on...if you told me 20 years ago that the grass was blue and now we find out due to new understanding that the grass was green then our original understanding was wrong from the get go! When I saw her mental gymnastics to justify this, a light bulb went off and I questioned everything from that day on. I also asked here about the new light teaching that if Jehovah gave the bible writers holy Spirit to write the bible and there was any question about what he would have needed to put down on paper, then why does Jehovah's channel now a days need new light or new understanding. You never read of Moses asking God....hey what did you mean by this or did you really want me to put this down in writing!? Holy Spirit told em what to exactly write down. If they had holy Spirit they should have never been a misunderstanding in what he was trying to convey to his audience.

One of my husbands sister and kids are JW, they tried to convert me twice, I am a follower of Christ and I am so happy I studied Gods word extensively for myself. My question was "If the Watchtower started in 1881 what happen to the believers before that? They couldnt give me an answer. Any organization that states they are the only way, .............run for your life 🏃 there is only one way and that is through Jesus Christ. That's right do your research.

I was disfellowshipped in February 2017 and got reinstated in late 2019 (because I had a point to prove). I lost a lot of "friends". Maybe because I was now 'tainted' in their eyes? (Even though they did not know the whole story of me being disfellowshipped.) They always boast about 'love' and how this is one of the trademarks of the organization, but I can tell from firsthand experiences... yeaaah... you might want to curb that enthusiasm a little. Anyway, at the moment I'm pretty much 'inactive'. Oh, and they gossip, alright... a LOT. There is a lot I can say, but I won't, because then I'll be writing a book. Let's just say I recognize and relate to a lot of what you guys said in your video. BUT... I will say this. I have/had very close friends in the US and I've been there 4 times. I noticed that JW's in the US are WAY worse than JW's in European countries. They are easily "shocked" (or pretend they are), they act a lot "holier" and the virtue signaling is very strong with them. This is also why I really can't stand those JW Broadcastings. It's incredibly cringy to me. It's not sincere. Just a bunch of theocratic robots. I remember the 'Love Never Fails' convention in 2019. We had delegates from all over the world and the brothers in The Netherlands were asked to shave off their beards, as not to "stumble" the delegates from the US. Um, Charles Taze Russell, anyone? Jesus Christ? Ok, just one more thing. Luke 23:39-43. Jesus said to one of the criminals: "Truly I tell you today, you will be with me in Paradise." Tell me, how many Watchtowers did that criminal study before his execution? How many hours did he spend in the ministry? How many Bible studies did he have? Yet, Jehovah's Witnesses want to make you feel guilty if you do not live up to their taxing demands. But whose words carry more weight? The words of Jesus or the words of a bunch of imperfect men? Something to think about, right?

The internet allows you to realise your not alone in your thoughts and we are always in a process of learning #~#sadly JW`s suffer from a type of arrogance and cannot accept they are wrong ~~#

I was afraid to watch any videos, but then in 2019, Leah Remini’s Scientology video woke me up like a splash of cold water. I saw the similarities and started binge watching all kinds of different viewpoints. No more armageddon nightmares, no more guilt, no more wasted time, no more fear.

Pray you both stay grounded. There are a lot of stuff going on in this culture. I know a lot of JWs when they leave they go wild and get into a lot of unsafe activities so please stay focus. You’re a beautiful couple. Still keep God as head of your life. I left for good during COVID now worshipping at another Church because for me it was not about the Kingdom Hall it was about God

Wow you guys did such a great job on this video! Bravo to you! What's great about Jehovah is if you want to really get to know him, you don't have to be a Jehovahs's Winess to do it. I left home at 14 (grew up 3rd generation JWish) because I was asking questions and studying Islam at the time. I actually searched for God in many religions. I do not consider myself religious at this point. I have gone back to my non denominationational church that I love. I do have a wonderful relationship, with an awesome God! Jehovah gave us freedom of choice for good reason. I wish you nothing but blessings on your journey. I'm sooo excited for you! You guys are a beautiful couple. I got disfellowshipped and I was remorseful too. I struggled with how they made their decisions on who to disfellowshiped. It wasn't fair how they did things which further clued me in that Gods Holy Spirit is not with the Witnesses

I love this. It’s like talking to old friends. I’ve been out for a few years now and it is the HAPPIEST i have been. My husband and I also question everything and can actually critically think too! I also got a nose ring and my mom was appalled.

So happy to see folks making it out. Seems I don’t watch these types of vids anymore. Think its because if you aren’t too damaged you can go on living your life uninterrupted. And they don’t show in my algo like it did 10 yrs ago…but every now and again I like to see what fresh ones out learned. Congrats! Life is so amazin and living more abundantly like Jesus said. when i was like 10 or something - 60 years ago - i remember several of the remnant in the hall -- asked my mom why is it that the remnant ones are all kinda of mental -- of course i was shut down -- they were the crazies in the hall

Bruh that tattle energy is crazy with the JW’s back in the 90’s there wasn’t a lot to do but ride bikes with your friends and play outside. Every now and then we’d have a water war. These wars would get as big as 12 block radius. My weapon of choice was the super soaker 2000. Apparently I passed by a JW house.. They told their dad I had a water gun. Her dad then told the elders they seen us walking down the street spraying people. I got “counseled” they was like “I heard you are playing with guns.. do you think Jehovah likes guns?” I was like “YOOOO? WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING RIGHT NOW? HOW DID YOU EVEN GET ALL THIS INFORMATION?” 🧐🧐🧐🧐

God bless you! Your story sounds so much like the experience of so many Christian’s believers who have been brought up under legalistic biblical teaching of Jewish laws. Jesus was a Jew, but the Bible teaches us that we no longer are to see Him in the natural. Ask God to reveal Himself to you and He truly will. God loves you. He will reveal to you who Jesus is and He will show you how much He loves you.❤

I remember graduating high school in 1974 with good grades. They were teaching us not to go to college because armageddon would come before I'd get my college degree. Fast forward. Now I'm collecting social security. So many people were financially hurt by this teaching. Lots of old folks wondering how to survive in a world that was suppose to be paradise by now.

I just found yall today and youre my new fave channel! Thank you for being so transparent and relatable. I left 2 years ago and I'm never going back. While you're in it, you don't realize how much we are brainwashed. Even though my parents cut all ties with me since I'm disfellowshipped, nothing compares to living life for myself. They knew I wanted nothing to do with the religion so they soft shunned me until I went to the brothers and told on myself. 🙄The saddest part is I'm hoping for them to "wake up" from the cult, and they are hoping for me to "come back to Jehovah". The organization is truly twisted and manipulative. I hate it took me till 28 to see but I couldn't be happier for finally learning the truth about "The Truth (The Cap) 🤣

My mom was a devoted Jehovah Witnesse, so she dragged us to the Kingdom Hall. When I became a teenager I was a little wild and I also didn't fit in with the Jehovah Witnesse teens as well, so I left

Literally when I left. I started having more free time. It was such a relief. Like not pretending anymore I like it and getting find what I like

Your story is very interesting. I’ve been in the process of leaving the Mormon church for the past two years myself. The beliefs are a lot different, but the people are very similar. They say very similar things.

29:06 Same with the LDS church/Mormons-some call it the Hamster Wheel. Always something to do, keep you too busy to think, you’ll never achieve it all. No one else is having trouble, it much just be me. TONS of Mormons on antidepressants. Religion poisons everything. I’m so glad you’re both free❤❤❤

I just started the video and something you said brought something to mind… when you said “ talking about spiritual things”….that’s a tale tale sign of how JWs know when you are no longer active in “the truth” when you stop talking about “ spiritual things”…..they start labeling you as a person on the fringes, bad association, they start soft shunning you etc…..so exhausting, so glad I’m away from that dreadful place…

Being a follower of Jesus Christ is not a religion it's a Kingdom and your a citizen in God's Kingdom. Everytime I hear one of these stories I be like Jesus knew I wouldn't have made it in no cult but it also makes me appreciate Jesus even more bcuz He truly has given me many of chances and never left me and never will ❤

hey y’all! this video was fun + refreshing to watch, thank you! I would have been 4th generation, i never got baptized though. none of my siblings did either. my dad didn’t come back “to the truth” until his 40s, I was about 12. I had always been associated with the religion/cult, going to assemblies + conventions + meetings with my cousins. i always felt like an outcast so i was happy when my dad started going. eventually in high school i grew an interest in “worldly things” like school government + other extracurricular activities, boys lol, + music/entertainment. so i never fully committed. my sad made me move out, as he was then a ministerial servant + now an elder… after that it was over lol. i started visiting churches + just exploring religion + black history as well. i asked my dad why everyone in the publications were white. he said jehovah doesn’t care about color. i was like, well then why isn’t jesus + the other bible characters sometimes black or hispanic or asian if it doesn’t matter? why isn’t everyone represented? he changed the subject! we have both agreed that we are happy i never got baptized because i would be disfellowshipped 😅

The longer you stop going to the meetings and the FOG ( fear, obligation,& Guilt) lifts…the rest is history…..1 meeting, 2 meetings, 3 meetings 4…. It’s a wrap…. Then you start filling those meeting times with what YOU choose to do…..welcome to the real world…

What I've noticed is that I hear from a lot of people. It comes through the mother's side. My wife is a 3rd Generation JW and it came through her mom's side of the family. Praying for your guys!

Now this explains why neighbor was acting this way when I didn't study with her. I was at a store and they were standing outside witnessing really just trying to get people to give them a donation for the watch tower. But this particular day I saw neighbor daughter and I spoke to her and she spoke back and her mom was furious. I felted so bad for speaking getting her trouble. The daughter was a teenager. She always looked so sad 😢 This day the mom acted if she didn't know who I was(her neighbor) and she was trying to get me to study with her. I just thought that her actions didn't line up. Now I understand. Thanks for this video.
