The amazing Idina Menzel as Elphaba. The Halarious Kristin Chenoweth As G(a)linda And, the cast of Wicked performs " One Short Day " on " The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade " Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Kristin's Costume was created specifically for that performance since they were performing in the freezing cold. It's literally something what G(a)linda would wear for the Holidays. She's also probably wearing the yellow dress under the blue dress. Also a few weeks before that performance, Kristin and Idina were performing Popular on the Today show and she got sick the next day (which the full cast was supposed to perform Defying Gravity on Letterman). Only Idina performed the song by herself.
this makes me cry for some reason. i mean these people you see here started the phenomenon that is Wicked. Its my favorite musical and to see it come so far just makes me tear-up.
I'm sooo glad this is on RU-vid because in 2003 during the live performance, the sound went out on my local NBC affiliate, right in the middle of the song
I remember watching this with my family. None of us had heard of this show and we were watching it thinking...what the heck is this? This'll be a huge flop. Glad to see I was wrong!
@epacmo1807 It's because they're actually lip-syching and the only audio being sent over the air is the pre-recorded track. So you can scream it all you want. :)
I remember when they showed this! We knew nothing about the show and m family and I were all "...what the hell is this? this is awful...this will bomb for sure!" Oh little did we know.
Nope, nothing to correct you where absolutly right. They, both performed Their own Songs. Idina - Performed - HER HIT: " I STAND " Kristin - From Her Beautiful Christmas - .C.D. Both Beautiful Mezmorizing PERFORMANCES Well, Got to go now, Bye Bye :> ))
Oh come on. She changed her name to Idina so it was easier to say and people still don’t get it right... *I-DI-NA* say it with me, *I-DI-NA* it’s not that hard!
@Coristutoris People who have actual talent, who have range in their voice, who can actually SING!You don't have to like Broadway it's TOTALLY understandable but making fun of it is insulting to the actors and everyone else who puts such hard work into it,...............
@Coristutoris ..............So yeah maybe it's not your cup of tea but please don't insult those who put their hard work and effort into it, not to mention talent. :) Also not ALL Broadway shows are like Wicked, you should check out "Spring Awakening", I have it on my channel. :)
1:11 is that Lady Gaga? JK On a more serious note, I've seen this show twice- once with Stephanie J. Block and Annaleigh Ashford and the nat'l tour w/ Marcie Dodd- and One Short Day is my favorite ensemble number. Seriously what is Kristin wearing? They couldn't put her in the white suit or something or create a jacket for the yellow dress?
@Coristutoris ...........it's SO much harder to be a stage actor, you HAVE to sing live and amazingly 8 shows a week(if we're talking about Broadway)! It's not and easy or reliable job, and I think it's really rude to come and make snarky remarks when you obviously don't know what you're talking about. It actually takes LOTS of talent to be on Broadway not like most mainstream musicians(though I do enjoy some) that just rely on auto-tune.................
It's to do with logistics, sound checking every production would be a nightmare to begin with and then who's sound mixer do you use? Do you have the mixer from the show come along? And then do they use a desk that isn't the one they are using a theatre? Are they using the mics from the show or mics provided by the TV station? If they use the mics from the show are they compatible with the sound desk provided by the TV show? How much time do they have to check this out between each segment etc etc. It would be a logistical nightmare.
