Why We're Not Working With Scott Bikes Anymore 

There’s a lot to be said for focusing on the £500 (used) to £2000 (new) range. This is where most people “live” and, I dare say, most of the miles are ridden.

A revisit to the 'Decathlon' bikes and equivalent would be wonderful! The reason it got so much reaction is because of how relevant a topic it is. I'm perfectly happy with my present Argos rebuilt (many times, once by them) classic from the 80s. But lots of folks ask me, since I'm an avid distance cyclist "what's an affordable but good bike to buy?". Decathlon are present here in Toronto (couple of stores) and although the model you tested was available previously, it's no longer current. But perhaps there might be similar? The topic is still highly popular: "Affordable but quality bike enough to do day-trips on" (let's say 70km+). The point is to have a machine good enough that it's not the machine, but the rider that's the limitation. For better or worse at this point in time, the best option remains a rebuilt one from the LBS with a good reputation.

The first road bike I bought when I came back to road cycling was a Decathlon Ultra 720AF, bought it as an ex display bike, had it for 2 years then upgraded to a Specialized Roubaix Expert.

I really like how open you all are about how the cade media is funded. I liked the budget bike part of the latest backpacking trip. I would enjoy a video about bike packing in the uk or europe. Essentially a budget location video. Maybe even talking about the idea of microadventures

love the content and especially the "low end" bike reviews. Not sure if you're watched much in the US, but I'd like to see you buy some big box store bikes to review.

I believe so many of the UK based cyclists that watch this channel ride a Planet X bike, would love to see Francis and co do a deep dive review on some of their best sellers.

For what it’s worth, I really like this channel because it’s easily approachable, and honest. I come from a skateboard/snowboard background and have always ridden bikes too, but have gotten more and more into my road bike in my old age (44). Still, I rarely feel really comfortable in bike shops, and a lot of the vlogs or podcasts have this presumptive quality to them, like assuming your bike weighs under however many kilos or else you might as throw a propeller on your helmet. I get holding something you love sacred and all that, especially when the experienced guys have poured so much into it, but you don’t have to be so smug about it. To me, this channel is just some dudes talking about bikes and bike stuff with the girl that can hang (compliment). Not contrived, obviously know from experience what they’re talking about, hold each other accountable, and make it fun to listen to. I like the mechanic guy too. And the bike fitter guy, but the mechanic is funny. Jokes aside, the opinions on this channel about products hold the most weight for me because price and practicality plays into the discussion so heavily. I bet you could put together a hilarious reel of lack luster expressions when Host X from Channel Y refers to 105 after gushing over Ultegra or whatever. Seriously. Like, California isn’t cheap as it is! Don’t get me wrong, I like watching GCN too, and I’m not trying to hate on other channels, I’m just saying this channel makes me like cycling a little more. Until I can afford a new bike…

As a cyclist who's been riding since 1992 I only use "entry level bikes", It's not because I can't afford a more expensive bike it's more the fact that I won't get the best out of one, £650 on a Kona Cindercone was the most expensive I've ever spent and that was back in 1994. It was brilliant but it just hacked around the local woods and Beamish the same as my current £350 one. Great video by the way.

We need more all around utility bikes that actually serve the typical A-B use case that most cyclists have a need for. Relaxed geometry hybrids really are the way to go. I've been putting mountain bike riser bars on road oriented hybrids for years.

What a coincidence, my first road bike was a Scott Speedster 20. Bought it slightly used for $700, rode it for three years, and then upgraded to the Solace with Ultegra.

I think the decathlon gig is a better idea. it’s more the Everyman. they make cheap. Bikes. They make mid range and the flog a few top end bikes as well. something for everyone. Scott make superb bikes. can’t knock them at all. I just think riding something more middle of the road is just a bit more intouch with the real world and the current climate

Please can you do videos on " every day" bikes. Eg the bike for around town, the school bike, going shopping, just having fun. The type of bikes people who don't really think of themselves as "cyclists" but use a bike for a purpose because it's handy. How feasible is it to use a bike for local deliveries versus a small van etc. Not all of us want or care about being an athlete (overrated), we just need a handy bike!

Scott make great bikes if you want a mid to high end bike the entry level stuff as proved there are much better value options.

The trouble with being sponsored by Decathlon surely means there will be a bias in favour of them. If you did a review of road bikes under £500 surely you would be under pressure to give the Decathlon model a favourable review. I mean some of the Decathlon models are a bit grim, plasticky Microshift drivetrain and low end parts and their weight limits are quite low compared to other brands. Often they don't feature detachable derailleur hangers so a few bends to the gear hanger and the frame is toast. I'd sort of feel if you give a Decathlon product a good review is it because you are sponsored or its a genuinely good product. I don't actually like Decathlon entry level bikes I feel their bikes at higher pricing perhaps £900 plus is where they get better but often they still get beaten by Boardman bikes at Halfords for component quality and value. I've noticed with many bike channels when they compare bikes they have a lot of vagueness about their reviews, often omitting the full spec of the bikes in order to focus on feel or perceived superiority in handling etc. So you end up with a heavier bike with an inferior groupset actually getting the more positive review. If someone sent me a free ebike to review I would struggle to give it a negative review as I'd be so pleased to get a free ebike. If someone gave me effectively a yearly wage for promoting their products again I would be even more focused on promoting their products positively.
