The Campulance is a 2002 Ford E450 Marque Commando 164 Class III ambulance powered by the Ford 7.3l Powerstroke turbo diesel engine and a 4 speed 4R100 transmission. Lefty is a 68lb American Staffordshire Terrier (best I can tell) that came from the Verona Street Animal Shelter (www.vsas.org/) in March 2014 at the age of 9 months. We have been living full time in the campulance since July 2019. #ambulancelife #vanlife #staffordshireterrier

Just saw that today at Wal-Mart parking lot.Kind of a bigger family,mom and pop and several kids and an older person,a whole group, got out of their car several of the people droped Kleenex, cups and a few small items just right on the ground. Then they stood a few moment talking as I walked by and were oblivious to the fact they just left their trash laying there...I thought to myself" what pigs" when we were growing up my folks were poor and didn't have a very fancy house but Mom always kept her house clean and taught us to pick up after ourselves. Bless her heart, she passed last year. Thanks for the interesting videos!

We have shopping bag and we put all the trash in it and when we stop at rest area we put the trash bag in the dumpster. This is how you keep the high way clean.

Yesterday I witnessed a semi truck from Texas dumping large amounts of trash out of there window here in Arizona. I pulled up close behind them took down the license plate # and called it into highway patrol. I gave them my name and said I would be more than happy to write a statement or even be a witness in court if need be. I also notified the company they were driving for. I don't know what it is about Texans but I have seen quite a few doing this kind of thing. I guess because they are so big that they think they can do anything without consequences.

I went to Japan and China and was surprised how I didn’t see any garbage or trash on the streets. People there just don’t litter. As a tourist, I got in a habit of carrying an empty bag on me with my garbage to dispose of whenever I find a bin. It’s so crazy. Here we have people just dropping trash at a red light or walking along the sidewalk tossing whatever on the ground. We’re gross. But I guess I shouldn’t expect much from us because we have homeless people relieving themselves on sidewalks. 🤢🤮

Oh my don’t get me started on the garbage and litter. We have a neighbor who never puts their garbage in bags so when they put their cans out for pick up it blows out all over. I just picked up a large lawn size garbage bag up of their garbage about a week ago and already they have more on the roadside. Plus when I take my dog for a walk I take a regular size bag with me occasionally to pick up trash that people just throw out of their cars like you showed and the day after I pick it all up it was a mess again. Right now I’m having back pain so I’m going to buy one of those grippers so I can clean up again. So sad. Back in my day my mom would threaten you with a spanking if you littered. 😢 I told you not to get me started 😂😂😂😂😂. I’m happy you and others make people aware. Thank you. Hopefully it helps. ❤❤

I've been in my house for over 20 years. About five years ago, somebody moved in next door and the trash has just piled up on the front and back lawns and on his porch. I just don't understand it. And when I think of trying to sell my house, I know that is going to affect what I can ask for a buying price. The village government doesn't seem to have any power to make him clean it up. I wouldn't even let a stray piece of paper or anything just lie around on my property.
@rattlecat5968
@rattlecat5968 4 месяца назад
I'd call code enforcement bc depending on what's littered and how much, it could be a fire hazard. Don't you just hate ignorant neighbors?! I had some and our village did nothing about it either. Code had something to say though. 🙂

@@sarahoconnell7801In NYS, air conditioners have to be disposed of differently bc of the [freon?] gas inside. It's a danger to the environment. I don't understand why your code enforcement agency won't do snything about it. And the junk... that's detrimental to your home's value. Maybe escalate your complaints to the next higher municipality? Go to thd Town? Even the county? Don't stop or it will onlh get worse. That's been my experience. In my village, we had a fire and the debris wasn't cleaned up for over a year! I bitched at the village, the town and finally the county fire dept bc the health hazards were awful. It stunk of burnt plastic and wood for months. The village *FINALLY* cleaned up the mess! Maybe try the *Dept of Environmental* Conservation. All that debris allows for rats and racoons and such to be encouraged to forage in the area. That's against the law here, anyway. Hope these suggestions help. I really feel for ya!

I tossed my cell phone 14 years ago and never looked back. Got rid of the TV as well and I've never felt freer in my life. I think people don't realize how they enslave themselves to things. All I have now is a laptop and I'm happy with that. It doesn't ring me and demand my attention so my mind is always clear and unchained. But I don't have any illusions that other people will free themselves. They seem to be permanently trapped in a web of their own making.

Im just a few years younger than you and maybe back East it wasn't so bad in the 70s, but out here in UT, I remember as a small child in the late 70s, people commonly just tossing their cans, bottles, and various fast-food trash out the window of their cars. The edges of the highways were strewn with scattered trash that had accumulated for decades. I think it was in the early 80s when society/gov't became engaged in cleanup campaigns and law enforcement started enforcing littering laws, changing things for the better.

All derelict buildings are spooky. The more isolated it is, the creepier it gets. The isolated service stations that are out in the middle of nowhere are because at one time they were on a major route *and* near a small township. New highways are built and small towns get detoured around or just die out. Eventually the reason for the business being there no longer exists. It's kind of sad, but also inevitable as things change. A glaring example of this are the towns along route 66. Since the Interstates took traffic away from that route many of the old towns that once thrived are now ghost towns and I'm sure there are plenty of derelict service stations. Some towns are hanging on with a bit of tourist trade or if they have another reason to exist such as agriculture or mining, but it's mostly just a skimpy tourist trade that keeps a few going.
@TheCampulanceMan
@TheCampulanceMan 4 месяца назад
We've been through some of those route 66 towns that fell off after the highway was built. Like you said, some have held on with tourism, but some have struggled. Leadville is one of my favorites with a nice downtown area :)

Love the flowers out there. I hope you get to stay long enough to show us the Spring bloom. When Lefty puts on the brakes like that, try making some slack in the lead and then run off in the direction you want to go. Dogs love chasing, it might motivate him to move. Also for Bobby, his dog with the spine issues, if it gets worse, you can get wheels for them so they retain their mobility. Trash sucks. People doing that is what gets places closed, regulated or install fees so they can pay someone to clean up. That kind of thing and worse is what's getting Walmart lots closed to overnighters. If people policed themselves the government wouldn't have to do it for them. Entitled twits. That snippet of drone footage looked awesome. Very good resolution. Glad you guys are doing ok.

Most office supply and hardware stores carry "wire bridges". These are low curve-top strips of heavy flexible plastic, designed to pop over power and phone cords on office floors, so you can't trip over them or crush them. Easy to place them over cables (the whole bottom is split) so if you DO hit something, the wires are in a good rugged aerodynamic protector. Not expensive. Nothing to snag.

David, I have a Samsung Galaxie S8 which is 7.5 years old. I just bought a replacement on ebay for it because my son told me the new S24 (and the S22) don't have a slot for an SD card which I absolutely must have. So I bought a Samsung Galaxie S20 (which is the last model with a SD card slot) on eBay for $220 and it was new in an unopened box. I'm going to get a large SD card and have my carrier (AT&T) transfer all my files/contacts/etc. to the new phone.

re: Litter. I live on a major route and there is a McDonalds 10 minutes away, and it seems just enough time for everyone to finish their food and drink while driving, since all the trash from there, always ends up in front of my yard. (I sometimes think it is payback for not being more conserned about littering as a kid back in the 1950-60's.)

I pull up to a campsite in a rule area with just my dog and I. And I see garbage. It scares me a little to stay because that to me is a big sign of irresponsible people are around or have, been there and may come back.🐾❤️❤️

Great video David, and Lefty too. I loved seeing the purple flowers and the others too, I’m just partial to purple. Anything and everything purple! Even had my black Kia Soul wrapped in purple, always get compliments. I hate it when people litter, intentionally or not. Even if I don’t have a bag in my car, if it’s a drink, it stays in my cup holder til I get home, cans are right there. Usually though I bring water in a travel cup with aluminum straw. Do you have a timeframe you’re looking at to head back to NY? Have you and Lefty ever come to the SE part of WA State? That’s where I live now, but moved from NJ way back in 1992….no humidity, very little snow (most years), traffic is worse now than then, but still not what Jersey and NY are. Hope you and Lefty stay good…..til next one…..give Lefty a treat and hug please.

I once was waiting for a city bus with other persons when this young school girl starts asking me a question. Then she unwraps a piece of gum and drops the wrapper. She looked at me and says "That bothered you didnt it.." So then she adds that alot of other people do it so its normal to just drop your stuff. I said look around at all the people... If everyone just dumped garbage on the ground, those guys with the scoops couldnt keep up with it. We be walking around knee deep in garbage. Would that look good? After thinking a bit she agreed it would not be very nice.. So she bent over and picked her paper back up and put it in her pocket. I smiled and we continued to talk.. it was a better day.

Randy and I carry a trash/litter bag inside the vehicle -- and USE IT. Then, when we get home, or filling up the fuel tank, we can dump the bag in the barrel beside the fuel pump, or in the trash can in the garage. Such a simple task. Even have to commend "WonderHussy" when she's on a hike. She cleans up on the trail she's traversing. Good for her, sez I!!

We have a vacant gas station about 2 miles up the road and there are no houses around it and it was being robbed every few months and they ended up closing it down because of that. It's been closed a couple years now and they are finally doing something there because there have been men there working and big piles of wood sitting there.

Worked in Detroit as a hvac tech for over 36 years cant count how many times have seen someone throw fast food bags out the car window. Back when the superbowl was in Detroit the city picked up all the trash and somehow moved out the bums hung banners across main streets hiding abandoned high rises. That was the best I've ever seen the city. Shortly after the place was trashed again. Majority of people are good a small % of people ruin it for everyone else

It's a shame to see how some cities have deteriorated, especially historic cities like Detroit.
@lastone8896

@TheCampulanceMan in 1967 the population in Detroit was two million that summer there were riots many homes and businesses were burned. After that people ran away from the city population now 500 thousand if you look you can still find some of those old burnt out buildings that have full size trees growing out of them. There's a theory called the broken window theory that's if a abandon building has no broken windows people tend to leave it alone but after a window or two get broken it's all bets are off and people will bust out all the windows. Roadside trash is very similar if people see it then they will tend to add to it. I noticed as you do some off road videos that your area is generally clean but when there's trash it seems like a lot.

I enjoyed the walk always enjoy your videos. I enjoy Lefty's conversation, he enjoys getting his voice heard his point of view across. I can't help but love Lefty he's a very special dog. I am happy for you that you have him for company I feel you need him. You are unusual as Lefty is because you enjoy talking which is nice a lot of men don't enjoy conversation to much. May I make a suggestion for you to try ? I use alcohol in my laundry because it whitens your whites brightens your darker clothes hasn't got the odor that bleach has. I buy my at the dollar store you can get as high as 90. Percent to 40 percent, it does a wonderful job also disinfect your clothing. I like you get annoyed at people who are litters, or people who have garbage pickup yet they won't put their garbage out to lazy to get up in morning to put it out they could put it out the night before, they saint until they have bags piled up before they put it out they keep it in their garage. To each his own but its doesn't make common sense. We are so lucky to have pick up right out side our door, spring, fall clean up to rid yourself of the extra stuff that you don't want. Thanks for sharing, enjoy.

My dog food (a 4-lb bag) which used to be about $28.00 Canadian is now $39.00 Canadian. Absolute insanity. I know it's less expensive per pound if you buy a larger bag, but my dog doesn't go through it fast enough before it would go bad so I have to stick with the small bags. When I was a kid there would be hell to pay if we threw anything out of the car - the only things my dad would let us throw out the window were things like apple cores, banana peels, orange peels, etc.

I was born in the mid 50s and I can tell you that where I grew up in northern California you never saw piles of trash like you do now. We were taught to pick up more than we brought. You never saw trash on the side of the road. What we’re seeing today is an overall disrespect and disregard for humans and our planet also, with an amalgamation of people from all over who have different ideas about what is appropriate. I’ve picked up beach trash for 30 years. Wherever I go, I carry a trash bag and I see trash and I’m able, I pick it up. I’ve actually had people tell me “I’m not picking up other peoples trash!“🙈
