Yep. Update it as soon as you see that message...if you want to stare at a loading bar for a few hours. The best thing to do is to select cancel, as it will download the update in the background. Then, when you go back to it and select update, it will only take about 15 minutes.

curious question: does the wii U use gamecube controllers?

Were do you edit that connection or go to delete multiple connections? All I can see on my menu is connect to the internet find a recommended connection and view mac adress

From what I read it makes use of the Nintendo Wii LAN adapter only. I had a 3rd party one for the Wii, and it simply did not work on the WiiU. Good news though, as the wireless connection on the WiiU is pretty much on par with a wired connection on the Wii (had to redownload all the Virtual Console titles after transferring all the wii shop data)

This is obvious - however WiiU's wireless is way faster than the Wii's, since redownloading all 134 VC games I had previously purchased didn't take nearly as long as anticipated.

My WiiU wouldn't connect to my router at first. I had to enter the settings manually, and even then it would only connect to the router, not the internet (error 103 2001). Finally, I tried switching off the security, and it connected first time. after the update, I put the security back and it connected just fine.

The fuck it's simple. It's a freaking nightmare.

Wow, thanks alot for telling me how to manually set up my damn settings like 99.99999999999% of Wii U owners are trying to do! I have had mine since the 18th, the day it came out here in the US, and I STILL havent downloaded the damn update or anything, because my system CANT RECOGNIZE my router whenever I run a connection test! It recognized it when I search for a signal, but it never connects. I've tried EVERY online guide and Nintendo Support, but nothing has helped...

It's simple if you use an unsecured network, update it while unsecured. Put password back on wifi and can't connect . I found 3yo videos with same problems, I'm not impressed.
