Same! When I started watching her I was using a kognac sponge for one minute to cleanse & my skin was so irritated but I thought I would get acne if I didn’t clean super good.. followed by witch hazel toner! Drying my face really well & then applying moisturizer &’wondering why my skin felt so dry all day!! Now I’ve been following her recommendations about a year & my skin is rarely ever dry & feeling a bit oily now. I never knew I didn’t have dry skin really. I was just making lots of horrible choices! Oh. I also used to use tretinoin & not sunscreen!!! Oh! The pain 😩

Same here! 😁 My friends always came to me for skincare advice, even though I realize now that I was somewhat oblivious about it.. After watching Dr.Dray every day, I started to sound like a dermatologist! 😁 I started using sentences such as "stratum corneum", "trans epidermal water loss" etc..

I have normal skin that gets dry sometimes from treatments.. but get clogged pores also when I don’t cleanse well. I can’t decide if I want the hydrating version or the purifying one!

Yes! I am trying the Purifying cleanser since Saturday (first time trying La Roche Posay... based on recommendation by Hyram)... and I do like how it cleans well... but doesn't over strip my skin... I been using Rovectin and Wishtrend Duo-Acid for exfoliating... i feel like the Purifying cleanser does both of it at the same time. I live in california, and my skin is so oily and its pretty polluted too... so i need something that deep cleanse, yet gentle.

Neutrogena ultra gentle foaming cleanser is a low pH cleanser I believe the pH is 5.5. I’ve used it for years and it is not drying yet you get that satisfying foaming that removes dirt effectively. Although I must admit now that I’m a bit wiser I have been enjoying the Cerave hydrating cleanser as well. I just can’t give Up a morning cleanse and this allows me to not overdo it, but the foaming cleanser in the evening makes sure that any make up is fully removed even after my first cleanse.

I bought & love the LRP Gentle Cleanser! The Aveeno Calm & Restore cleanser hadn’t given an effective second cleanse, but this one is perfect. It also takes off my oil cleanser with less rubbing than the CeraVe hydrating. Thanks for the rec.

Not me using Dial liquid soap before finding you!! Is double cleansing a necessary step or are there some cleansers that can do both steps? If you do have to double step should you do the oil cleanser before or after the other one..? It's a lot to learn!! I think I have combo skin (mostly dry) and live in an unpredictable environment with hard water. I have started using lukewarm water instead of hot and I don't use the exfoliating scrubs anymore but I find it's really hard to get off my sunscreen without it?

I’m curious if you’ve used the Soon Jung whip cleanser, it’s a foam type of cleanser with a PH level of 6.5. My skin is dry and sensitive and I usually never go for foam cleansers, but the ingredients of this particular product looks pretty good and gentle :) Love your videos 🌸💖

Hi Dr. Dray! Love your videos. 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Very informative. I've been using a milk cleanser and love it. But is it ok to use a wash cloth to wipe of the cleanser completely. I do it gently and I do this because it wipes of the makeup even more. Then I rinse with cool water.💕

I know blue light from screens can cause aging. So if you’re using phone/Tv without blue light filters you would still want to wear sunscreen.

It is good to watch lab muffin beauty science on the estimated amount of uv indoors and about blue light damage. In short blue light from phones is way less stronger than blue light from the sun. However, there are no studies on the accumulative effect of blue light from screens from daily use

Foaming cleansers are a lifesaver in Florida. Even in winter, the humidity level can be up to 100%. Also fun fact: The CeraVe hydrating cleanser and the foaming cleanser both have the same pH of 5.5.

Hey Dr. Dray! Recently I found out that the Vanicream cleanser seems to have been tested to have a PH of 6-7. There seems to be conflicting opinions on whether or not this makes it suitable for sensitive/rosacean skin, along with the inclusion of Propylene Glycol in the moisturizers. Some sources also state PG could potentially be an irritant for rosacea skin types. Can anyone vouch for or share their thoughts on this or the brand in general? I know some swear by it, and I definitely like the simplicity of the formulas. I’m just worried that we could be potentially making rosacea/skin conditions worse. 😭

Their liquid version is so drying on my skin! I like it right when I wash my face but then I start itching like crazy. I’ve decided it’s just not good for me... Even my oily teens who can use really foamy cleansers hate it.

I didn't purchase that one because there are a lot of reviews where people were saying it made their skin burn. I have very sensitive skin with rosacea and I've been using the olay sensitive moisturizing lotion for a few years. It looks like the beauty fluid but has no fragrance or spf. Hope that helps. Its really good

Please do a video comparing the ingredients of popular Cerave products with the store brand versions. I just tried the Equate Ceramide PM lotion from Walmart and it gave me perioral dermatitis. I can't say enough how awful the Equate products are.

Helloo,I know that what I’m gonna ask is not related to the subject but I really have some unanswered questions. Today i decided to switch from differin to tretinoin 0.05 % after watching Dr Dray’s videos. I got super excited ‘till I saw a video in which a young lady tells that tretinoin is bad not only for skin but for other disordes like crohn’n disease or frontline hair loss and intoxication with vitamin A or asthma. is there any side effect for tretinoid? Like to put myself in danger and are these information reliable? Can tretinoid cause other health problems? How long should I use tretinoid? Thank you !!!

I went to a lot of dermatologists cause I got an adult acne and they were like ooh no it’s nothing but after watching dr Dray videos i got rid of it with differin and I think it’s time for the next step,tretinoid.

Thanks for the video Dr. Dray! Just wondering if we can use serums like hyaluronic acid around the eye area if it's not specifically labeled for eye use? I know you say that many body moisturizers can be used for the face. Does the same go for serums?

Yes, you can use it around the eyes. Since it's considered a better ingredient to use under the skin (where it naturally occurs) then topically, it is sometimes injected as a wrinkle filler around the eyes.

@@db-gb5xi I know that we produce it naturally...I contacted the Inkey List about their hyaluronic acid serum and if that can be used around the eye area. They told me that they have only tested it around the face & not the eyes, so they can only recommend that. However, I've heard Dr. Dray say a few times that facial moisturizers can also be used for the eyes. Was wondering if the same idea applies to serums?

Question about double cleansing: is it a bad idea to use the water-based cleanser without first rinsing off/emulsifying the oil cleanser? (Trying to minimize my rubbing.)

I’ve been using the Matcha Hemp cleanser from Krave for.. a year? I’m very happy- I thought you might mention it?-anyway I test my skins ph first thing in the morning and when I use that cleanser and their Great Barrier Relief my ph is perfect!

Dr Dray has videos where she has recommended the cleanser so it's probably fine. You should know based on how your skin feels/reacts to it.

Agree that, bc she’s recommended a lot before, it’s probably fine. For what it’s worth, I have dry skin and rosacea (super easily dehydrated bc of this barrier defect) and I have no issues. It’s the gentlest but also most effective cleanser I’ve ever used. I think if it’s not causing issues for you, it’s fine. I took that as kind of the overall message of she’s saying: that if you’ve having issues, look to the pH as a possible culprit. Also, if it were a random small brand, it might be different, but I trust Vanicream and their formulations with my life lol. It is so hard w the rosacea to find things that don’t sting, especially cleansers. I personally will definitely keep using it.

What are your thoughts on pantothenic acid and it’s effect on cystic acne? I started taking 1000mg a day two months ago with absolutely no expectations of it actually helping my hormonal acne (really bad at ovulation, less at period). It stopped it dead in its tracts. How in the world?? I’ve had cystic acne for years. Benzoyl peroxide and differin have helped tremendously but nothing topical really stopped the hormonal flares of acne completely. Is B5 just a temporary fix?

Hi Dr Suarez I was wondering if you would be able to share your thoughts on the packaging of the inkey list retinol product? From what I know retinol products should only be packaged in metal tubes or airless pumps in order to stay stable. Thanks!

I’m no expert, but seeing that the Neutrogena RWRR cream comes in a tub, I’m sure there’re ways to stabilize and preserve the efficacy of retinol in that kind of packaging.

@@SamMKKK i Tubs are definitely not a good idea for a retinoid product. As far as I know there is no stabilizing technology in the world that could justify that. Also, Neutrogena has reformulated most of their retinol products over the past couple of years to slash the amount of retinol to the bare minimum while still selling them at the same price. So I don't have much faith in Neutrogena's stuff anymore.

What about toners? On a video I recently watched, the make up artists were catering to more mature skin but emphasized the importance of using a toner after washing and before moisturizing. One artist mentioned that the toner "restores the pH balance". What are toners and what purpose might they have in a skincare routine?

See her video, do you need toner and essence. Toners these days shouldn't have to "restore pH balance". That was back in the day when soaps/cleanser were a lot more harsh. They can offer additional moisture. One of the estys I follow is a big proponent of toner but she recommends one that is hydrating but as for being necessary, that's probably a personal thing.

Oh no... Can I alter the pH of my ridiculously alkaline cleanser by adding a bit of lemon juice each time? 😂😭 I have pH strips to check... Man what a waste.. 😭 (serious question though lol..)
