Many students wonder why they're not getting better at learning how to sing. It's a really good question especially if you're trying to learn on your own. And in fact as a professional voice teacher that’s taught over a thousand students, I can tell you that it can be really difficult to learn on your own without personal feedback.
So today, I'm going to tackle the three biggest mistakes that I made when I was first starting to learn how to sing and how you can avoid them. I'll even use real world examples of RU-vid videos that I watched when I was learning how to sing. then I'll show you how to avoid these common mistakes.
When I was first starting off, I made three huge mistakes when I was learning to send.
The first mistake was that I was reading online forums like Reddit and Ultimate-Guitar. It's a problem with this was it was basically a bunch of angry people yelling at each other telling you that you had to feel the music more. But I was already doing that.
The next mistake that I made was I went down the RU-vid rabbit hole. I was so excited when I first found RU-vid. But after a few weeks of working through the exercises I realized I gotten totally lost.
The last mistake that I made was I actually decided to say what one teacher was saying about singing and I bought her DVD. But she spent more time bragging about her famous clients than actually teaching. All this frustration led me to making the biggest decision that would change my singing career. I decided that I would take a voice lesson.
The reason that you're not getting better at singing is that the voice needs to be built in a specific way. There's actually a step-by-step methodology to becoming a better singer. And most of the time, you don't know where you are in this progression if you don't have personal feedback.
