Why you SHOULD NOT get Carnival's Drink Package 

Nope, order bottles of liquor through room service + a bubbles card. Then I can pregame and buy a drink or two at the bar when I don’t feel like running back to room. Also have a flaskap, which is a cap for yeti type insulated cups that holds multiple shots of liquor, so just refill cup with soda and press the magic button to dispense liquor into cup.

Did it once and at the end we did not think we drank equal to the cost of the package. We only have 2-3 drinks per day, and my husband gets drinks free in the casino, so paying $60 plus per day per person just doesn’t make sense for us.

@@whitsax yes the casino drinks take care of most of my night drinking. I tip the slot drink waiters well enough at the beginning of the cruise that I don’t have to be playing in the casino to get drinks from them.

Yes. After our first two cruises without it, we did the math and saw that it just made sense with how much we like to drink, liquor and non liquor wise. The cocktails we like add up quickly and we drink nowhere near 15 a day. 5 cocktails plus the non alcoholic drinks like two specialty coffees puts us over tbe daily amount breakdown. Our favorite drinks are the custom ones from the Alchemy Bar. We use to think from the misinformation of the others and our own ignorance of the actual details of the package that we had do that. We don't have to worry about a bill or worry if we don't like a certain drink. Also even if we do an excursion and stay out, we have the the evening to drink a few at the comedy club, dinner, and/or Alchemy bar. It's not for everyone though. We did the buying a bottle and it would've went better if they had crown apple available. The regular crown and the other options just weren't what we liked so we ended up only using half of it and buying some drinks.

I think the water bottles are a necessity if someone isn’t purchasing the drink package..I also heard people talking about buying sodas/bottled water at the ports and bringing them back on land..not a bad idea!

Which ports are you visiting and for how many days? I think if you’re a beer drinker, the price will be a little under the total cheers package, but not by THAT much. I will suggest comparing how many beers/day you’ll drink combined with bottled water/espresso. Happy sailing!!

⁠​⁠@@mhart94All people of the cabin must buy one package. So your daily cost is $59.95 x 2 = $119.90. A beer costs $8, break even point is 15 bottles daily. If you have a port day, do you (2 persons) have enough time to finish 15 in 5 hours. That’s quite in a hurry, I feel.

@@Rong_Wei_Yu that's only 7 beers per person. Assuming you only drink beer. Add a couple frozen drinks, a specialty coffee, and wine at dinner, you're way ahead of the game.

I honestly think this is the most cost efficient option.

The liquor bottles have to be purchased before the sail date. I was unable to buy liquor bottles once I boarded any ship this year.

@@Afro_Vlogs I’ve purchased from Room Service on my April 2022 cruise on the Legend out of Baltimore and my Jul 2022 cruise on the Magic out of NYC. Just called them up after we were far enough from our embarkation port to avoid sales tax. 🤷🏻‍♂️. I’ve done this over a dozen times on Carnival cruise ships.

You’re totally right..the fact that they make everyone in the room buy the alcohol package promotes daily binge drinking. Unfortunately, I assume they’re making too much money to ever make that adjustment. I hope I’m wrong!

I’ve seen people unable to handle their liquor on embarkation day and proceed to be eerily sober throughout the rest of the trip. I’m not sure if the Carnival crew took away their drinking privileges, or if their behavior adjusted out of sheer embarrassment. In any case, I’m in agreement with you.

Carnival offers deals if you’re signed up for their VIFP club (it’s free and you can easily do it on carnival.com) .. there’s always various sales going on, and this was the cheapest one that was offered to me.

What side of the states did you sail?? I think it sounds like the Florida side?? I have never seen a deal that cheap Thru vifp ??
