so if we believe in reincarnations, how would one know if their ancestors re incarnated in another body/family? like setting up an alter for people who have already incarnated. makes sense... i need clarity,
I tend to not mention the ones that need elevation, but reserve prayer for them that they find a better way. I don’t call their names. If something comes up in divination where I need to give them attention, I comply, but I love them from a distance the way I would love a toxic family members from a distance.
Carol Johnson Yes. Ancestor altar is first. Develop a relationship with them first. And also, have a divination first ( a reading) to find out who your Orisha is. It may not be Oshun.
sancista 7crossroads thank you so much! Some ppl feel because they feel a certain connection to an Orisha, the Orisha is their Ori. Sharing personality traits with an Orisha, doesn’t mean that Orisha is your Ori. As a matter of fact, most ppl are shocked or surprised after consulting an expert Ifa and they find out the Orisha that governs their head, because they never had a connection with that Orisha or never heard of the Orisha. And you’re right, an altar is never needed to connect with any Orisha. mortal ancestors during the transatlantic slavery never built an altar. The did offerings ( ebo) and burn wood fire and they danced, chanted and praised the Orishas.
