Amazing to think that something made from bad materials in such a crude manner with little attention paid to the specilized maths required to make these engines work, actullay WORKS. some may argue its nt going to produce much thrust but the point was could it run at all and it ticked that box totally.

The lesson here, folks, is that with proper knowledge you can make a jet out of odd parts. He knew what to adjust to get it working, and he knew how it should work. Education is more valuable than proper supplies.

It won't. You can already see it going on a runaway just by the glow of the turbo blades; if he didn't cut the fuel after a few seconds the turbo would just overspeed and blow itself to bits.

Turbines are self sustaining and more reliable than a reciprocating engines, the likely hood of that turbo blowing up and such a slow speed is highly unlikely, unless the lubrication system fails. if he were to have a better lubrication system with cooling the system would never fail. Oh and btw, I am a Commercial pilot with an AMP license who flies a turbine powered Bell 206 with the Rolls Royce 250-C30P turbine engine.

Impeller shatters sending extremely high velocity metal shards everywhere. The oil, which is leaking everywhere catches on fire, quite difficult to put that one out. You touch any part of it and get an instant 3rd degree burn. The combustion chamber could rupture, shooting pressurized fuel into your face. I've seen this one, it's pretty gruesome. Other than that, it's pretty safe.

Not with PVC because you need to make a hard vacuum (unless you do it in space, but then why use a tube at all?). But linear particle accelerator is not that hard. Old CRT monitors are particle accelerators (shooting charged particles at viewers; that's why the screen glows!).
