This series was so unique and interesting. I’m sad to see it come to an end but I know you will bring us another banger. Love the work always keep it up.
32:03 Can we talk about how metal Mario is the only character in Smash 64 and possibly the entire Smash series who’s fast fall speed is actually SLOWER than his normal fall speed?
2:28:15 I think Piranha Plant was decided to be the final base game fighter as a joke late into development, but they didn’t have enough time to finish him before the games intended release. So instead they made free DLC, and soon paid DLC as just this funny bonus fighter. Note how he has no stage, no music, no spirits. The Petey Piranha spirit enhances from a nipper plant when it makes more sense for it to be a Piranha Plant. It’s the only DLC fighter with a Paletena’s Guidence. It has this weird triple jump thing that was cut and quickly soon was removed. They made it free at first unlike the other DLC characters. No base game spirit battles uses the plant inside of them. Possibly etc.
Man, this series is fun. It reminds me of when I got super into the Crash Bandicoot franchise years ago, and I looked up all the wiki pages and trivia about it. It is just fun to dive deep into interesting subjects like that.
Fact: You know how items used in training mode don't count towards combo meter, making it red? I found out when using the support spirit fast drop (makes you go down very fast and does damage when you hit someone, like with kaclang) it also makes the combo meter red.
1:22:22 What’s ironic about this is that Zombie doesn’t have eyes. The eyes on the icon are just their eye holes. And that’s funny that most of the icons have all of their eyes removed, but the one character who doesn’t have eyes keeps their eye holes even though it wouldn’t make much of a difference.
one thing that points towards squirtle using whirlpool rather than hydro pump is that whirlpool is an attack that keeps enemies from escaping, hence why the characters aren't being knocked back in the final smash
19:40 I feel like the hearts were supposed to be a part of Peach's animation (they fit her theming better than they do Daisy), but some programming goof somehow made them part of Daisy's back-throw animation, but *only* if Peach is present in the battle.
1:30:41 The weird foot thing might’ve been caused from the tinkering of his design and model. Some things fell through the cracks and were never fixed.
I'd like to get better about it, and I'm pretty good about it for other things (like TF2 clips, and coming up, TotK clips), but I guess I just always felt like, as long as the video's uploaded, I don't need to download and archive it Maybe I should download my whole channel and get everything stored on an external soon though, might be smart lol
"i wonder how many people got to this point without skipping around" hi :] your vids are always so interesting but i already saw all these vids but needed smth in the background to semi-pay attention to so it was perfect
The worst part about this being a giant video is that I WANNA MAKE SO MANY COMMENTS, CHRIST! ITS SO INTRIGUING! one thing i want to note for these spirit battles, theres a First Strike spirit that i beleive gives you super star invulnerability at 43:10 or so.
My guess is that the "Dedede" effect was originally intended to produce star particles on impact, as many things do in the Kirby series. As a boss character in the games, he has several attacks that emit star particles, including ones that spawn star bullets for Kirby to use. It was likely scrapped after they realized it'd look too goofy or inconsistent with Kirby and Meta Knight.
My guess is that it was originally intended for only Dedede to be able reflect the gordos with his hammer, but was later changed for balancing purposes.
The "7" and "13" numbers in Kingdom Hearts lore refers to the "7 lights" and the "13 darknesses" that are destined to clash each other in order to create the "χ-blade" , the most powerful Keyblade needed to summon Kingdom Hearts (also, there are the "7 princesses of light", which the 7 lights must guard from darkness). Master Xehanort, the main antagonist of the series, tried to replicate the 13 darknesses by himself to make them fight Sora and other 6 keyblade wielders who represented the "7 lights" so he could obtain the χ-blade and fulfill his plans.
27:52 Actually Nintendo's senior product marketing manager, Bill Trinen, has been quoted to say "The definitive answer is that Sheik is a woman- simply Zelda in a different outfit." So, "She"ik is a "She" haha I'll see myself out
One fact you could have given for random is that Smash Ultimate is the first game in the series where the character that's picked can also be in an alternate costume/color as all past games in the series just kept the characters in their main alt.
Wait… Has Pit had a different Final Smash in each generation (WiiU and 3DS being one Generation)? I distinctly remember his first iteration in Brawl having Centurions(?) move about the screen damaging things. On 3DS (and I assume WiiU) I recall he had Three Sacred Treasures… And in Special\Ultimate, I don't use or see Pit much; but apparently he uses the lightning chariot now, according to this video? Dark Pit's final Smash is still Dark Pit Staff… But in KIU, both Pit and Dark Pit use the Lightning Chariot - in fact, Dark Pit uses it *more*… Dark Pit should have gotten the Lightning Chariot for his Final Smash, and Pit should have kept the Three Sacred Treasures as his Final Smash…
Listening to toon links slashes in Windwaker and SSBU, you can hear the similarities. Of course the bang is missing, but the actual hit of the sword are the same pretty much.
Ok cool series and all, but HOW TF DID YOU GET A 37,769 HIT COMBO WITH DUCK HUNT (if y’all are curious how I know, slow down the intro (where he shows the characters, 0:55) . A lot).
Simply go to training mode and use a platform next to a wall that is too small to push you back too far to end a normal attack combo like Dick Hunt's, Bowser Jr.'s, or Young Link's.
For Ash greninja in the episode ash and greninja first connect with battle bond (what makes the connection happened its explained that ninja in the past had gotten a bond so close with their greninja that the battle bond phenomenon activated so its entirely possible it isnt Ash’s though if it was i find it funny because when Ash and greninja go their seperate ways right near the end of the XY&Z season of the anime it stays in kalos to help the Zygardes
I think that with the Shiek’s gender thing, Nintendo knew that Smash Ultimate would be more mainstream and introduce a lot of new players to the series, so in Ultimate, they use he pronouns to not spoil it.
I think Sheik using he/him would be a cool detail considering that Sheik is supposed to be a disguise, using separate pronouns would help dispel any suspicions people might have. So thats my HC
IIRC the comments were about how “Shiek couldn’t be a boy because Zelda is a girl and ‘always will be’ and not even magic can change that.” I remember seeing those comment and just closing the video after it finished.
4:30 “A record that’s likely to keep going up as the years go on” this actually aged pretty poorly 😭. Only a few more games in between the og video and Mario Wonder.
Tears of the kingdom is the best Zelda to my knowledge and i played ever least one and beat all of them but two that being skyward sword and spirit track and whan i started TotK i was scared it would be to much like BotW but boy was i worried for nothing.. but I am not really a fan of BotW but i still love all the zelda games and i can abmit that BotW is a good game for what it did but TotK is 100 time better than BotW for me at least,..
@shiek thing, the audience (well only if you played the game) knows the facade, but an unbiased announcer needs to play along with the facade. it's like how we have to pretend we DONT know it's Team Rocket in disguise until revealed
