PSX for me only PSX. Man I wish I could reborn in the same era again and live these moments again.. The nostaligia is really heavy for me when I revisit these moments.
This was a ridiculously good remake. It added so much extra content to the game it dang near made it a new game. I wish I didn’t have to sell it looking back.
I remember replaying the original wild arms back in 2021 then followed by the remake it was a pretty good experience the remake added so much content to the original but the authentic experience of the original really shines it really gives you the 90s feel of RPG and the OSTs are a lot better
Give me the literal original game. With that beautiful pixel art. Expanded side quests weapons / magic / ARMS / swords to expand the same story. With remake battle graphics - same original battle style - standing in place - with more force powers and more enemies. It would be perfect.
Honestly I love Wild arms, never knew they made a ps2 version that or I just forgot. All the wild arms games are decent but 1 is just amazing and I love it. Would really love to see a remake off it similar to final fantasy 7 remake. If a company put enough time and love into a remake I think it could be spectacular.
Personally I would prefer a remaster like with the Gensou Suikoden HD Remasters, but I definitely wouldn't be complaining if it did get the FFVIIR treatment. That would be insane!
@@PS1Fan1991 The PS2 version is more like FF7R. 5 new party members (2 are guests) and all the dungeons are completely overhauled. Just like with Final Fantasy VII and Resident Evil 1-4 the remakes are completely new games that exist along side the originals.
@@PS1Fan1991The Suikoden 1 and 2 remasters look terrible. They remade all of the backgrounds in modern, crisp HD but left the character and monster sprites more or less the same as they were on the PS1. The world and its inhabitants now look like they come from two entirely different games, from eras decades apart. Either remake the character sprites as well or just port the PSP version to modern systems and leave the graphics as they originally were.
Considering the series died in PS2, if they had waited for a later generation we wouldn't have had a remake at all. The artstyle was better in the original though, they used way too much colour in the remake, and they didn't use cell shading as in WA3 either.
I only ever played the 96' PSX version, and what I mostly remember is the awesome opening. The PS2 version battle screens are a huge improvement, especially since the 3D in the original was really crude even in 1996. Side by side I prefer the 2D sprites on the world and town maps though. The PS2 fonts look incredibly ugly and generic. I never actually finished the game, iirc. It had a lot of promise but they ditched the western theme for a generic JRPG fantasy world pretty early into the game and the storyline got bogged down in dungeon crawling. I never played the sequels, but I hope they did something with the cowboy theme.
We need a Wild Arms 1 remaster with Wild Arm alter code F models 3d model in place of Wild Arms 1's combat models. That's all That's needed to remaster Wild Arms 1. Better combat models only.
PSX emulation is only bin/cue. Iso images is everything PS2/gamecube/dreamcast/XBOX+ But for PSX emulation I'd go with the duckstation/retroarch with beetlecore.
Ps1 emulator duckstation support many format not just iso or bin/cue. The best format for emulator nowadays is chd format, it can save you many space because of size compression.
couldn't get into the mechanics of the remake...the original is one of my fav RPGs. Remake had some great music/graphics...but some of the new additions they adapted from the WA sequels didn't vibe with me. I did like how you could play as Zed though.
They almost made a better remake. The original is better though. Debatable which over-world is better. Beautiful pixel art or new grown ice. Battle graphics in remake are better. Expanded some story elements and added gameplay without changing the story. That’s all good. Everything else about the original is better though. Overall better game.

Media Vision/Sony should have waited until the PS5 to remake Wild Arms. The original was/is a classic old school JRPG, up there with FF6, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Suikoden I and II imo. Alter Code F failed to impress on just about every metric for its time, unlike the original.
Is it? I don’t recall WA much from back in the day. Maybe if it had come out for SNES and combat didnt looked meh. It’s a great game, but should’ve came out for SNES and not used the crappy 3D battle system. It has a killer intro.
@@maclovio9015 The 3D battle graphics didn't age well, however, it was the first JRPG to feature fast battles with fully 3D polygons which were well received by just about every videogame magazine at the time of release. The OST/sound, exploration, 2D graphics, puzzles, story have all aged well imo. Also, gotta remember there weren't many JRPGs released out West in the 90s.
@@Maximusbyronus Yup. I was there. That's why I said the game would've been an instant SNES classic. I get it they were trying to eat into the PS1 new console. I never liked PS1 early games, I got spoiled by the last games in SNES and their sprite work.
@@maclovio9015 I must admit that I am glad that it wasn't released on the SNES as I think that it did benefit of the benefits sound wise that the PS1 brought and also I wouldn't have been able to play it otherwise since I grew up with a Mega Drive and then my family bought a PS1.
@@cencil6497 No. I played and finished Oracle of Ages and Seasons, Minish Cap, and even Breath of the Wild. Silent protagonists pull down my interest but sometimes not completely.
this kind of remake i like, not like Final Fantasy VII remake, the totally change the gameplay of that game, graphics was fine but the battle system they make like a child style game play.. like press press press press hahaha... how i wish all the remake became like this.... im waiting for Legend of legaia, chorno cross (remaster was piece of failed for my expectation), suikoden 2, wid arms 2, Xenogear, Chrono Trigger, Legend of dragoon, and most titles in PS1 games need to be like this... not remaster ewwwww
