I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer with 271,000 miles on it. No oil leaks, no oil consumption, beyond normal. 22 MPG on hywy. I just drove it from San Diego, to Seattle and back, I maintain it regularly with normal maintenance. I 'm sure it will go to 350,000 and it is totally paid for. Love the car! Easy to drive, Looks great.

The owner of a sandwich shop here in San Diego county told me last week the minimum wage increase has cost him an additional $8,000 to 9,000 per month to operate.

A guy did a study and found out 60% of Federal employees are "working from home" he also found out the majority of them is doing 20 hours or less of work a week and getting paid for 40 hours! He said he has freinds who work from home and they tell him it's great nobody ever checks on them and they MIGHT work 2 or 3 days a week and get full pay and benefits.

My daughter just got laid off from her second waitress job. They are only open a few hours a day now and won't be long before they close. It's an old, old established restaurant.😪 Her current restaurant is seeing a decline in customers like crazy. She's getting out and going into health care

The Ford Lightning EV pickup is $78K. I can get a GMC 2500 Crew Cab (four-door) with 8 ft bed (full size) for $56K. The diesel model is $9K more at $65K. So the EV pickup is 10 grand more than a full on Diesel model.

Groceries are super expensive. Last week groceries... here are some of the items and prices: orange juice (2.78 qt) - $6.99 -- two - four years ago used to be about $4 - $5. pie (from grocery bakery) - $7.99 -- two - four years ago use to be about $4. I could list a ton of other grocery items but I don't recall the exact prices. All I know is that EVERY grocery item I buy has increased in price significantly. If grocery shopping has become so expensive who is gonna spend money eating out at restaurants when they can barely put food in the fridge at home?

This is a great time to amass books (yes hardcopy) on survival and 'how-to...' on cooking, what to grow, what to eat, what to build, what to do to survive without supplies from wherever...... Soon you'll need to be able to be self sufficient, and off grid.....

Stores often call the police on shoplifters but then won’t press charges or even trespass the thieves. This is probably why the police refuse to keep responding.

Born and raised in California, I moved three years ago, in the middle of the Covid crap. I have watched the real estate market on the central coast ever since. I always watch Zillow. The first year houses were selling in about 10 days or less. ( mine sold in less than 24 hours) Now they are just sitting, Even over 100 days. If you look at another site where they show repo’s you will recognize some of the houses that used to be for sale, last month or earlier. Thank you for all the info on real estate. The market backs you up.

It just happens my wife and I called in a take out order at Olive Garden last night. We had Lasagna that will feed 4-6 people, a large ,large salad with 12 to 14 bread sticks. Included, was a bottle of dressing and heavy duty plastic ware. All for $65 dollars! This was in NC.

I've seen multiple businesses in my city that haven't gone out of business, they just moved because the landlord raised their rent by huge amounts. They refuse to pay it and move out. Then you watch the space remain empty for months or usually years.

Some commercial real estate by me was converted to self-storage units. Another property was sold, zoning converted from commercial to industrial, building demolished to be rebuilt and converted to a warehouse.

Hi Dan U.K sub here. I follow an English vlogger who's just released a holiday vid in USA, specifically in Manhatton, where he went for a meal at a diner near to Times Square. He ordered a burger and apple pie and a Rose lemonade. The burger was quite small, the pie was quite good but the bill was $57 including the tip. Regards from Chester U.K.

Lol, everything I do is affordable because that's all I'm willing to do. No one is happy when they dine out these days even at the finest restaurants and it's not just about the price but the food and service. I've been enjoying chicken wraps for lunch lately with the $1.99/lb boneless chicken breasts we got last week that I pounded a little to make them a uniform thickness so they'd cook evenly and seasoned with kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika before grilling them. I had another $2 lunch with the wrap, Clausen dill pickle spear, cherries ($1.99/lb) and an ounce of semi-sweet chocolate chips for another 17 cents. Why on earth would I go to a restaurant ever again?

Hey Dan, let me begin by saying that I really enjoy your channel and find much of the info to be useful and valuable. Sometimes your logic is unlike mine but that is for a different comment. This is specific to the comments about Montana and Wyoming residents being taxed out of the state. Montana has no sales tax, relatively low income tax and property tax which covers a big chunk of our spending. We also receive a lot more from federal taxes than we pay in, mostly for roads. In the past ten to fifteen years and especially since COVID, we have seen a big influx in people moving here and (not naming any names), really driving home and property taxes well beyond the existing economic base. Wages go up just enough to get by just as they always have. As a community we have put a lot of money into our local taxes to support making our communities really wonderful places. Parks, open space, markets and safety. Often we did this at the expense of higher wages thinking that living here is more valuable than making money somewhere else. Our property tax is based on the value of our home so for everyone that scraped by to own a home our asset value has gone up but wages not so much. For every person moving here and bidding up the cost of housing, one Montana will leave. This is becoming more evident with the change in attitudes and lifestyle they bring. The saddest part of your assessment is that it is true that we will sell our homes because we can't afford taxes that were driven up by those who have benefitted at our expense. The good news for you is that should prices collapse in California enough, we will be your new neighbors and I believe you will be better off for it. Keep up the good work and know that your efforts are appreciated.

Government needs to stay out of regulating businesses. Government can stop business from doing illegal things, but telling business what to pay people is way too far. Jobs come with an economic value determined by the business.

We have so much residential real estate going up around me I would sure love to see those forclourse signs go up. One apartment complex is going up so fast, you can tell they are racing like crazy to get it built, so far successfully. SC is where I am.

The old Paul Simon song "At The Zoo" runs through my head when I see this video. The mountain lion looking down is Governor Newsom looking at who to fleece next with higher taxes and fees. At 14:30 the peacock's calling her 'offspring' to "hey, hey, come out and play." At 17:20 those are Califlornia state legislators.

That's one reason to leave the city scene if possible, and as fast as possible. It's going to get worse. It's getting to the point where those office buildings will be completely empty monuments to a changing world. Will you be able to survive what is coming? I am thankful I live on an acreage, four hours plus from the closest so called 'major city.' My last visitors, two days ago, were a doe and her still spotted twin fawns who came to munch on my lawn (2 acres of it). If you can get out of any major city, it just might save your life in the next few years. I believe this year is only the opening scene of a destructive decade of hell on earth.

Zoo animals look happy, Dan. maybe many are sad. We probably in more captivity than they are, but our brains are telling us, there still a way out.

9:35 Olive Garden. My friends and I go out for their Lunch Special. Unlimited Soup and Salad. It's basic and lovely. Once every few month(s) to catch up. Always delicious and everyone just gets the same. I drink only water always. I rarely drink anything else in my daily life. Easy to enjoy a light lunch with friends.

In Texas some families are sharing one house. Three siblings moving into a two story house with their families because they can no longer afford their current homes. SAD

The restaurant industry in Arizona is a little bit better off, but they are trying to raise the minimum wage from $14.35 to $18.00 an hour, which obviously would really hurt the industry. The snowbirds and the refugees from California and other states help the economy but the cost of a house has doubled in the the last 5 years which really hurts the locals. We have a new Tractor Supply near us and also an new Home Depot nearing completion on the SE side of Tucson, which is growing fast. Think that shows the popularity of Arizona helps our economy. Theft is a problem here too, one Home Depot on the Tucson west side (aka Mexico2) has an armed guard and of course all the high value stuff is locked down at all stores. I heard that he highest theft Home Depot in the state in Phoenix hired off duty cops and the theft dropped dramatically.

Dan, I live in Yuma Arizona and we are seeing a very large uptick people moving from California to Yuma Arizona. I live in a gated community. It’s very reasonable to live here. And the people are very caring and here we look out for each other And we’ve also noticed that it’s very hard for these people that are moving in from California to open up and be friendly. They’re not used to that..

I was out and about and I got hungry, so I went to InNOut burger 🍔 I count find the double meat 🥩 almost the thinness of a piece of paper. I tasted more of the bread and topping than the meat! Crazy! I try not to eat out because I am always disappointed ☹️

as far as casual dining goes... I visit Ruby Tuesday in Marietta 30062 for their menu specials. Their regular menu prices are just too high and not worth it. If they run out of coupons etc...I will just stop going there also. just the way it is.
