Leaving Jehovah's Witnesses (Shocking Mental effects!) 

I woke up as a kid, and I knew something was wrong. I didn’t get real information until I got grown, but when I did I knew I was right all along.

I was D/FD in 2021 at age 74 , I was recuperating from Cancer in diagnosed in 2019. I took the opportunity of studying my religion in good faith whilst recuperating . I then had some questions as a result, and was discussing with a "Elder Friend" certain aspects. Next thing I was D/FD for dispensing apostate ideas.

I forgot about that part, but keeping the friends living in fear is one of the ways they keep mind control. After I left, I remember taking a shower and closing my eyes and not being afraid. It happened without me thinking about it. That’s when I realized how in fear I was living.

I felt so much guilt about not officially making a letter of disassociation. I’m so glad I never did; I don’t owe them anything.

Your video is very wholesome, my wife left me because I woke up years ago and she always tells our children that I won't enter Paradise. Being a witness is very toxic for family members outside your beliefs

I jumped the gun and started commenting like I’m watching a live stream. Everything you both said is facts. Y’all need to do a live so we can talk! Lol I walked away 2021. Need to congratulate both! I woke up by the end of 2018. My husband in 2020 (pandemic time) we have faded. Later that year my oldest daughter woke up! And this year, I’m so happy to say that my other daughter and her “elder” husband woke up! And while we talk as a family about this, we realize that now our focus is to be better human beings everyday! And respect each others path and thoughts. And now we are happier as a family than when we were JWs! Not everything is about preaching, meetings, studying, positions and worst of all: the criticism and judging and gossiping is no longer in our conversations ! Is about US as individuals, our real personalities and we love eachother for what we are not what we do! Love your new channel and hope that many other JW continue waking up and find your channel! This is the first video I've seen from you guys and i enjoyed it very much. My husband shared this video with me. We both had that feeling of wanting to write a letter. Thank you for sharing your personal experience. It helps to know there are many of us in the same situation. We both have faded and haven't been to a meeting since 2019. We are still detoxing from a whole life of being controlled with fear and manipulation. Thankfully we are a better couple now that the org is no longer causing divisions in our marriage.

I love the encouragement you both are providing for individuals that need it… Im a Believer/ Christian and I never understood why my 2 JW friends in school couldn’t go to church with me or even come to my birthday parties also We had to be secret friends from their parents.. my mom tried to help me understand… those friends eventually left the JW religion as we got older (their parents too) and they FINALLY came to youth Sunday with me at my church… they loved it 😊 so glad we got to fellowship together before we all left for college

I am soooooo thankful to have found your channel. Thank you for making a channel to help others understand. My sister is a JW and I am trying to understand her... I have not saw her since 2008. She calls me randomly and is usually drunk or really buzzed. Her very physically abusive husband doesn't speak to us via phone, and my niece hates me because of all the hateful things they have probably brainwashed her with. She's has chosen Me out of my 2 sisters to refuse to speak to??? Our parent's passed away and my sister never showed up... We were all so close at one point but things changed in 2004 for the worst. My nephew recently had a wedding...She didn't show up. I subscribed to try to understand her and to hear your journey. GOD BLESS YOU... thank you for sharing this knowledge. Its hard even talking to her sometimes so I don't answer the phone at times. The conversation is so phony or just crazy. I'm so disappointed at her.

One of the reasons I left is for the fact, that the only reason I was invited to someone house was to bring a dish. I was alone in the religion and I was not really cared for. So I did not lose anything when I faded away. However, I felt that God had left me. For years I felt that way. Right now, I am the closest to God like never before. 🙏🏻🕊🙏🏻🕊🙏🏻🕊🙏🏻🕊

Man I felt and thought the same about religion after leaving the organization. I know my younger brother tripped out when I told him that I lost all faith in the Bible. A lot of the stories in it just don't make sense. Great to watch you and your wife share your stories!

I personally felt a lot of guilt after waking up. I had family and friends young and old waiting for “paradise” to have children, build a home, etc. I still feel so sad for them. A lot of my old witness friends never even went to college because they think the “end is near”. It’s so sad.

I'm glad you guys saw the silver linings in your situation. Since I left I've learned not to be so naive, to question everything. I'm also glad that I have a working knowledge of scripture, even though I had to unlearn some of the false teachings. My relationship with God has gotten stronger since I left the organization. The fear tactics they used to keep me in, didn't happen at all since I left. There's reasons for everything. You have to see the good in a bad situation.

So many bad things happend to me, because I wanted to be humble and couldnt stand up for my self (only for my religion). So I treated me last, the others do the same with me! I do not felt what I needed! After almost 2 years I became aware of that. I always tryed to put others first and was so much exhausted. And then to hear: „you should do more and you will receive blessings…“ so I became a pioneer. But I looked around and saw a turn around world: happy family people, they got married, have fun, have kids, by houses, make it beautiful inside, make money and they are JW too, but not so active,.. less commentary, less service etc. and I asked myself could this be Satan? How twisted my mind was! How crazy! Like Satan would try to steal them from the congregations with blessings!? With good jobs and a happy family? I became sick and ill, physically and mentally. You two are so strong. You say you learned good things from it. I feel the same way. I became a better person. But I wish, I could choose this way freely and not because I was brainwashed into a Illusion! The thing that makes me sad and bitter is, they believe in their „truth“ and I can not make them responsible for anything! I carry all the responsibility for what I ve done! Its horrible for me! I would like to share the responsibility with the organisation!

Words like Condition & brainwashing suit perfectly what people go through. when being indoctrinated into any religious organization (it’s so scary and sad that they do this children). It takes courage to ask questions. It takes courage to walk away from obvious destructive mental manipulation and habits. It takes courage to think for yourself. I remember as a child loving music, and AS A CHILD I wrote a lil song about loving god😂🤦🏻‍♀️and my parents screamed at me because it was satanic for me to write songs for god, all the songs have to come from watch tower… definitely traumatized me. I have lots of more stories

You're two lovely young people, called out by God to do something greater, maybe in part helping others to transition between the organisation and the wider world, as it is so shocking for so many. My experience with JW is that they are mostly genuinely nice and helpful people who still carry some kinda idealism and wanna share the message of 'eternal paradise' with everyone... Sadly the organisation that feels so much like a sanctuary to good people in the beginning, then becomes the very thing that ends up suffocating them... which leaves them in so much confusion. Mind control by fear in whichever context is NOT OF GOD, He wants people to step into their own self authority as a sovereign spiritual being having a human experience. Question everything and choose what resonates with you personally, there's NO ONE WAY THAT FITS ALL, everyone's journey with God is different and highly individual. Keep up the positive vibe, you're rocking it!

I love you two. You are so real and "normal". I enjoyed your 2 vids about leaving JWs and your comments really resonated with me. I have been completely out for many many years and just in the last year I have begun to reach out to other Ex JWs. To watch the videos of those who are out for whatever reason. The video that struck me the most, though, was the series with Leah Remini and Scientology. I learned so much, but was truly startled to see that she had included an episode at the end concerning JWs and the devastation that was wrought on the ex-JW guests she spoke to and it hit home so hard. I have not stopped researching since then. Thank you for your well thought out and extremely well spoken/explained information. Looking forward to more from you two. ❤❤

He has now passed away and the guilt I have is very heavy. JW orginazation had manipulated my life for 45+ years.

I've been watching your videos a lot the past few days, I really enjoy the energy you both bring. This was a video I needed to see today, I've been dealing with the emotions of leaving JW. I feel like I know it's the right thing to do in my heart, to just leave. a small part of me feels like wait what if I'm wrong and I'm committing the biggest sin, so it brings some fear but like I said I feel in my heart I know the truth and this new truth is not the same as the JW truth. It also makes me feel a little lost, like when it comes to praying, who am I even praying to ( what god, what name) am I supposed to change what I say since JW have their own way/words you need to say in prayer. I was born in to JW and I have to say I grew up with such fear in life, like I was always waiting to die, embarrassed of our ways, esp in school being singled out when it came to things like the pledge of allegiance, having the rest of the class look at you like what's her problem, she thinks she is to good or what..is how I felt. I'm starting to feel like you both and it being more about a spiritual thing for me.

Love you guys! I took a more spiritual path also when I left. Totally my own opinion, but I think God isn't a religion and doesn't care what you call him/her, just love & help one another. I have friends that are atheists, too, totally get that. We all have our own journeys. With all my "control" triggers, I finally found a local church that accepts EVERYONE (gay, purple, etc.) and does a lot of community outreach programs to volunteer for. Before every service, they say "take what you will, ponder the rest" 😊 If I miss a month of Sundays, no one is calling me, but next time genuinely says "we missed you!" (took me awhile to not get triggered with that one 😂)

I was in for 49 years. Indoctrination started for me at 3 years of age. As an elder a did some bad stuff for the watchtower. I have been out for 10 years now. What is my reward for all those years serving a corporation? Armageddon and judicial committee nightmares. I wake up in a sweat. Some of the judicial committees I was involved in went against my conscience. But I was still a yes men for the corporation. I hate the watchtower. I was raised in a Witness family and it was horrible! I am free! It took years of unprograming. But I’ve made it to clarity.

The law of assumptions was what woke me up last year. Then i really knew the fear really instilled in us its pathetic. I hit rock bottom i had many questions that they couldn't answer its just God that showed me the light. I am God tho. Pure consciousness. I listen to my heart and intuition exclusively period 💅🏼

You are the cutest couple! I am so glad you both woke up when you are young. I was born in to the JW’s in 1960. Many years were wasted my self esteem was ruined. My whole family was in . Three generations, J W’s are never your friend. After leaving I will never go to a church. You develop your own relationship with God. I have many stories to tell . The CSA is horrible at Watch Tower.

For those who entered from the world (not born in.) You’re talking about the“ Love Bombing” technic.That’s what they do in the beginning. After they have you emotionally & psychologically hooked, and you believe you have all these wonderful, new, loving supportive friends, it stops and you don’t know why. Half the people if not more, that had lured and baited you in move on. You’re always wondering “ok what did I do that I’m not feeling that anymore?” You’ve entered the second phase of receiving constant instruction, nit picking, and criticisms. It becomes an endless life of looking to fix and find that good feeling they baited you with in the beginning. And your entire self worth becomes the approval of others, “the organization.” The org in which they have you psychologically convinced,that its approval means Gods approval.

So one day that really hurt me and I could not believe is when I ask my uncle for something and I was a child my uncle had the nerve to tell me because I was not a Jehovah witness, he cannot help me, and from that day forward, I never believed in the organization.

People at the Kingdom Hall are like "work friends" if that. You have your regular friends that you hang out with and then you have the work friends, the ones that you still have to watch what you say around or it may get back to the boss.

I have a few nieces and one of them is at that preteen age where she thinks everybody is her friend.. I had to tell her “them not yo friends.. stay away from bucket heads” she said “what is a bucket head?” I was like “IT MEANS THEM AINT YOU REAL FRIENDS” she was like “those are my friends.. don’t make fun of them!” I told her “I know bucket heads when I see them .. don’t find out the hard way!” 🤷🏾‍♂️.. young people really think they friends but it’s head azzery and bucket head activity happening in the background.

That’s the crazy part for me. I grew up in it. They made me feel like I was this really bad person. I was suuuuuch a good kid but I always felt like I was walking on eggshells. I felt like I was living a double life like even my personality was bad!!!! It’s crazy!!!! I was disfellowshipped and then also reinstated and the left becoming inactive. Everyone was so hypocritical and manipulative and it wasn’t healthy. I was even in an abusive relationship and I went to the elders and they did noooothing and didn’t come back to “shepherd me” or have comfort! Im soooooooo glad and feel relieved I left. I am still spiritual but I don’t want to be part of an organization that is in your head. I still have my beliefs but still.

Just a thought on the “letter of disassociation” i could be way out , but personally i feel they document this letter , in case the person who leaves starts a lawsuit against the org at a later date , then the org can claim they aren’t members of the religion. Could be wrong, but personally id advise never playing their game

I didn' t write a letter to get, so I didn' t see the need to write one to leave.

As JWs, we were called sheep and the elders were referred to as Shepherds. They were “shepherding the flock” 🤦🏽‍♀️ Looking back now, that’s cringe worthy! Blindly being led without even questioning anything!🤬

I woke up when i was in a psych ward. I called the elders for support and the elder asked me what i did against Jehovah to make me so upset that i admitted myself to hospital. I was shocked!!!! I was in there for depression and suicidal thoughts. I was a devoted JW. I had done nothing!!!!!!
