Every time I see a cow after a trim, I realize all over again how expressive they are with their faces. The way they often glance at Nate, as if it is registering for them that Nate is the one who took their hurt away. I think it is the eyes that are most expressive, really.
@@swiftfated That is awesome! I never knew. And it is amazing to me how people thousands of miles away and thousands of years in the past had the same opinions and ideas (about the eyes being so expressive), it goes to show that some human behaviors are truly universal.
@@pjimmbojimmbo1990 I used to think that way, before I got more experience seeing how cows express themselves through body language. Give it time and you will start to see those signals too.
they really are just big ol puppies. the only time i met a cow up close was as a kid and she accidentally knocked me over when she tried to investigate me. she looked concerned and confused like “why is this calf so light???” it was very funny and sweet
It's *not* overkill!!! It's serving a purpose. It helps cushion that hoof so the cow can comfortably stand and walk on it and it keeps debris from the sole in an effort to keep that lesion from getting infected...
@@bwenluck9812 also keeps the infection from getting worse if the cow already does happen to have an infection in their hoof. Because debris could make it worse with all the gross stuff from the ground and whatnot.
You’re a throwback to what this app used to be. No cheesy intro music, no talking just to talk, having your face all in camera and doing everything you can to make your videos ten minutes. By far the best hoof trimming channel around.
Why do you folks feel the need to trash Graham??? If you don't like HoofGP, just don't watch him.... Personally, I watch both, because you can never know too much!!! Nate and Graham have rubbed elbows and if Graham is good enough for Nate, he's good enough for me!!!!
I am obsessed with Nate the Hoof Guy. His gentle Midwest accent and easy demeanor is fun to watch and listen too. Nate must have huge forearms and wrists as he removes that dense horn. Thank you Nate the Hoof Guy for your educational videos.
Out of all the hoof guys, you are the most careful and considerate. None of the others hold the foot and you don't hack away harshly. You also sound very nice and you treat these poor beasts with real respect . Thank you ❤
tried watching a few other hoof trimmers once, and they’re all SO heavy-handed with their knives. like one of the guys i watched cut in huge chunks, made the entire length of the corium bleed, and made the cow flinch and kick with each swipe. at the end, he wiped it dry with a paper towel and added the loosest bandage wrap that i’ve ever seen. it was so crazy and sad. it really made me appreciate this guy a lot more with how steady and patient he is with the cows.
Consider yourself hugged hard! You must be thrilled when you help an innocent lady in terrible pain who provides tasty milk to all of us! God Bless you, Nate. We all love and respect you. You are the best foot trimmer in the world.
Her legs appear to be very bent, maybe soreness in joints and hooves? Glad you're there to save the day!! To you Nate, and all the father's out there, may your Father's day be Happy and may you always be blessed with Happy, Healthy children who love you as much as you love them!! Enjoy the celebration on your special day!!
I noticed this too... her weird shaped legs, posture and how her feet flare out, almost ducklike. Perhaps it's from having sore feet for an extended period of time? Maybe congenital? Maybe due to an old injury?
We know, we just don't think about it too much. You can ignore other animals but if you ignore a horse's feet, people will turn you into authorities!!!! 😉
I don't know much about raising cattle, but that poor girl was suffering, and you relieved it. Nice job, I'm grateful that there are pro's who do a job that make a difference, and relieves pain and suffering of the animals we all need.
Nate, you are the best, above the rest! Love your videos and your clear, succinct teaching. No fake drama, no musical interludes, just the facts. Thank you for taking the time to produce these videos for us. I will be definitely catching you on the next one!
Right? That's what bothers me about the other guy I watch. I really just want to watch the trim and don't really need an irrelevant monologue at the beginning. I'll watch that guy with the sound off, but I'll listen to Nate all day.
I don't see people trimming dew claws too much. Once every several videos maybe. The big exception being when Hoof GP had a cow with a super long one. It was several inches long and was dragging on the ground and would likely have been bothersome for the cow. But with a quick trim, it was fine again. From what I have read, they actually do serve a function. They help the cow get better traction as they walk. I assume that helps on more slippery surfaces.
I cannot believe how much I love these videos. Earlier today, I channel surfed some Dr. Pol and I was instantly critiquing the way he dealt with a cow's hoof. Oh, so now I think I'm an expert?? Nate, I LOVE your channel!!!!! 🐂🐂🐄🐄
Nate, I consider you a man amongst men! 🌟 You are a Godsend to these poor cows in pain! With your incredible dedication to their welfare and your obvious, sweet, sincere compassion, you are a very special human savior for these precious animals. With grateful tears in my eyes, I salute you, Nate! ❤✨️🐄 ✨️❤
I do enjoy watching and hearing a man that knows what he is doing. Dairy cows are a big investment, and we know happy and contented cows make more milk or cows that are not in pain.
So good to see her walk away feeling so much better. Your job has such great impact on them and their lives to make it better. I wish all farmers used hoof trimmers the cattle would be so much better for it.
I am amazed at how much i have actually learned from passive teaching just watching your videos. I find myself nodding along or identifying the issue a few seconds before you say anything. I am curious about what causes the deep "pit?" / indentation in the right, front outside claw as seen before trimming.
I am sure that was a huge relief for her. It's just like us if we got a foot problem we got to a doctor to get it checked out. She has a farrier to help her out with her lameness issue. I am sure she feels much better now. Thank you for helping her. I am sure a cow in pain affects their milk production too.
I've always loved Nate's videos, and it's been a while since I've started watching them again. Gotta say, now that I've developed bunions, I have a deeper appreciation for hoof trimmers. These vids now hit different 🥲😂
That poor girl! She must have been so uncomfortable with her front hoofs 😢. So glad you got her feeling better👏🏻👍🏻 Who invented those blocks? Best thing ever
This man is doing God’s work, she is helping these animals as God would. I understand not everyone here is christian like I am, and that’s okay, bur just know I’m praying to my god for your safety and wellbeing❤
Great video HoofiNater! Love your work. Dew claws when big enough will hold bacteria against the skin. Cut them down always. Keep them off the leg. Really enjoyed this one. Nate the HoofiNater! The Hero of Cows everywhere!
Oooooh! I love a mystery! This cow was having a truly tough time, with both front hooves very sore. Maybe......we will see a follow-up, Nate? (Please please please!) Hoof rotation strikes me as the most difficult problem to fix because you can't really do it in one go, and the ergonomics are not simple.
Vim parar aqui através do Facebook, antes disso eu nem sabia que as vacas sofriam desses problemas nas patas. Honestamente fiquei encantada com o cuidado que ele tem em fazer esse trabalho.
