I don't have a maternal instinct for children but I do for cats. I'm 31 and now all I can think about is being a cat mum. People tell me, no it's a baby you want and don't take me seriously. But it really is only cats. I've wanted one since I was small.

I have a desire to have pets, but not children. Pets seem fun enough and not too painful or expensive. I had a dog; and she was my baby.

I'm with that girl in that I do NOT like babies. OMG, I literally want to run in the opposite direction of them! Whenever I'm out somewhere and I hear a baby screaming or crying, all I want to do is get away from it. Nope, I don't like babies.

My partner and I were young when we got together, (22 and 25), so we thought we would have kids down the road when we were older, but now he’s 31 and I’m 34 and we’ve been so happy and love our fur babies and just realized parenthood isn’t for us a few years into the relationship. Our families are not happy and nag us but we always brush them off. I’m pretty sure we could win childfree bingo with what’s been said to us. Haha.

I don't hate kids, I just hate everything else that surrounds having one. It's also unfair to any kid whose parents only had them as a retirement plan or save a relationship, if you can't be together of your own volition a kid most certainly won't help with the additional stress.

I'm so glad I never passed on my hubby's narcissistic horrible bullying genes onto a child. 😮 His parents were monsters and I knew I couldn't give that to another generation. My doggos and kitties are everything. Vanessa and Xander, you made a great decision.

This couple reminds me of my wife & I. We give all these points & yet still get badgered about it. I’ve had to cut people off because of this. We travel a bit, concerts (Pre-COVID), and being disabled - a kid would completely ruin the life we DO have. Children don’t spark joy for us. However, our two rescue pups bring more joy than anything- besides each other.

I'm going to be honest right now. I have a mom who had kids so the kids could take care of her when she got old. She was abusive and narcissistic. She even abused me by proxy. So, I know what it feels like to have been parented by a woman who only wanted me so I could take care of her when she got old.* People who want kids just to take care of them when they're older shouldn't have kids, imo. *Someone else will have to take care of her. I'm fkn not.

the world is just so bad right now, so many diseases and so much crime, when I was growing up I dont ever remember being scared of school shootings, I live right next to the area where the parade shooting happened in illinois and we almost went there with my one year old niece, it was a literal little kid parade and it had a shooting, its so sad.

I get so tired of this retort. When I get older, If there isn’t anyone to take care of me (I’m already disabled), then I’ll deal somehow. I don’t want someone caring for me that feels obligated to. Someone being paid to sounds much better than relying on someone that feels it is “their purpose” or “well it’s my mom so I have to ugh”. 35 now & hope to see 70 - but I won’t be stressing over care when I am old.

Oddly enough, the most criticism I've gotten for being child-free is from young men, typically those obsessed with the idea of their "legacy". I remember one comment I received not too long ago from one of those dudes, "it may sound great now, but wait 20 or so years when you're in your 40s. It won't seem so fun when your alone, miserable, and surrounded by cats". I had to laugh, and then respond, "well, I'm actually 44, been happily married for over 21 years to my best friend, and far from miserable". He didn't respond.🤔

Reducing crime is yet another reason I am childfree. There are hardly any police on the streets, and we have men killing lone women just 'walking home'. There are robbers, conartists, serial killers... people forget that every killer has a parent.

Not having children is not a bad decision definitely In what is happening in the world at this current moment. I see alot of people having children not because they want them but because they financially benefit themselves or get a house through benefits. How do some people expect to look after children when they can't look after themselves... Completely baffles me. Child free life is a good life!

A big turn off for me about parenthood would be everyone's opinions about the baby and how we should raise it. People would be over at our house more often which I'd hate, toys and accessories would be bought by family members that I may not approve of or like. It would be an absolute shit show

That statement about child haters and how can you look at a child and not want one, then saying once you develop a bond? Got news for ya, not everyone actually bonds with their baby, it's not automatic, especially when you didn't want to be pregnant in the first place (accidents happen). Yes, kids ruin everything, love life, career, travel, tension in the marriage where there wouldn't have been otherwise, not to mention the clutter they bring into a house. Also, about the environment, the mountains of diapers that end up in the landfill, and all sorts of other things that we wouldn't be filling the garbage with if kids weren't there. Just some examples.

When the world is way to stressfull and out if sense, I come here to watch a video I actually feel like I can agree on😅 But hey, talking about environmental impact of children, I think the couple may also be talking about overpopulattion, and not only less resources.

I'm the opposite, I love babies cause you can play with them and cuddle them but still have adult conversations cause they don't know what your saying. Once they hit 4 or 5 they pick up on stuff more and it's harder to talk like adults 😅

The comment about getting "that feeling" I felt so much. I went through exactly what she said. I found myself almost trying to want one because of the social pressure. One by one people around us where getting pregnant and I felt left out. Finally when I hit about 35 I realized that I need to stop being crazy and be OK with not wanting to bring a life into this world.

I'm 31 and have Asperger's Syndrome (high functioning autism) and I already have enough difficulties with myself let alone a child! I don't want kids and have felt this way since I was a teenager. My stance on it hasn't changed at all. I do still envision being happily married one day though.

Honestly, I don't want the responsibility of raising another human. Yet the only reason I would want a child is to have someone look after me when I'm old. That is not a good reason to have a kid. Secretly hating it but only doing it so I can get a return out of it when I'm older.

It is important that our spouse is on the same page with us and have open discussion about not having kids . I don’t have desire /dream to be a mom but I don’t mind in helping out fostering kids , as I saw there are lot of needs out there as a mental health professionals

I came upon a comment section that was nothing but bashing childfree women...it was gross.Its not my fault you decided to have kids. Don't be mad at me because I'm free to do what I want. My mom didn't want me and let me know until the day she died. The amount of times she told me she wished she would've aborted me is astronomical. It would've been better had she either aborted or given me up for adoption. .just sick of the child free bashing from these holier than though Mom's.

When I first got married, one particular friend of mine would keep asking, “when are you going to have a kid.” To which I would reply, “We don’t want any because parenthood doesn’t appeal to us”. The friend would then tell me, “You’ll feel different after it’s born so go ahead and have one”. …I think people like that should live their lives as they wish and let me do the same.

I’ll never understand the argument that people make saying that couples who choose not to have children are selfish. To me it’s much more selfish to have kids (when you don’t want them) for the sake of having them and hoping with all your might that you’ll just magically change your mind after they arrive. It’s also so incredibly selfish to have kids with the intent that they are going to take care of you when you’re older. What a burden to place on your children. Finally, it’s beyond selfish to expect others to have kids to satisfy some unmet need in oneself. Like a family member who wants you to have children so that they can be a grandparent, or a friend who thinks “that’s just what people are supposed to do.” So frustrating!

Cracked me up when you said you don’t get it when folks get sick of their spouse… I think its really common. Living with another person is often hard. Lots of married couples don’t have super high levels of compatibility, and even if they did when they first got married, two or three decades later that often changes.

i am an aunt who is CF and the only thing my mother wants to talk about with me is the kid and my nephew's family. I don't seem to exist anymore now they have a kid. I said I didn't want to talk about them all the time

My cousin recently told me on Christmas that she was sick of seeing her husband. And they have a 1 year old. She even said it in front of him. This was brought up because they work in education and have the same vacation time. I happily said they’re lucky to have the same vacation so they can plan stuff together.

One of my husband's friends is divorced and currently fighting with her ex over wither to home school or public school.

I retired from corporate work at age 51 primarily because I never had children. Now I create content full time (not making much $$. In fact, I spend way more on content creation than I earn). This wouldn't be possible if I had kids. Besides, most kids grow up to "blame" their parents for the state of the world and their own shortcomings. My parents did it with their own parents. A glance at RU-vid and search the term CPTSD, and you'll see thousands if not millions of comments of people who suffer from this. So go ahead and have kids, but know, they will probably hate you and talk crap about you on social media regardless of how hard you tried to make their childhoods good.

I am both single and childfree and I'm not lonely as they say it would be, I'm truly comfortable without a romantic partner or children. I would make both a terrible husband and father, those things ain't for me.

I’m a teacher, and I love my students to pieces. I was also raised by narcissistic and abusive parents and it took me a long time to get away from being a not so great person because of the trauma and the awful way they acted and treated me. I would be a great parent now but I’m 53, so no kids, and I’m mostly ok with it.

I choose not to have children because I just don't like other people's children. I am so glad some people do and enjoy their jobs as teachers and daycare staff. I suffered a traumatic brain injury from a car accident and that really changed my view on things. I have no patience for children. In my car accident, I also fractured my pelvis. My seatbelt did a fantastic job of constraining me. It pulled hard enough to fracture my bones. I commend parents and teachers for the sacrifice of watching the next generation of children.

The population argument is a lie, it's very easy for developed societies to end up declining because of low birthrates. It's happening in most developed nations and will continue to be a growing issue if it's not addressed honestly.
