It is politically motivated. Jordan never did that. He didn’t reveal his patient’s names and share their stories. As someone who goes to therapy, if I thought that Jordan would do that, or if I saw him do that, I’d lose all respect for him.

He didn't do that and i believe he was a professor who was teaching and not practicing and it is 100% politically motivated because he isn't left leaning enough (im pretty sure he's described himself as a classical liberal). He actually did do it and I saw the clip where he discussed his client. Yes, he did not reveal her name but he was definitely speaking of his client in a denigrating way. I remember thinking to myself, “yikes… I wouldn’t want to be his client and be talked about in this way 😬 “.

The people making the complaint weren't his actual clients. Just random people probably not even the same country. And the tweets were critique of Trudeau, 2 jokes that were clearly sarcasm. And some political opinions. Some rude remarks aswell if you'd like to see it that way. But also a political critique. But here's the thing if a rude take on something is enough to get 25000 dollar re-education how are normal psychologists and professional going to be able to critique things, They can't afford saying what they really think. And there shouldn't be any repricussions to being rude unless you're inciting violence anyways. Because the moment you limit free speech for professionals there can't be discourse. Students get access to patient files during clinical experiences and we also have to sign confidentiality agreements. Textbooks may also seek permission, use examples of patients no longer living, or its directly relevant to what's being discussed. Not just shit talking clients... Same with information shared in a classroom. On a podcast is not acceptable if they can identify themselves as your client.

The example you provided of teaching students is part of HIPAA, you sign in healthcare that your record can be used in teaching in a controlled clinical setting, this doesn't include public discourse. Also, something that was mentioned in the initial report that people seem to be missing is the effect on psychology as a whole. People saying "well he didn't name names", it truly does not matter, hell the story could be completely fabricated and it still doesn't matter. Trust is one of the largest pillars of psychology and even lying about breaking the rules of that pillar is more than enough to get your licence revoked. If everyone in the world saw jordan peterson say stuff like that, they would assume it happens all the time, psychology loses credit as a field and less people seek mental health help. Of course that's blowing this out of proportion but if any psychology board let ANYONE get away with this then people would start using it as evidence to be exempt, and far more confidentiality laws would be broken in the process. He broke the rules of his license and the terms in his contract, therefore his licence is revoked, its simple as that, the naming doesn't matter

Theres hundreds of people who don't get checked for things because the stigma, so yes I do feel the same about doctor mike (although I will also add that doctor mike uses anecdotes to educate, whereas peterson does it purely to tear his patients down, not that that means dr mike can do it, but I feel like that why people are more okay with it)

Perhaps College of Psychologists of Ontario can take some of their own advice.

These are to make sure you are using best practice at all times. I'm sure that you wouldn't want a surgeon who hasn't learned anything new since they graduated 20 years ago. The same way a psychologist needs to keep abreast of best practice and dead naming people and refusing to use preferred pronouns goes against best practice. Using your logic it would be fine for him to do that and to do conversion therapy on gay people because that was best practice when he graduated. We should just ignore the part that current research shows that these practices have a high incidence of giving people PTSD and them wanting to unalive themselves because Jordan Peterson deserves his free speech.

As somebody who works in this field in my 9th year, that's never been my experience.
