Can you do a summer transition to fall? I feel like for the first time ever I’m feeling the summer fits and not actually looking forward to fall - but I know you will have great ideas!
i think many people's capsule wardrobes suck because we focus a lot on outfits and not nearly enough on JACKETS. i live in nyc and it's brick 3/4 of the year. your jacket is really all people see. with a nice statement jacket, i don't have to do nearly as much work on my outfit. instead of buying new clothes for the season, i can just thrift one or two new coats and call it a day
I feel like it's also important to keep in mind that the women you see on Pinterest and social media are often skinny and/or fit the beauty ideal! It's why you might feel disappointed when you try to recreate an outfit and you feel it doesn't look as good on you. Sometimes I find it's best to stay off of social media for that reason, because I find myself loving my clothes and outfits more when the inspiration comes from within ✨
It's interesting how in basically every other style of shoe, a black leather option is the most basic, sleek, versatile option, whereas in sneakers it's the white sneaker. Especially because white sneakers show dirtiness so quickly. Opting for a black sneaker in that context makes so much sense
Los angeles apparel sells blanks of non cropped baby tees :) It's called the classic baby tee I think? It hits me personally between my hip and waist. I've seen screen printers use them before so you can def get them wholesale!
Excellent tips, Laini 😊 One of the things that really helped me feel like I had more versatility in my capsule wardrobe was to focus on the fabric texture and weight of my pants. I found it didn’t take much conscious thought to have a variety of fabric texture and weight in my tops, but my bottoms were all more or less the same. Maybe slightly lighter weight ones for summer, but basically still the same. I added in light weight satin, poplin cotton (has a bit of a sheen) and even super light wool. Just having different weights and textures to play around with gave me a ton more options. A plain mens oversized t shirt and flowy light weight satin pants and I’m feeling cool and comfortable in the heat but also it’s super easy to just add some accessories and change the shoe option and I’m ready for whatever social thing is going on in the evening.
hi Laini, talking about perfectly fitted baby tees, my favorite one is from "In print we trust"!! it's not cropped so it's perfect 🤌🏽 (but there's a print on the t-shirt so it's not plain white or another color)
Just wanted to say I've been waiting for a follow up to your first capsule wardrobe video cause I found it SO helpful! I feel more put together now that I've started noticing those small things about my outfits that make them more/less "polished".
I'm with you on the tee shirt packs. Because white tees don't tend to last long, no more than a year or two at best, I don't spend a lot of money on them. Hanes tees are great.
i have soo many white shoes and i have been looking for a black one! so i decided to order the black sambas after watching this video seeing as they were still available at the adidas site in my size. i hope they look good on me and the sizing is okay and they match my outfits as ive never worn adidas shoes before.
As a guy, it never made sense to me why ladies need so many purses and clutches for numerous occasions or fashion. I myself have one billfold that I hold onto for 5 years or more, until it's about to fall apart. Even my thrifty mother had a lot of purses. I couldn't figure it out.
Does anyone know of any sneakers that are easy to clean? I work at my colleges dining hall and I worry that if I get a pair of sneakers vs just wearing my docs they will look super nasty after not long
I would recommend going for a “leather” sneaker as opposed to a suede or fabric sneaker. I know it’s basic, but I’ve used my air force ones for work for several years, and they just need a wipe whenever they get dirty. Most activewear brands have leather sneakers
