Why You Should NEVER Trim Frizz Off of Your Locs! | Loc Talk

My advise on why you should NEVER loc prune as a form of maintenance. There are much better ways to contain frizz, like wrapping it around the loc, crocheting it in using a tiny crochet needle, consistent palm rolling etc. Any other questions, leave 'em down below!

I just prune mines only once . And my wild hairs were not going in to the already loc parts . And I had my locs for 3 years now . They are thick and pruning mines is the best thing I have ever done .

Totally agree! Just thought I’d spread some knowledge/information on what people are actually doing to harm their locs when they trim their frizz, all for an aesthetic. It isn’t worth it.

I also want to add you can use a special needle to pull those frizzy hairs into the loc which is way better than cutting them off! Great video!

Someone pruned my locs without my permission. What can you do to fix it?

Unfortunately, not much. Once it's done, it's done🙁. So going forward just leave your locs alone, maintain them as usual via interlocking, retwisting, semi-free forming, whatever you prefer to do and as the new shed hairs incorporate themselves into your locs DON'T let anyone you don't trust touch your locs, so that they can keep growing strong and maintain their integrity.

Wow😕 Wish you would’ve seen this video sooner. Did she at least tell you that she was doing it or did she just DO it? Also, I’d definitely be on the lookout for any weak points along the length of yours locs in the coming weeks to months. Hopefully she didn’t take it TOO far. Thats exactly why I made this video because trimming frizz off of a loc, and ESPECIALLY locs that aren’t yet mature is NEVER a good idea.

Same!! I was so upset, there was so much hair on the floor 😤. I will not be returning to my stylist. I think it’s best to maintain my locs myself. I’m only 5 months into my journey, and I want my hair to form the way it wants to
