Will A Nightmare on Elm Street FINALLY Get New Physical Media Soon? | Our Last Hope 

If Chucky, Ghostface, Myers & Pinhead can get a 4K release, then give us Freddy. They already know that fans will buy it once it's out. Best single release of the original was the 2 disc DVD set that was loaded with special features. So by slapping it on 4K with DV & DA will make us happy. Let the fans have what they truly want. Its a gold mine not to put it out on 4K. We won't care if there's second disc on Blu ray loaded with special features. As long as fans are happy, that's all we really need

Hopefully 2024 will be the year the NOES home video fiasco will finally be over and we have a proper proper box set with 4K scans of 1-3 with restored uncut Dream Child and buttloads of special features. Scream Factory has tried to get them, but WB wouldn't give it to them because "it's an active franchise" 1. Not it's not 2. So what? So is Chucky. As much as I'd love it, I don't see it happening in my lifetime. I'd like to see them all in 4K, but at this point, I'd take individual 1080p releases of them. That said, we're finally getting aliens true lies and the Abyss from Disney. Maybe WB will follow there example

Honestly at this point I'd be happy with all 7 Elm St. films on 4K with 0 bonus features. Just have each film with its own disc to maximize image and sound quality. Also I remember when the box set of the VHS and DVDs came out in 1999, the advertising campaign had actual TV commercials (The narrator saying "After years off the shelves"). Could Warners/new line have a "disney vault" style thing going on with the Elm st. series? OR maybe they don't wanna pay Mark Patton royalties for a new home video version of 2, since Mark gets something like 50% of 2's home video sales, which was a holdover from the first vhs and laserdisc releases.

From what I recall when Wes Craven died his Estate got the rights back to Nightmare on Elm St. So any new films, TV shows, home video releases have to go through Wes estate to get the rights. And the estate might be asking too much for Arrow, Scream Factory, etc to get the rights to do the set.

Dying for a 4k elm st box it will be a day 1 for me but I totally get what you are saying about letting us know it's being worked on so I can start putting money aside for it.

Seeing as the disc father was correct about the James Cameron releases it’s a high probably that the first elm street will be getting a 4k release next year as well. Although he did also say there was supposed to be a 4k of the Texas chainsaw massacre remake coming later this year but still not official word on that one so idk lol

I think it would be of great benefit to finally employ targeted and coordinated email campaigns. It would take some time to find the right contacts, but the physical media community has been super passive for so long, it's hard to gain any traction. Get a handful of channels together, then hit em one by one with specific requests (Warner, HBO, Disney.....etc.).

I cant understand how a company who is in financial trouble could just leave money on the table like that. They have to do something hopefully its not as crappy as the blu ray set just in 4k

I feel the same way. Nightmare On Elm Street is overlooked while all the other franchises keep getting 4K releases and new upgraded bluray sets, even Hellraiser but a beautiful box set and a 4K box set through Arrow. Even Night Of The Demons just got a 4K release and tons of new bluray releases with special features. Even when it comes to toys you NEVER get Nancy Thompsons toy but NECA and these company's keep releasing Laurie Storde toys and Dr.Loomis toys. I don't understand what it is with Nightmare On Elm Street and the sense of abandonment with it. I want new interviews and special features in a SHOUT factory release like Friday got

I have pretty much given up hope on an Elm Street set and if it happens I will be surprised. I can't believe we haven't gotten a set from Scream Factory yet when Michael and Jason have one already thats crazy to me.

I hope so but this should have happened a LONG time ago for ANOES. They could’ve done what Paramount did for Friday The 13th and done them for the anniversaries but instead, WB would rather milk Vacation for a slip and then a steelbook weeks later. I love that movie, but it feels like they’re ignoring Elm Street and are ashamed of it. I don’t get it. I don’t understand why WB is so embarrassed of this franchise. They would rather put out special editions for The Conjuring and Rocky. Great franchises but Elm Street deserves some massive love too. When WB did their boxsets for the 100th anniversary year this year, they included the original Elm Street in it but that’s all we get for the horror boxset of WB. This is getting ridiculous and I don’t understand WHY WB hates the movies this much. The movies are on Max now except for the original which is exclusively on Amazon I believe. Ty for the content and live streams Christian. It’s so frustrating that we can’t have one of the best horror franchises of all time in 4K.

me personally i think the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie has had enough of media releases and re-releases over and over. Enough of that. Some day i want to see a reallly good Shout/Scream blu ray collectors edition of Nightmare on Elm Street 2 and 3 since 2 and 3 are what got me into the Elm Street movies. Plus Elm Street 2 was on HBO alot back then in the mid 1980s before Elm Street 3 popped up

Ive been thinking about this alot recently, given that its celebrating its 40th anniversary next year. The optimist in me says it will get a 4k. Perhaps a steelbook if they want to market the collector. It has to get SOME love next year. It will be a tragedy otherwise. I desperately want a boxset. After all, It is the greatest horror film of all time.

100% agree. We got so much Michael Meyers bullsh*t so I'm not sure why Freddy, the literal most FAMOUS of all 80s slashers, still doesn't have a 4k box set release yet. Freaking ridiculous. This needs a FULL 7-film box set (not even asking for Freddy Vs Jason here) of fully 4k-restored A Nightmare On Elm Street films, chock full of new and old special features. Apparently these people hate money. I also wouldn't count on Scream Factory. They've been deteriorating in quality ever since they started becoming more successful.

I bought part 6 on dvd from the nice dvd boxset because I know they won’t include the 3D for the bd they will release I know they won’t do a 4K because they cheap and can’t even do the Superman films right on 4K

I have yet to buy the nightmare on elm Street collection on blu-ray & have just been using my old dvd's with the side snap cases because I thought we would have a nice collectors release of the whole series by now but we still haven't🤦. And quite frankly I don't want to give my money to a bare bones half ass release that companies like paramount, warner or fox will release just to make a quick buck rather than try to earn it🤦. It still pisses me off that as of today we still don't have a good region A blu-ray release for tales from the crypt the complete series, dawn of the dead (rot in hell Richard p Rubinstein you p.o.s.😠), the nightmare on elm Street series & I guess fright night 2.

NOES is also my favorite horror series by miles. It's ridiculous we still haven't gotten a 4K set yet. These films would look AMAZING in 4K. If we don't get the 4K series next year; I'm going to be really pissed. Hell, I already am really pissed.

Yes and no if released in 4K it most likely won't be done by Warner Bros/New Line Cinema it ether get released by Arrow or Shout Factory as Warner Bros/New Line Cinema as every major studio does these days outsource the transfers to Arrow or Shout Factory plus they always attach expert to make sure that every single frame is cleaned up the colors are corrected usual approved by the director of cinematography.When new technology anything outdated gets replaced just like old Standard TV sets are replace by flat screen TV.They are waiting for the film to turn 40 years later as it makes sense do not release.

I haven't seen the A nightmare on elm street in a long time. Not since like....2014? Parts 2-4, I watch on and off every few years. The original is great, but it's a Wes Craven movie. Other then Scream his movies tend to be great, but fall short of a great classic I can watch over and over again every few years. Again, Elm street is my second favorite slasher franchise. It is pretty depressing when thinking about the A nightmare on elm street series and the potential. To me it isn't just new releases, it's more then that. It's the franchise's respect and love. It just seems like the franchise's love has kind of died down. From my perspective, Child's play, Halloween, and Friday the 13th get far more love then the Elm street franchise. Which is a shame. I say we need an Elm street explosion in the horror community. My only issue with that though is "Please, please don't make a reboot." Even if you can't get Robert Englund, still try and make a sequel to the original series and TRY FOR GOD SAKES TRY to get it right. But to be honest...I don't want another Friday or Elm street movie or TV series. I honestly am fearful of the few Alien and Beetlejuice sequels coming out, because I am crossing my fingers going "Please don't suck. Please don't suck. Please don't suck. I beg you. I BEG YOU!" So in a sad way, I am kind of thankful for Freddy not getting the love, box sets, etc. LOL. Because I rather keep the franchise in tact and remain it's dignity and go another decade without a new movie then the new movie desecrating the original franchise and establishing another f**king reboot. That is why I was actually HAPPY that the Friday court case took so damn long, because it was delaying the inevitable.

To be honest, I don't want Warner touching it. You know as well as I that IF Warner does it themselves, they won't use the original artwork. I highly doubt they'd do any new features - at least nothing noteworthy. I can think of a few Warner titles where they did revisionist color timings. And to top that off, I can see them doing exactly what they did the last time. They released Elm Street as a stand alone. Then later part 2/3 as a stand alone. Then later yet, the complete set with zero options for those that already had 1-3 to get the rest as stand alones. My prediction is IF Warner does anything, first it'll be a 4k steelbook of the 1st one with bad art. Then a 4k standard release (also bad, but different art). Then if we're lucky enough to get 4ks of the rest, they'll slap them all together in the same case. Sorry, but Elm Street deserves the love that only a boutique label will do.

I'm holding out hope that Maybe..Maybe Scream factory or some company will surprise us with a new box set release with art akin to the Friday box set! But if they don't bother..I'll be happy with my 90's DVD box set.

I would love more than anything to see the Elm Street series get a much deserved 4k release. I’ll probably always consider the 99 boxset to be the definitive box. Those were the first dvds I ever owned. Everything else I had up until that point was still on VHS. So that one will always hold a special place in my heart.

The problem with Warner Bros. is that they suck when it comes to 4K. Look at Evil Dead Rise. Absolute barebones. Look at The Exorcist. Absolute barebones. Look at The Nun II. Only 1 extra feature. Even if we do get an Elm Street 4K, I want more than just a barebones disc.

The Nightmares 1 to 7 + FvJ looks 100 billions times better on DVD, the blu-rays are tra*h, so why """restore""" something that already looks MORE than beautiful on DVD ?????. Sorry but... it is what it is, they can do it and I'm sure they will, but the DVDs transfers/prints of Nightmares 1 to 7 + FvJ are 100% unbeatable.
