Hey! Hope you enjoyed this video :) I’ve been uploading Tutorials, Scripts, Thumbnail Breakdowns, and BTS Content every single week on my Patreon. I don’t make any money on RU-vid so Patreon is the best way to support my work ❤ www.patreon.com/RyanNg
@@jackson_bernhard Most of his thumbnails don't really relate to his videos, and I'm not going to take like 2 hours reflecting on the 2 videos I posted on my youtube channel.
Everyone has an authentic story to tell, and I love that. I get so tired of the over-the-top super eccentric videos at times. Don't get me wrong, they are entertaining. But some days I'd rather just watch the interesting story of a young man in his room, chasing his dreams.
"vlogging is being run by insecurity" is the most "authentic" take i ever heard on it. Being your authentic self and sharing stories from a genuine place with the right intentions is in my opinion, the best form of "Vlogging". Great fucking video Ryan :)
Ryan, never stop making the videos in the way you do. They're honestly so refreshing from the typical clickbait stuff you see on youtube all the time. Your story telling and creative expression is what sets you apart and that's what keeps at least me coming back to your channel again and again.
Bro this was so good. This video itself literally proves the point you’re trying to make throughout - you don’t need crazy stuff going on to be entertaining. Keep it up man
I feel like people are so bombarded by the fast-paced and crazy lives that youtube potrays, that they can no longer focus on the creators that will actually leave you feeling happy and with value. I don't know how to describe it...for example, I can watch a video from MrBeast, and yes...its entertaining, but it doesn't offer a personal connection. It only gives you temporary happiness, and then you go off, back into the sea of the algorithm. But with creators like you, Max, Emma Chamberlain, etc. it doesnt feel that way. When I watch one of your videos or listen to one of Emma's podcasts, I feel like I know you guys...it feels like I've just had a genuine conversation with one of my friends, and that's what keeps me coming back for more. Also, because of that connection, my brain basically holds you and someone like Casey or Emma as equal. The subscriber count doesn't affect it, my brain just recognizes you guys as... "friend". And I feel like this is even further accentuated with the example I gave about MrBeast...most his viewers just call him by his brand name (MrBeast), which just shows that lack of personal connection. And that lack of connection is why I really feel like the new genre of vlogging that you, max, simon, natalie, tanner, aiden, and emma have already unlocked is the future of youtube. Because you cant find that personal connection anywhere else.
Ahhh I love how you're putting it Luis. I think it's that personal connection that is slowly being erased from the platform because it's becoming a lot more of a idea based platform, but I think both can live together. Right now it's just leaned too far to one side.
Most engaging "static vlog" I've ever seen! I found your channel last night and have already watched like five of your videos. Crazy high quality, Ryan! Keep up the work and your success is a sure thing.
Man, you're better than 99.9% of Netflix expensive films, hands down. Great song, great editing, you take vlogging to another level. Honestly I don't like Casey Neistst, vlogs ain't my thing, but you take your videos to a goddamn great quality level. Congratz, man, you're a beast in what you do, great skills.
great video ryan. i feel like you are speaking to the everyman that still wants their story to be heard but their lives are just normal lives... keep it up!
That letter INFRUIRATED me. But I understand where the writer is coming from. I understand that what "makes it" on TV on the internet, is usually huge, extraordinary, flashy- I just don't believe that makes it valuable. There are countless beautiful French, Portuguese, Iranian films that are slow, calm, simple, mundane and incredibly human. Films about a boy searching for his friend's home to give him his homework, films about a girl going on an idle vacation with her older cousin at the beach, films that are not about supermen and superwomen, but are everything to the human experience. You're going to change things Ryan, there is a place for this kind of art in people's hearts and it just needs time to find them.
@@RyanNgFilms That's the thing- they do have a plot, just not with the same structure and style we got so used to seeing in Hollywood films. But they definitely feel as if there is no plot while you're watching because we're so used to expecting these big, idea-focused events you know?
You’re super eloquent man. You’re able to craft into words and a story something that I’ve felt for a long time but haven’t quite been able to convey even to myself for a long time. Everyone’s life is a story that deserves being shared even with your own self.
You are a real inspiration! You have no idea how much I needed to hear this especially today❤ thank you for being you and wish you all the success and happiness in the world🙏🏼
Grounding & refreshing. Your point about creating from insecurity is so true, and I think we all buy into it without even realizing what it is. Thank you for creating authentically!
I honestly love your videos and think that you are right. I have never gotten invested in anyone's vlogs to know enough about the science behind vlogging, but I do like to see relatable people. And now I have seen that people fabricate even just relatability and I do love it when I see someone be an actual normal person. Not crazy over the top, but not crazy boring or monotone or someone just trying to be #relatable, somewhere nicely in the middle.
so excited when I got the notification for this! BEEN WAITING for the new upload! but who am I to criticize, I haven’t uploaded in a month 😅 absolutely LOVED how you externalized your internal thoughts, many of which I closely identify with. the idea of not having a “vloggable life” was what initially held me back from creating, but I hope I can find a way to deeply relate to my audience in the same way you do. also, this film looked GORGEOUS, as always! can’t wait for the next one, I’ll binge your Patreon in the meantime :) much love bro ❤️
So much love Nick, looking forward to your next video as well! I will hopefully be uploading every 10 days or so, but currently working on improving my titles and thumbnails, so that might take some days away from creating my next video.
Hey, I just wanted to say you are crazy talented and I'm sorry if sometimes you aren't getting the attention you so much deserve. You inspire me to try new things because you are my basically my idol. I am 15 years old, I've been studying film and editing in my middle and high school for 5 years now (I am a sophomore in high school) and I have many of the same ambitions you have. I want to make it big on RU-vid, I want to make amazing videos with endless amounts of creativity, and I hope to be accepted into NYU. It's interesting to see how many of the things I have learned are shown in your videos, such as the music and hooking the viewer in the first 30 seconds. You have taught me many amazing things, but some aren't as happy, like how unstable RU-vid can be, and how you can get millions of views in one day, then getting less than a thousand in the next months. You can do everything flawlessly but still not get the engagement you were looking for. You can be so creative and unique but RU-vid doesn't promote you. But on the other hand these experiences can help others grow. I use my RU-vid channel to showcase my editing and how much I've learned, I'm not concerned about how well I do anymore, just if I am learning and getting better. Because soon I will be at a level of experience that can help me go forward with anything I put my mind too, a level of experience that you have Ryan. I am not fully commenting to RU-vid yet, I'm experimenting with different types of videos and during the summer I will doing an apprenticeship with a news company my dad works for to learn how they edit. I don't know really where I'm going with this lmao but I believe in you, don't give up, and I wish you the best of luck! Also, I promise you if I had the money I would spend $100 for your Patreon so I could actually chat with you and learn more like if I was your apprentice, I might have enough money saved up on my birthday though, so I hope to talk with you soon!
Much love dude, thank you for such a kind comment ❤ If you can't afford it please, I encourage you to use your money for something else haha. You're super young dude! Keep creating and exploring!
Hi Ryan! just reminding you that I see your work as less of a RU-vid past time and more as an Art project with a lot of character behind it, thank you for being inspiring!
Hey Ryan, this is absolute gold right here. The thing is, your videos resonate with me so much more than the flashy, over-the-top, clickbait videos. Maybe because I'm also a young person trying to make it as a creator, or just that I can relate to the real experiences and thoughts that you are sharing. If your videos have this impact on me I know there are countless others who can benefit from what you create. I think as it stands many people are more eager to click on something with that flashy title or thumbnail for that quick few seconds of satisfaction or dopamine rush (which I've found to be unhealthy). However if people like you keep sharing these real, and valuable stories than I hope that will instagate a shift towards more viewers watching this type of content. Anyways sorry for being long winded, I don't usually comment on videos but what you do really is inspiring to me! Keep going man ;)
Now RU-vid algorithm is stupid! I hate it! Bro I read the YT Formula by Derral, I read many articles about how to grow and I listened to many podcast and watched a lot of videos about it. It's still possible to become a YT star, but hard.
Yeah 100% I read that book too. Also listened to every mr beast podcast out there, but you still need to find your own voice and your own direction. I realized the books can only take you so far. You have to fall on your ass a bunch also.
I feel like you're interesting because you take on your channel different, logically, and aren't another wanna-be Logan Paul and I'm fascinated by the journey and think that more and more ppl, once they find this channel (I pray to the yt-algorithm) will be as hooked as me to see what'll happen next. Ryan I think you're a major part in a revolution from (sry) stupidity back again to w/o-getting-depression-enjoyable content on social media and YT especially. (Btw the take it as a compliment that I left a comment bc the amount of comments I've ever left in around 6 years is countable on 1 hand)
Ryan, I just saw your video. I'm so lucky I got to meet you and in that shot period of time I can say that you are a very interesting person, with really good points about life, I learned so much from you. You don't need a crazy lifestyle to show off. You can make a lot with all the thoughts you have in you and all your different perspectives about life. Thank you for being so authentic, I love you and miss you Man Hope we can meet up soon again :)
This feels like a redux of The future of Vlogging. It's interesting to see how other artists use external motivators, I'm currently using mine to get back into 3D & working out
I’m 35 and in London and I feel like my life is boring and I’m trying to vlog haha so I mean…age and location aren’t the issues. This video is on point. Loving your videos, found you on Digital Spaghetti btw 🎉 you’re doing just fine
One of the most interesting things about your vlogs is how "normal" you are. That very fact makes you unique. I think everyday people can learn from your storytelling because I really do believe that to be a great vlogger you simply need to be able to tell stories from everyday life - which my man, you really do!
You got the point really quick and that’s what I love about your videos Ryan. I’ve always wanted to start vlogging but have clung to that idea for so long that my life just isn’t interesting enough since I have a 9-5 job. Maybe I should just give it a shot. What’s the worst thing that could happen, getting 0 views? Oh well then.
Im so glad you took this and made it into a positive message for yourself and for us. The need to craft a 'vloggable' life is laughable, not to mention seriously damaging to mental health! Kudos Ryan, as usual. Your life is awesome, keep living it!
Ryan, I really love your content on this channel. I have watched every one of your videos but I never am truly as interested as I used to (sorry if that seemed harsh). Your older videos like "Can I sell this commercial for $1,000" or "How I lost 50,000 subs" were a huge hit. And maybe you find those videos not enjoyable to make, but it seemed like they were to you. These videos as great as they are, only appeal to a very small audience and I know what your goal is, I know you are searching to change how vlogging is done. If you are fine with probably never being a big name on this platform that is fine (I guess I never can know for sure though). But here is what I am suggesting; You have really really good editing skills and your storytelling is also really good, just try making some content that still provides lots of actual valuable knowledge and gain but also appeals to a lot of viewers and is something someone would see and eminently want to watch instead of just clicking to support the creator, which is what most of my friends do at this point (we all are like your channel). this is merely my opinion, if you want to completely disregard this comment I am completely fine with that, it's all good. But if this helps in any way, awesome. All the Best, Isaac
EDIT: before you read the rest I just wanna acknowledge that I got deep as fuck in this. Lol. I did not plan on sharing this much, but this video really touched me, man. I really related heavy to the shit you were saying. In fact, this whole RU-vid New Wave is a movement that hits so close to home for me. I agree with the ideals and morals y'all are pushing. Good video, thanks for sharing. With that being said, get ready for the story of the last 3 years of my life. 😂 I've never related to a video more. "Stunts a creator before they even make they're first video." That part hit home. After doing RU-vid for the last 10 years, in 2021 I finally hunkered down, got all my boys involved, and we put a vlog out every week all summer. At the end of that summer I got a new job, met a bunch of new friends, and got a girlfriend. With all this new interesting stuff going on in my life, we quit filming. Eventually, me and my two closest friends (who keep in mind were both part of the vlogs) moved in together. Whilst living together we all got into making music, we had some of the best memories of my life, we met new people. It really felt like we were growing up together. The 3 of us were a family. A year passed, and we couldn't keep up with paying our condo, so we all moved back home with our parents. Through it all we had always planned on getting back into the videos. It never happened. Even now, after being back home for a few years, we still haven't gotten back into it. I've tried joining video classes at college to reignite my passion, but it hasn't been effective. Recently one of those friends, that I lived with, made videos with, who was one of my two BEST friends, unexpectedly took his own life. That was about a month ago. One of the last conversations we had, we were talking about making content. I had expressed around that time how I just felt like, "why is what I have to say even important. Now adays everyone's saying something. So why should I think I have something that important to say?" He had told me, "We just have to believe we have something to say. We just have to." He was right. He is right. We CANNOT undervalue our own experiences and lives in comparison to others. A topic the two of us commonly talked about in the last year was how much entertainment and media, and crazy amount of it nowadays, affects us all. Especially having it from the time we were kids to now. It's hard to get off the phones, it's hard to not spend all morning consuming all this content out there, its hard to get up and create. But I truly believe we all have SOMETHING worth sharing, and to undermine yourself out of sheer comparison is ridiculously unhealthy.
i'd agree with the letter writer you don't have that interesting of a life as you young and still live with the parents. but you will get a more interesting life as you get older. 106k subs and your great story telling is a good start though. 106k of us are interested enough to sub to you. keep it up man.
Look at some of Richard Linklater's films, they're sometimes just moments of life. Of course, they have conflict in them but they also show humanity in the mundane. *Slacker* (1991) still remains a cult classic to this day. Napoleon Dynamite (which is sometimes criticized for "not having much happen") remains one of my favourite films Keep at it, Ryan!
