In this video, I will reveal why your body can't handle a punch to the liver and the science behind this devastating punch. Liver punch is one of the best punch in boxing to land on your opponent but it is also the worst punch you can take. I will also share 2 effective ways to land this knockout blow and also how to take body shots better. Taking a liver punch is why, to this day, I find myself instinctively guarding my right side whenever I spar. Pain was unbelievable.

About a year ago, I went to a boxing gym for kids under 18. It was a massive BS gym to. It said no contact, but kids would get into a ring with nothing but a mouth guard. I was the last match and fought a 16-year-old boy (I was 11 at the time.) He kept hitting me in the head with shockingly painful shots, but I slipped him and hit him in the liver. He collapsed to the floor. I was scared I would get in trouble, but the coach said "Yeah, finally a good show." Also, earlier today, a kid came up to me after school and just pushed me. He landed a few shots to my chin and chest, but i punched him in the liver (lightly, but still.) Don't get in fights, unless you are defending yourself.

I'm trying to get good at liver shots. I'm southpaw so it's a lil tricky for me. My liver is on my lead side, but I have to use my power hand to reach my opponent's liver, since they're typically orthodox.

This pain cannot be described, after the blow you literally cannot breathe. You really feel how all your energy has dropped from top to bottom, and if you ate before that, you’ll say goodbye to food

Had a big dude in highschool accidentally elbow me in the liver during gym class bc we ran into eachother, couldnt breathe for a couple seconds it was like a jolt, like the pain and shock you feel from your funny bone but everywhere lol

Tony, you should use more footage from your own fights to illustrate these principles - that was sweet 👍 ETA - even better would be a video where you go more in depth on your career, maybe show highlights of some of your most memorable fights and analyse both you and you opponent, it'd be interesting and insightful.

Got sucker punched in the liver once. Lost my breath, could barely stand on my feet but I didn't fell down which is probably due to calisthenics training. However, I did develop a fear of fighting after that and not sure how to overcome it. The thing is, I was also outnumbered and cornered with no one to help. I can't begin to descriebe how helpless you feel after a liver sucker punch that takes you out and being surrounded and outnumbered

Took a liver shot once ... yeah, once was enough for me. Pain was unreal and it shut me down. I wanted to continue, but I literally could not. Sickest feeling ever.

Took a spinning back kick , first my legs left me then i couldnt breath for a while. Was able to get up in time but i wouldnt take any more of that

I got hit with my first liver shot about 2 months ago. So painful got hit in the soles plexus then the liver shot came in. But was the weeks afterwards that lingered for 4-5 weeks.

My mma gym doesnt have punching bags: the instructor is pretty good and almost all the atlethes do regular national matches, and some are even pro fighters, is it still good enough, even if we dont have punching bags or a ring?

7th grade I got punched in the liver. I fell to the ground and was freaking out struggling to breathe. Had no idea why it hurt so much more until I was well into adulthood and learned this.

Idk if bro was going for it can't remember if he grazed me or the punch was light but I felt like I needed to throw up. Happened in a bunch of street fights too but I never went down. I just pray it never ruptures. Looking at these full on shots is wild. P.s. this is NOT a brag. I am terrified😅😂😂

If you don't have a trainer, you should be practicing the basics absolutely perfectly on your own. Because if you build bad habits and technique on your own, a trainer is going to make you start all over again. So don't waste your own time if you can't get a trainer yet. Start slow and make it perfect.

Whilst I agree a liver shot can be devastating, I have to disagree with the liver being the largest organ. Sorry Tony, but the largest organ is the skin. Other than that, great lesson. Keep up the good work bro As a left handed fighter, I do like to put a hook into the liver when I get the chance as I'm able to deliver the power with my left hand (and hips), which most people dont expect 😉
