Any idea if this (or a variant) will be coming to the e90 n55 platform? Or is there any way to Retrofit it curently? (2011 335i on MHD Stage 2+) It's really hard to be precise with no active monitoring. Calculators, speculation, and feeling her out can only get you so far lol

Great video, thanks for the info 💪. I have a 2020 Supra currently running an MHD stage 2 with 91oct. With the MHD flex sensor, does it have a new OTS map to dynamically adjust for any E mixture or would I need a custom MHD tune? Also, when leaving the MHD OBDII wifi adapter plugged in, it sets off the car alarm when locking the doors even if I disconnect the phone app from wifi/OBDII. It makes it annoying to have to reconnect/disconnect the adapter everytime I get in the car to use the gauges.

If they don't already have OTS maps for it, I believe they will be adding it in the future. But it's usually best to get it from a custom tuner. The dongle pulls power so that's probably why the alarm goes off. As long as it's plugged into the port it'll draw a current. Unfortunately that's just something that you have to do if you want to connect it every time you drive.

Hi kevin if a run 93 stage 2 mhd and i put e85 and the mix is e30 the tunes adjust auto likes the stage 2 e30 mhd tunes because is hard to get e85 so i dont run everyday ethanol thx

So, you will say is better to install flex fuel on B58 than putting port Injection and let the flex fuel sensor do the work?

Those two things solve two different problems. Port injection is still going to be helpful if you're running out of fuel. And it will take advantage of full E85 if you decide to run that in the future. But you need the flex fuel sensor for the tune to adjust appropriately. There are also port injection controllers that can use the flex fuel sensor reading as a part of the fuel control. So they all work together.

So what map do we flash with on mhd if we get that flex fuel kit from mhd? I have upgrade hpfp and lpfp and currently on stage 2+ e20 tune. 2015 335i n55. What map would i choose ?

You don't have to change your map when you're running the flex fuel kit. Just flash a flex fuel tune and the car will automatically adjust. If you flash a regular e20, E30, ETC map then you need to just make sure you're getting your mix right.

For those with a90 supras - can we run straight e85 with a flex fuel tune on BM3 with stock injectors and pumps? With the tune effectively dialing it back or do we still need to blend down from e85 ?

What’s your thoughts on ethanol degrading components, is that true? Why wouldn’t BMW implement flex from the factory, and do you think running ethanol affects longevity of the motor?

There are no issues with running ethanol. Just keep up with your maintenance.

Question: With a flex fuel kit installed and with it only reading the absense of fossil fuel, how does this tune differ from a ots 93 tune? With flex fuel installed, does it read only ~10% ethanol if I put a tank of 93? I wonder what tune differences there are with running ots 93 vs flex fuel kit running 93(in a scenario where I can't find ethanol stations)?

As the video shows it adjusts for any ethanol content. If your pump gas is 0% or 10% it'll adjust

@@kern417 I guess I was looking for the nitty gritty details in how the tune adjusts. Like a highly detailed chart showing tune adjustments from e10-e85. Butt dyno just tells me "sure, theres ethanol in there...i go vroom vroom" 😆

There are only a few tables that are adjusted but the main ones we care about are fueling, boost, and timing

The sensor is just what the tune reads. You'll still need to flash a flex fuel tune that uses the reading as a part of its calibration. Both MHD and BM3 will be releasing flex fuel capability in the future.

Correct. It's basically adding a sensor that the tune needs. But you need a tune that can actually read it. They work together.

Running E20 on a 93 octane map doesn't mean you will make more power. If you want more power then run a tune for whatever ethanol mix you'd like.
