Why You Should Get A "Used" Japanese V6 For Your Daily Driver

If you are willing to spend the time looking, there are plenty of reliable used cars out there that still have a lot of life in them. Six cylinder Hondas & Toyotas will run forever if properly maintained, provide more performance than their four cylinder counterparts and aren’t too match more expensive to maintain.

Its hard to believe that the Accord your driving is 20 years old now…. It’s in such great condition, and doesn’t look it’s age.. you’ve made great points about purchasing a used accord of similar a model. 👍🏽

06 V6 here. Great daily driver. Exactly as you mentioned. Bought from an old lady, garage kept, all maintenance records, only 50k miles for $6k in 2020. Now up to85k and have put on all new breaks, spark plugs, oil changes every 5k and drain and fill on the transmission a few times (honestly that’s a pain). Otherwise first major issue came up recently with the blower motor for ac stopping. Ended up being a wiring issue. Great discussion on a great car! Keep the videos coming, the slower temp etc is great change of pace from other RU-vid accounts

Took me a little over a year to find the car i was looking for in excellent condition and maintained with all records!! Just bought my 2009 accord coupe V6 manual and worth paying a little more to me. I plan to keep it forever. Took so long to find because most of the cars i found were located up above the rust belt (Virginia or more North). Found mine garage kept its whole life in Texas!! Paid for it to get hauled to NC. Absolutely a blast to drive. Not even needing to aggressively drive and the acceleration and torque on the low end is amazing. My S2000 i had to really get the rpm's up above 5000 into VTEC before really feeling some torque. Only downfall I have with the accord is the little plastic valve in the clutch slave causes the clutch disengagment delay if youbwant to fast shift at high rpm's. That will end up cooking the clutch over time. So Im definitely going to remove that little plastic valve.. Other than that an amazing fun car to drive. Would recommend to anyone looking, if you find a good one buy it!!!

@@PhilipTamorria thanks man! I won’t stop looking for one until I find one. I’m currently driving a 2005 mdx with 250k on it and this car helped get through the toughest years of college. I could always count on it to start and take me wherever in the harshest of winters of Wisconsin. I want a new daily driver for the other seasons of the year. But keeping this one until the wheels fall off 😂. They don’t make em like they used to.

Lol, I did a lot of research on whether I should get a V6 before, and even after purchasing it, this video is still being recommended by youtube. I have been driving different kind of 4 cylinder manual for my entire life and just got a 2GR V6. The low-end torque is different from a regular 4-cylinder engine. The sad thing is they don't come with a manual transmission from the factory. Sometimes, I still jerk when starting to move the car because there is no clutch to control the startup lol

for honda V6, timing belt replacement unofficially is 10 year or 200k miles , whatever comes first. Years are more of a toll on belt than km. I drive a 2017 v6 accord with 160k miles, timing belt never changed.
@PhilipTamorria
@PhilipTamorria 3 месяца назад
True-on the older ones like mine it is 7 years or 100k. My car only has 76k miles but it’s on its 3rd timing belt since the car is 20 years old.Just like tires the age of the rubber is a big deal.

I own an 8th gen V6 Accord. It’s a great car. The only downside is the VCM system that made the engine sounded a bit rough each time when it deactivates it’s cylinders. And it’s suspension were set more towards the sporty side & felt a little stiff. Ironically I still love the 7th gen Accord V6 & probably would add that to my collection list. The engine felt more refine without the VCM & it’s suspension is rather comfy which I’m a fan of it!

I daily drive a 2007 Honda Accord V6. Its the most powerful car ive had out of 4 cars. I had a timing belt snap because of shitty maintenance and it was cheap parts. I've only put 8500 miles on it in a year but it's been flawless except a parasitic draw from the anti theft system so i have to drive it daily or it goes dead in a week. Paint is flawless except one tiny spot on the driver side by the mirror where it's a spot of clear coat peel.

1998 Honda Accord Coupe V6 217k miles Yes the infamous transmission slips, but I've put almost 60k miles on it. Bought the car for $700 with 160k miles. The J30 V6 has been dead reliable. Not sure I could go back to the old Pontiacs/Buicks after this. All I can say is I got my money's worth. Shame 98-02 V6 Accord's didn't get a manual option.
