You know I'm really trying to improve myself as a rocket league player and I'm actually a professional musician so I understand the rigor of practice and learning from others. Out of all of the rocket league training/tips videos I've analyzed, yours are some of the best I've seen! I love the mindset and approach you take towards progress in this skillful game and I'm happy to watch your channel grow! Best of luck man! -Andrew
Focusing on a point on the ball while shooting is exactly what I force myself to do to improve shot accuracy. Really good tip. Another nice side effect of improving your timing is that you'll increase the power of your shots.
I wantched a lot of videos but no one talked that much about the “easy” shots, lately i started playing rocket league more and more to improve but i keep missing the easiest shots, finally i found someone who talks about this in depth, ty
I love how you always say "If you're new here, I'm a professional tenis and sport psychology coach..." and , it's become your trademark. It just feels right! :) - After finishing the video, is insanely good! It's the exact kind of videos I was looking for! You're finding yourself in this youtube thing... :O Good work!
I was looking for a video like this. You organised all of my thoughts and gave the science behind them as well. I never comment on yt, you deserve it man. Thank you.
Taking a moment to pause the video and just leave a comment I absolutely love videos like this. Videos that take the time to talk about the mental approach to things. Really top notch job man. I'll be keeping an eye out for the followup video.
Really good video man!!! I found your channel from Instagram and watched this video. I'm a GC level player and I definitely would recommend all of these tips for the lower ranks that are struggling to miss shots. One extra thing is when you're focusing on a specific part of the goal especially at higher ranks you need to aim where the defense can't save the ball even if that is in a harder spot to get the ball to like the upper corners. Yes you might be more likely to miss but you almost never see high ranked players miss easy saves so you need to aim in spots that make it uncomfortable or even impossible for them to get to. Great video!!!
Definitely! A lot of high MMR players also really benefiting from this too! I have a 1900 who said he felt way cleaner hitting shots after watching this. Focus and eye placement is one of those fundamentals that is easily forgotten and benefits everyone. Definitely aiming for where the defenders can not save is important for sure! Thanks for the support and share!!
i am gold and it helped me so much i used to miss all my shots but most importantly is because i am not playing for fun i rage every time i miss i need the mental and the mechanics your videos helped me thx
Man I know this is 8 months late, but I was a pitcher in baseball for years. The one thing every good pitcher will say is to “aim small, miss small”. You described that perfectly and the pressure that is of an easy shot as when your 2 strikes up on a batter you must not get nervous but to like you said limit your brain activity to just that one spot you’re aiming. You know your stuff and this has helped me a lot bc I never thought of that for rocket league
This is literally the only Rocket League channel I've subbed to after watching 1 video (Wasn't this video, was your how to deal with bad/toxic teammates video). Your take is very fresh since it's backed by experience in other sports, and I really like how you get into the psychology of various tasks in Rocket League, and strategies to overcome or simplify these tasks. Good job dude. Hope to see more videos from you
Hey, nice vid, you explain things pretty clearly without being boring. I'm struggling a bit to rank up and sometimes I feel like I'm getting worse instead of better. I noticed this in other sports I practice as well, sometimes you can't manage to do stuff that you could do easily before, and it can really get to you, you start thinking "damn, I was able to do this and now I'm not even close". I think that if you made a video on that it would be super helpful, both for me but more importantly for a lot of other people.
Lucky for you I already did! Check out my first video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lthF8yQe1jA.html "how to deal with Off days" :) Let me know if that helped! I'll likely go more into depth into this subject from a different angle in the future as well.
@@FlowStateGG Oh thanks. I had checked your channel before commenting this but I thought you meant "off days" as in days in which you don't play lol, that seemed kinda weird. I just want to know something, is it normal for these to become "off periods"? I would be totally fine with an off day here and there but it feels like it's more of an off week or more xD.
@@ashwell2648 Yes! slumps are natural, actually sometimes a good thing. If you're training new things, your brain needs to adjust, so sometimes you get worse before you get better. I'll make a video about slumps in the future!
Thank you so much for this! My biggest frustration is with my inconsistency when it comes to shots which often leads me to beating myself up immensely, I havent practiced much but I already feel a small difference and I hope that that difference enhances! Tysm
This would make a great series. Could you do a video on trusting your teammates more? I find that I either trust my teammates too much or not enough and it gets frustrating
Ayy gotchu that 500 👍🏼 lots of great points here. You talked about a lot of things I do but didn’t even realize. I also like your term “analysis paralysis” as I do this in everyday life as well 😂
Thank you so much! New player trying ranked and scoring pretty well for now. Scored from across the field and made better shots. Still missing some easy ones, but I’m going to practice more
This is really good content, I've been fascinated with translating leanings from other sports to RL for a while now, but it's not easy to find stuff like this online. Can't wait for the next vid
Really liked this video, as a big rocket league fan and squash coach the concepts you talk about are on point for why we miss. Keep up with the good work on these videos.
Wow. I just realized that I don't always keep my eye on the ball when I'm taking the shot... Lots of times I'm looking at the net (and sometimes my opponent LOL). Great video!
I'm somewhere between low gold and high silver. That being said I am trying too hard to improve and I am glad to have come across this video. Much of what I have been doing is over analysis and also being way too aggressive with going up for shots. I love your explanations and the sport science approach is an awesome way to explain it! Thanks for the knowledge!
Thanks man great video! I've start to work on my peripheral vision a bit ago when playing, but you reminded me to not forget the ball. I particularly like your approach to the video.
I really enjoyed this video and learned a lot from it, I always fail these shots and I feel this video will benefit anyone who watches. Thanks for making this video and making it well
This info is actually really helpful and I haven't seen it in any other videos before. Im surprised the video doesnt have thousands of views. Keep up the work man!
I'm going to be studying Psychology and I have adhd anxiety but I like to think I "adapted" it to be more observant and empathetic and I try to be the mediator when friends are tilting on RL and I love the approach from the mental aspect. It's something that seems like common sense but it's hard to put it into words and you did a great job, gonna like subscribe and check out the channel
Devin Pierce Devin!! You the man, thank you so much!! Good luck with your studies in psychology, feel free to hop on discord or join me on one of my twitch streams so we can chat about psych and stuff ☺️
wow glad i found this thank you! im hoping at the least this will help keep my mindset better and not worry so much when i miss easy shots.....now how about when you screw up a break-away
You have a nice speaking voice for this type of stuff, a smooth delivery explained why I suck, I'm like yup mhm I totally do that and nope I never thought of that lol. nice
Subbed! Great video! I’ve just noticed how much easier dribbling is if you keep your eyes on the ball instead of the car. Thought about implenting it in my shots as well but never did. Will do now. Thank youu!
Flowstate: It’s important to take a minute to take a look at these shots Me: sits there for a minute trying to figure out the best way to score the shot and the realizes that the other person has already scored.
This was awesome! I had to make a new account when I switched from console to pc cause I was too stupid to bind my old account and ended up in diamond 2 from my 10 placement games after being plat 1 in my old one (lol). But I noticed that even though I can keep up with the speed of the game, my accuracy is so awful, I'm lucky to score after a pass. This will help a lot.
vRaiinyy eyyy thank you! Word of mouth is so helpful for how small I am. Thank you for sharing with your friends! Feel free to join the discord so we can keep in touch :)
Really awesome stuff here! You deserve much more attention! The sport psychology approaches seem to apply very well to RL, the things you're saying make a lot of sense to me when I think about my gameplay. It's great that you're precise and clear in your wording and that you offer drills! I think your tips already helped me a lot :D Thanks a ton and keep it up
