The craziest part about andre 3000 album is I've literally been looking for something i can listen to at work that'll help keep my energy calm my thoughts flowing with positivity and relaxation something like the calm sounds for sleep or the ocean sound at night when nothing else is there but with a lil twist and man this might be it for me, I'ma give it another full listen all the way thru every track tonight at work but im a 43 year old man who just realized a few years ago how important my peace is so my soul is hungry for anything that just feels good. I think im burnt out from all the tuff ish man i been in that ish all my life im really blessed to still be here alive and free
That man told y’all he was coming out with a flute album. Gave a disclaimer that this is a flute album with the 1st song on the album. And y’all mad that you just listened to a whole flute album?
Who the fuck don't know it's many types of music? They all pale in comparison when it comes to hip-hop,when it's done correctly and artisticly. Foh wit yo bullshit take, groupie.
Young people been doing more kinds of music like this who are actually great at it but u just haven't been paying it any attention until a famous rapper decided to try it 👌🏾💀
@@504Trey lmao folks dont know what they dont look for....especially our people... everything is "new" to us when in reality it isnt. Always late to the party or always take things for face value. Before rap we were doing all other genres and were playing all the instruments. Not really opening a new door. if anything you're reopening one thats been closed
Still got love for 3000 and he is still in my top 5… he is a musical genius… with that being said, I listen to all forms of instrumental music (meditational, jazz, big bad, orchestra). The album isn’t connected musically. At the end of the day he has the right to create whatever he desires musically. In the same breathe, we have the right to enjoy or like wherever our musical taste lead us.
The vision he had for this project apparently doesn't translate to commercial notoriety. He has taken the liberty of stepping out of his comfort zone. We all have to spread our wings.
Lol I listened to this shit today and said im'a start playing this while I sleep, told my girl I was walking around feeling like I was in a spa getting a reiki treatment
Expecting a beat on this album says more about you than the quality of the album. He told us what to expect in the interviews and in the title of the first track
he shouldve titled the album "Andre benjamin plays provisional woodwind" or some bs like that. Not a Andre 3000 album. Andre 3000 is his rap name. he's trying to sell that bs woodwind album under his rap name. Thats f&^^ up!!!!!!!!
@@504Treythat's to you. John cage wouldn't be popular today, but He's the inventor or trendsetter of Sampling sounds and noises. Clearly today the appreciation of art and music is diluted thanks to hip hop fans.
For whatever reason wicked never misses the chance to sh!t on 3000, even before this album. It’s like how Skip does LeBron everything is negative. Even with 3000 not rapping he will do more numbers than anything wicked put out, maybe that’s the reason. Thought Process 🤔(pun intended)
Andre making chill spacey songs isn’t even anything new. He made songs like Vibrate and The Prototype back in 2003. This album is an incredible journey if you like ambient music or 70s jazz (I highly recommend both). Just because it’s not a HipHop album, doesn’t make it bad.
Is it high quality flute music though? I have ZERO clue what good flute music is supposed to sound like. Does he have any hot flute sections that could be looped like Future's "Mask Off" or Kodak's "On Everything"?
I love it, but I’m also a person who loves most genres of music. I love him as a Hip Hop artist, but many of us are on the same frequency that he’s on now with his flute. The mind needs to calm itself throughout the day. I enjoy it with yoga and reading. Hats off to him for allowing us into his space. P.S he’s not trying to compete, he’s trying to live on his own terms. It’s called being grown.
Sometimes we need music to calm the soul down. Specially in our culture. He did it because he has the platform that will reach more people then other artist who do this regularly. Rap is over saturated. You can get that from anywhere. Let this renew your mind for the present moment🙏🏽.
Hell nah Wick u off on this one 😂. I enjoyed Dre's new project its a chilled experience. Not for everyone but I appreciate Dre for being artistically creative on his content
I believe 3000 new album is great. It shows his artistic diversity. Children all over the world have music they can calm too. I believe 3000 album will blow up with a whole new audience ❤️😎🙏🏿
If you the type who only likes 808's and high hats and being hard all the time and can't get with an artist being free. Then this album ain't for you. You can't put your restrictions on another man talkin' bout what YOU want. There is a huge audience around the world, for chill, laid back, 432hrz music, that folk can relax, work to and vibe to...if you don't know now you know...
Nicca a orchestra, a jazz band, the song at the end of movie credits. He can't fuk with Miles Davis and still can't fuk with Big Boi but I'm a fan for life not this album though. Give me Love Below
@burdrchitect1680 just because he's "vibrating" or whatever doesn't make it a good album. People on the whole andre 3000 bandwagon and don't want to critique it. If his name wasn't attached to it this album would be a MAJOR flop on the jazz scene
Ignorant criticism, they critiquing it from a rap perspective. That’s the problem with hip hop culture it’s always about competition. 3 stacks just felt like making a flute album he’s not trying to be the best flute musician of all time.
@@AD-wg8ikno they are critiquing from a MUSIC perspective, the guy clearly said that he enjoys several different types of music, but the shit was trash.. that’s his opinion and I share the same opinion.. the melody had no direction whatsoever on any track, I could record my 7 year old nephew and get him to play random notes and make something similar, shit was wack as fuck, and I love 3 Stacks but keep it real man..
@@FoolisH409 Wicked named a few _mainstream_ artists in _mainstream_ genres. Then he explained all the things Dre "should've" done to make it sound appealing… to the mainstream. That's not what this is. Yeah, calling an obscure amateur jam session "André 3000 on Epic Records" is somewhat false advertising. So those expectations are valid. If you know the composers he named in that GQ interview, the sound may be less confusing. People comparing it to Kenny G aren't even on the same page (and that's okay). I would like the names Brian Eno and Aphex Twin to mean _something_ to folks if they're gonna tell me what this music is failing at.
@@rollerboychrischristopherj134 imo It's still way better than some other mythically hyped albums that tried to be different like "To Pimp A Butterfly" , that was a real creative dud for me with almost no redeeming good songs , but I like multiple songs In New Blue Sun , almost every song has a portion or passage that I get creatively Immersed In and vibe with. I already liked ambient and trancelike electronica to begin with In addition to Hip Hop and many other genres , so this sound was easy for me to click with. I'm not saying this still can't suck to some people but In general think alot of peoples musical tastes lack diversity and they're not as open as previous generations were to anything outside mainstream trends/sounds.
The album is dope. And I can respect the fact that it's something that he's passionate about and honored that he would share it w/ the world. Besides as fans we can't tell artist what the can and can't put out. "I'm an artist, and I'm sensitive about my ish" E Badu
Andre created a peaceful album at a time when the world needs more peace! We have to let him grow and evolve into the man he chooses to be, not the one we think he's supposed to be. 3000 has always been ahead of his time. He just raised the bar for rap n hip hop, and he just took a huge mf step back into the music industry on his terms!
I love the album. Andre is on a artistic level that Wicked could never reach. Wicked distain for it reveals how limited he is as an artist and music lover. He has new music with Cee lo and Daz but its going to come and go and be forgotten while this Andre album will go down as legendary.
I don’t think they’ve never heard of healing frequency music like 432hz or 528 hz. At this point I prefer 3 Stacks music over that toxic trap music. It’s healing music, people!
Funny thing is when speakerbox/ the love below came out I remember a lot of people including myself didn't like it because he only had 1 or 2 real rap song on it & folks wanted more rap. But over time people understood it better, this is the same thing, folks just don't know what to do with it yet because it ain't what you wanted
I don't know where y'all from, but The Love Below was an instant classic. We expected it to sound like 'Hey Ya' but were pleasantly surprised at how soulful it was. Speakerbox was disappointing though.
I ain't mad at 3 stacks at all. I respect his musical and spiritual explorations. I ain't really mad at the album either. There's just a time and place for it. Maybe you could play it while relaxing or sum. But we really wanna hear you spit again, 3000. ✌🏾
Engaging with Andre 3000's flute album is quite delightful. Taking the time to revisit Big Boi's albums and then immersing myself in Andre 3000's work offers a richer understanding of their collective creativity. The intricate artistic elements found in OutKast's albums resonate with me. Personally, I appreciate the depth that unfolds when I analyze each person's contributions to the album of the past.
I love the flute album, it’s called high frequency music, I listen and meditate on this type music all the time, he gone blow up even bigger especially in places like India where they love this music.
Album is dope! Dude had said Dre isn’t know for playing the flute, he’s known for playing multiple instruments. Once in a lifetime talent, man can do it all musically!
For all of his genius he has displayed for 30 years this is not what we needed from a man who is probably the definition of quality over quantity. This is not what was needed
@adamrushd8096 as a "first album" I think he will, although...as something he'll compare to later work, probably not. Artist tend to always cherish their first work. That's why he labeled that last track "....dungeon." Because he never forgets where it all started.
Y'all still don't know Dre? Or, y'all forgot about the wrong Dre? Andre 3k is 100 years ahead of your understanding. Thankfully he's out of this world.😊
Please...PLEASE EXPLAIN how this makes him 100 years ahead. Tell me ONE track that proves that and I promise you I can point to another jazz song better then every track on his album
You two should get a band director on the show to talk band culture, the flute and this album. Get an old school director like a retired director from FAMU or Jackson State. I listened to one song, and as a former band student, it wasn't as bad as you make it seem. P.S. Andre out here looking like a WuTang Kung Fu Master with a giant bamboo flute. 😁
Band students and real musical instrumentalists will understand and appreciate it. I wish black people would respect and appreciate other musical genres, such as Classical. A lot of black composers from the past have been given their respect.
Dre has been LIVING and that’s what a lot of people don’t do. He’s been experiencing life and vibrating high. His art is just an expression of where he is in life.
As much as I don't care to give the project a listen it's sad how badly people coming at 3k for his newfound love for something other than rap. I don't think he's pushed it out to be critiqued next to some good flute players, he's just passionate about what he's created and done it for himself and his creativity.
These same types of people have come at Dre across his career trajectory, for repeatedly stepping outside of their limited expectations. Aside from his anxiety situation, I'd like to think he's prepared himself to not give af that it's happening again. Or at least focus on the people who have legitimately found healing in this work.
It's completely amazing to watch people not understand that he's just doing his own thing and finding what works for him. As if artists owe their audience something.
Artist usually do owe their audience something. It's understood by most artist who become famous and rich.. they usually feel indebted to their fans because without them they wouldn't be rich.
@@renderserHe was famous and rich because people liked and payed for what he was doing. That doesn't mean he has to keep doing it when doesn't want to or when he wants to do something else. An artist is not a slave of his fans expectations. I'm glad he doesn't treat his fans like babies by feeding them the content that they want so they don't cry about it
You don’t have to like the album, but realize that 3K is an ARTIST. True artists aren’t confined to one medium of expression. I’m glad he was able to express his art the way he saw fit
I respect everyone opinions but i get the impression that he wants to take his music in a different direction. I can see him bringing out a kinda of hip-hop indie album in the future but as for now he's thinking outside the box working on something that is personal to him.
“They would have told us to go to hell, and stay there” “MJ playing baseball”. Never heard B-High speak this way of 3 Stacks before lol. Damn man. I support 3K. He already did the job. He don’t have to do another rap album.
CORRECTION: 3 STACKS NEVER BEEN THE SAME SINCE BOTH OF HIS PARENTS PASSED AWAY MONTHS APART FROM EACH OTHER...I THINK HE'S STILL FEELING THE LOST FROM THAT
I really wish it did. Roy has classic melodies and rhythms. He even sprinkles in some Vocals - "Everybody Loves The Sunnnnnshinne!" I do give credit that the "Frequencies" are soothing and the Vibration seems to activate the Chakras, but "Rhythmically" not on the scale of the great Roy Ayers.
@TheJblack89 Gotcha! I just wish he added a little bit more "Vibe" like Roy. Give me a lil something to tap and nod my head to. Sounds like a smorgasbord of random sounds in an empty space. I love Andre, Big Boi and OutKast. Huge Fan! I actually met them in Atlanta at Freak-Nic in 1994. Andre handed us their Cassette Tape Southernplayalistic. He actually put the tape in my hand directly. We had no idea who or what it was. It wasn't out. After about a hour of riding around Atlanta we "popped" it in and were like Holy Shit!! We assumed it was just some locals handing out Cassettes. It was the entire Dungeon Family. I looked at the back and saw LaFace and we were like damn, this is Historical and getting the cassette from them directly was even more consequential being it was before they were known!! I'm with Wicked - it could have been a dope Instrumental Album just like back in the 70's but EWF, Parliament with their many instruments they brought "Funk" and "Rhythm". I'm such a huge damn fan though I'm going to play this damn New Blue Sun until I know every Flute Chord by memory 🪈 🤣🤣🤣🤣. After 1,000 more Listens I'll come back and change my opinion if needed 😊. It's definitely much needed!! M.C.'s aren't saying "much of Anything" these day's so I think they all could be QUIET for a while and just let the music play. - Respect 👑
@@Unplugged7007 he's new to this type of music which Roy was at the beginning making classic music and sounds I think round 75 or 76,like "searching" is my favorite from Roy, Sunshine
All I have to say is Andre having a sound and Ear for music for so long. I expected the album to feature more soul elements. Featuring melodic unison horns, organ, guitar bass and driving beat with the flute sound. Inspired by Hubert Laws, Gene Page, Quincy Jones, Issac Hayes, Barry white and Roy Ayers.
In other words... it's a disappointment and there's no shame in saying it. I don't care who made this album. It just doesn't get it for me and I'm into earth, jazz, etc
@Drifting2458 I'm into new age, ambient, and several relative sub genres. The fact that it's poorly mastered takes away from the experience, especially within such a genre where higher quality recordings are standard. Ever listen to Space Music? I've been into that one since the late 90s along with several others. The history of such genres goes way further back, but I'm digressing. I wish fans would abandon the narrative that people who aren't fond of the particular album is because it's different, it isnt rap or whatever condescending excuse is used, which isn't entirely the case. It's the fact that it sounds infantile for Dre's level of artistry. Overly drawn-out intros, the overall EQing of each instrument sounds like the studio monitors came from Walmart, the different woodwinds are almost indistinguishable, and improvisation sounds a bit forced. Perhaps the next album will be better, but right now the fact that many are upset that the entire planet isn't accepting the album on hands and knees doesn't change perspectives.
With all the stressful things going on right now, pandemic followed by wars... this relaxing álbum might actually sell really well. I'm looking forward to it.
That's the beauty of being who he is with a simple life and having the success he had. He can do whatever he wants. Don't matter if he sells 100 copies or 10 million. In the words of the late great Pimp C, "Ain't nobody trippin' cuz the money already made."😅
The funny thing is 99.9% of everyone saying they like the album is that they don’t got no instrumental music at all on their phones before that. Let’s be real none of us have gotten in a car or went to a house this was playing at. I respect it though. I can smoke a joint and be creative to it.
I just listened to some of the album. I thought that maybe he rap'd over flute tunes or something. I was like ish cant be that bad. Listened and said man WTF😂😂😂😂😂
I believe the album is an experimental experience and isn’t a typical album that one would be “jammin” in their ride. This is background relaxation music. I think the man is 48 years old and doesn’t wanna be famous. He just wants to enjoy life outside of the rap world. He doesn’t owe anyone anything!
