The answer to that question is yes. Marcellus Wiley, you work so hard to dispute obvious fact. While all QBs coming out of college has to go through rigorous evals before and after draft, those black QBs that are properly compensated have to go through much more and if you can't see that then I don't see how you are even given a platform like SFY. All the black QBs in the NFL today were drafted later than their games show and those coming out of college today are still being looked at with the same biased process (Justin Fields).

The coverage of Lamar and Josh Allen are the perfect example for this conversation. Both great young talents with comparable skill sets that entered the league at the same time. The media is constantly questioning Lamar’s throwing ability yet he has 68 passing TDs to Allens 67, 18 INTS to Allens 31, and a passer rating of 102.6 to Allens 90.4. Those are just facts. Lamar wins the MVP with 36 passing TDs and no legitimate WR #1, still questioned as a franchise QB. Josh Allen has his breakout year this past season, is an MVP CANDIDATE, and has an All-Pro WR to target and all of sudden he’s top 5. I like both of these guys but there’s clearly a huge difference in the EVALUATION of these players and the way they’re covered by the media.

Lamar gets shade because he’s been a bust in the playoffs. Just got his first win this year. Didn’t look amazing in the second round. Pundits talk about his passing because he’s a run first QB. Has nothing to do with his race. We’ve become race obsessed in this country and it’s not healthy.

@@9doggie12 bro, haven't we just seen players like Dak who ended their whole season after a freak injury where he shatters his ankle totally? A franchise is now on the hook for that salary against their cap where their season needs to continue and they were fortunate to have the backup they did. He plays and gets concussed. First game. I can't be mad at a team who looks at Lamar and says we love this guy but he's a potential QB who could end his season on an ACL tear or being concussed or anything freakish as well as his freakish abilities. Cam Newton also had to battle through that where he was beloved and STILL cut. Why? Because he couldn't play through the shoulder or foot issues. Injuries he sustained as a "running" QB. He knew that he might get hurt. But many believed oh Cam is husky and super tough. That won't happen to him. We now say the same thing about Lamar. Bronny who dad NEVER suffered any type of serious knee or leg injury now has a torn meniscus at 16-17. Every school in the country wants to recruit him. Now what will they say?

Marcellus often brings up the "double standard/reversal of roles" argument but what is always left out is that you can't reverse roles without reversing the history which informs the intrinsic power dynamic. If you're gonna reverse roles without reversing history you're intentionally leaving out the most important factor. The history informs the current social dynamic. There is a history that informs why that would be inappropriate in certain situations and a non-issue in others.

I believe there is still some race involved in evaluating QBs but it isn't coming from the majority of the evaluators. It is probably an underlying factor for less than 20% of the evaluators which is why you can still see the black QB thrive in the NFL. Even some of the criticism you see about Lamar from black and white is laced with a bunch of truth. If skin color meant so much Tim Tebow would have had a longer career but at the end of the day it ended up being the play style.

My opinion of a “Running” QB is a QB that has 5 or more plays design around running plays with no intent to throw. Russell and Steve Young, Rodgers where scrambling with the intent to pass first.

Randall Cunningham. Steve Young. Michael Vick. Donovan McNabb. Lamar Jackson. Eric Couch at Nebraska. Those guys were at some point all running QBs. Their whole careers? Not with Randall. Not Steve. Not McNabb, either. Race is definitely still a factor when it comes to executive, coaching and ownership in these major sport leagues. That is a obvious FACT. I DONT care that much about the QB position. We've addressed that verily enough. Most of the starting QBs now are either some form of running QB or are African American. Or both. How about why we have only 1 minority as owner in the NFL? Why is Michael Jordan the only black owner in the NBA?

Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen are great runners but were never was there a thought he should be receivers. So were Steve Young (former NFL all-time leading quarterback rusher) and Fran Tarkenton for the old school.
@soda8736
@soda8736 3 года назад
Rogers is a good runner .. Not a receiver type runner and there have been white qbs made into wr . like matt jones ,eldenmen, and they wanted to make Tebow a tight end and fullback.. Tayson hill is 31 and has never got a chance ,mabey until this year because his viewd as more of a runner
@17thNO
@17thNO 3 года назад
I never said there were no white quarterbacks treated like that. It was wrong for them to be done that if they had the ability to play the position. I felt Tebow and Tyrod Taylor were not given a fair shake. Due to the fact they did win, maybe not conventionally, but they did win. Now Terrelle Pryor nor Edleman nor Matt Jones had ever apparently showed the ability to play quarterback as well as at wide receiver. Shout out to Julian Edelman for winning Superbowl MVP and a really good career. Lamar Jackson has been the MVP of the league, thrown the most touchdowns in the league one year and been to the playoffs all three years in the league and won a game this past year. But yet and still the media still says he can't throw the football, with the tight end Mark Andrews being his best and most reliable receiver. Besides Hollywood Brown name the Ravens other receivers? It's not because of lack of achievements Jackson's ability is doubted.
@soda8736
@soda8736 3 года назад
@@17thNO But is that because Lamar is black or is it his style of play?
@17thNO
@17thNO 3 года назад
@@soda8736 It could be both. Andrew Luck retired early because of injuries, Aaron Rodgers suffered several injuries and Ben Rothlisberger will never be mistaken for Michael Vick and he stays injured. Vick stayed hurt, Peyton Manning was the ultimate pocket passer and got hurt. Football is a dangerous game where the people playing it more likely than not will get hurt. Alex Smith almost lost a leg and died. Quarterbacks are like raw meat to an animal in the woods to the defense, cause getting to that is how they eat. Get a lot of sacks and rushing the passer gets them big contracts.

@@17thNO i think lamar criticizm come from his style of play not his race ..thats my only point..because any white qbs that play or ever played like him get criticized. Imean run first guys that have designed qb running plays. Not qbs who can make things happen with thier legs. Its a difference
