I’m a very proud native Virginian, but have had an urge to move about the country before I’m too old to. Amongst all the crap going on in the country I still admire the land of California. And you make a perfect sales pitch. Sacramento seems like one of the more level headed areas of Cali
The FLIR for iPad/phone is great idea to see any issues, locations, etc.... They are also so much more affordable now, that having one in your toolbox, doesn’t mean need to take a loan out to pay for it. Surprisingly, they do come in handy on many different jobsites (I also use mine for electrical “troubleshooting” at times). Can remember when didn’t have one & finding a break or issue in the wire under the tile; meant putting holes in the floor to locate the trouble spot. Until next time✌🏼
I'm a stickler for small details and those two shower valves are about 1/2" difference in height. Being there is a grout line at the top of them highlights the difference even more. I use a laser level for everything that way there are no issues. Other then that the bathroom turned out well.
The shower valve closest to the bench has a diverter valve for a handheld shower wand. The valve itself is taller for that reason. That is why it looks different from the other one.
Couple of suggestions when checking continuity. When checking for Ohms make sure you’re not touching the wires of the probes. You’re picking up resistance from your own body so your measurements is off. Also when checking the ground between the load wires you need to change your setting on ohms to 200 M. This way you can see the absolute smallest amount of leakage.
Just wondering what problems you face when using a wire nut on the ground wire hookups? I used. A wire nut on the ground wires and now the red button keeps tripping. Is that something you have faced?
That remodel box for thermostat ... it's why no matter what trade, you always need an assortment of stuff in your truck to avoid making special trip to the hardware store
Excellent Video thanks. Did you just fish wire up from floor inside of wall and into box without anything special? You can cut temp sensor wire? Thanks again. 😊
Pro tip here. Go to daiso Japan in the Galleria and buy the little screwdriver kit. It's high quality and inexpensive. Isaac. When do we get to see you use your new fernco torque wrench?
Can I run a 120v heating wire on a dedicated 240v breaker? Double pole 20 amp....? The electrician said it should be okay but I think it's wrong....it should be a single pole 20 amp breaker which is 120v...Correct?
What do you do if you can’t get a dedicated wire for the thermostat? Can use take out the current 20amp outlet in the bathroom and install that thermostat?
I'm an electrician... I always run 1/2" flexible conduit (carflex or smurf tube) down the wall and stub it out at the bottom of the wall, notching out the base. The floor guys will pull their wires to the thermostat box through this conduit.
I just installed a ditra heat floor in my bathroom. It seems to be working fine, but I only ran one sensor wire under the tile. How often do the sensor wires fail and need to be replaced with the redundant wire?
I'm trying to locate a line voltage t-stat that is smart phone controllable _and_ has a child lock feature. It is needed for my senile mother's Eichler home. The existing thermostat has never been changed. It is one black wire in and one black wire out. Which leads me to assume I'm going to have to run a neutral in from the closest outlet. Thanks for any suggestions you might be able to provide.
You said you have to put a crimper on the ground wire and not a wire nut. If you did use a wire nut will that cause the ground fault light to pop o n for no reason?????
Hey Isaac, is anybody just allowed to electrical work in America? I see a lot of videos, where non electrical contractors and home owners do their own electrical in your country. In Australia, legally you have to be a licensed electrician to do the even the most basic electrical work.
In WA state your not allowed to even dream of an electrical wire without massive redundant fines unless your an Administrator electrician and passed all the political tests. But 90% of the working man doesn't care and some of us are better at it then some licensed electricians.
CAMERA GUY: Turn auto focus off. Usually if you hold focus button down it stops auto focus ... if this is an iphone just touch the square in the middle of the screen and hold for a few seconds.
Oops... From A to Z, a demonstration on what to not do. No tools handy, not checking resistance properly (body contacts), not checking the loose box, etc. Not nice to see, really...
Can't stand how electricians make a mess of drywall around boxes. Surely, there has to be a better system. In the meantime, I like the wider plates and outlet covers - gives a little more leeway for those gaps and looks more purposeful to boot.
That left box is a botch as well, likely the apprentice and no oversight from the electrician. The box with the thermostat was put on incorrectly as well, it was put on so tight the tabs were in the drywall itself. This type of box you either hand tighten, or tighten with lowest torque on your drill / impact.
