If the foreigner meets the parents and family then later breaks up with the starter gf, which was the plan all along, she will be extremely embarrassed. you are describing a system that many Filipinas have experienced and it was negative for them. This also makes foreigners look bad also. Meeting the parents is a huge no no if you are not serious. this is really bad advice and if you plan ever on living in that area, it will not go well if you choose a different girl.

Guys travel all the way to the Phillipines because they didn't like the dating culture where they came from. The Phillipines is typically more traditional than where they came from. So the "expert" advice is to turn the Phillipines into where you came from ? Be honest and upfront in everything that you do. Sure let the first couple know that you are just dating because you just got there and you are not looking to get locked down. But don't do things that are culturally considered serious relationship overtures in the philippines. Especially meeting their family

I'm 76, and want to visit the Philippines to experience the culture and get away from the Cold of The White North ie Canada. I hope to be in a position to do that when I'm 80. So I'm not likely to be looking for a gf. Will I have to negotiate a lot of girls/women looking for husband/bf.
You are a young Filipina. I am a mature guy from the UK. I have travelled a lot never to the Philippines but I'll be visiting to explore to see if I could retire there. STARTER GIRLFRIEND? NOT FOR ME. My list consists of 1. Ensuring my income stream is stable and enough to live well there. 2. Visit and explore to see if I'd be happy to settle somewhere. Look at options for accommodation. 3. Ensure I am able to obtain diabetic medication there and the cost. I'd be happy to date filipinas but would not enter into a serious relationship until I was settled there. Doing so would not be fair to me or the Filipina. I'd take time getting to know her before making a commitment. A good relationship needs Trust, Honesty, Respect, Fidelity and Good Communication. Lying, disrespect or cheating would be a deal breaker for me. I don't do it and won't tolerate it. If that means I remain single or date casually or split my time between the UK and the Philippines or elsewhere I'm OK with that. Instead of looking for a starter girlfriend take time to find the RIGHT girlfriend and Don't rush into anything.😊
