An emotional song written for the Maidiacs about how they missed playing for us and we missed them playing for us even more during the pandemic. Was supposed to be played live at Budokan until that show was canceled. Another item on the long list of what makes BAND-MAID so Awesome. Peace. 5.31
🐦 On Feb. 14th, 2020 concert *BAND-MAID* announced that they were going to play at *Budokan* on Feb 11th, 2021 playing at *Budokan* is like reaching the top of Mt. Everest but due to Covid the concert was canceled. In the live streaming concert *Saiki* address the fans and said how much *BAND-MAID* missed performing live to their *Masters and Princesses* and was followed up with this song that *BAND-MAID* has maid for their fans. 🐦
It was a song to the fans about how they were sad they couldn't do live shows in the time of the big C. But I think it also shows how they can do just about anything and be good.
Saiki gave a small talk before playing ‘About Us’ - “We were supposed to meet you today. For the first time in a year, we thought we could meet you all, those of you who could come to see us, but we can’t meet you in the end. I’m sorry. Even though it’s not my fault. We have been having days of turmoil for about a year. In the beginning, we were very surprised because we hadn’t experienced it before, and we had no experience of not being able to meet others in person. We were sad, but we found we shouldn’t be sad in this situation. When I saw you masters and princesses on social media, you were more depressed than us, and we thought that’s terrible. We Band-Maid have been thinking about how to cheer up all of you in the last year. We truly wanted to meet you at Nippon Budokan, but it’s impossible because of COVID, so let’s wait for the day when we can meet. And in the last year, during the COVID pandemic, we have become more eager to cheer you up, and we Band-Maid realized again it’s important to give our songs to you. That’s why we wrote this song for Budokan. We made the album also in the pandemic, so it might have a little similar feel, but this song is planned for Nippon Budokan, and we really want to give it to you masters and princesses now. Budokan is not our goal but just a stepping stone. We will perform at bigger venues, and we promise we will bring you there and give you even better songs, so let’s keep it up a little more. This is one of 3 Band Maid songs that gives me chills and goosebumps all over my body. This is also one of 2 Band Maid songs that makes my eyes start to leak, for some reason either the dust/pollen gets kicked up or someone wearing perfume is nearby.
"About Us", in the vein of other great mid-tempo Band-Maid songs like Daydreaming, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, Wonderland, Awkward, Start Over, Mirage, At the Drop of a Hat and Smile, is an amazing song and personal message to their fans - a direction I'm glad to see them add to their journey toward world domination. And we get to hear MISA play the vibe she so enjoys. Their beautiful DVD/BD/CD set with 100 page picture book of this incredible concert is unbelievable! This was the second love song (the first "Smile" was written for them) written and sung for us the fans. About us always leaves we with a tear in my eye. Saiki spoke to us and relayed a heart felt message to us before the band debuted this song. She spoke about the members wanting to do something for their fans only they could do. You can feel the emotion and passion from each of the members coming through in this performance. Similarly the members also rearranged "Smile" into an acoustic master piece. Okay guys another Band Maid track you should react to is from their Conqueror album. The song is "Chemical Reaction". It has a 70's hard rock grove that brings back memories. It even has cowbell!!
To add to what other have already said, the date of this show was significant as this was supposed to be their big show at the Buddokan, but was instead cancelled due to COVID.
Back during the dark days of the Globalists Plandemic when we were all locked down and the world was in a very dark place in time. Live band performances were all canceled throughout the world but Band-Maid kept their spirits up, writing new material and performing LIVE streaming shows for their fans. "About Us" was written as a tribute to all the Band-Maid fans throughout the world. These ladies are truly special to pay, we the fans, back for our support of them. That makes this song very special in our hearts and what causes my eyes to leak ever single time I hear it. Band-Maid is all about giving to their Masters and Princesses, which is why they are so special. It's not about them, it's "About Us".
When I here this song I always feel that Akane should switch to using brushes midway thru and then back to using sticks at the end. It seems nobody uses brushes anymore.
