@Merlin those rocks are jetties. The Corps of Engineers use them to help keep the rivers navigable by sweeping the sand out of the channel. The sand and silt get carried by the current, and since water flows towards the path of least resistance the heavier sand and silt flows around the jetty and settles. I saw this work on the Red River in Louisiana when they were working to make it navigable. It's impressive and it keeps from having to regularly run a dredge boat down the main channel to keep navigation safe.

Merlin did you tell Paul to clean them quagga mussels off that seadoo ?😂 thoroughly enjoyed it fellas.

Actually, a yankum rope makes a lot of sense on the water as a propellor can’t really bite into anything if its rope is pulled tight but blasting out with a yankum and utilizing its kinetic energy to apply pull really makes sense to me. Great adventure you thought up here!

Just a little history about the cool bridge where you started. That bridge was built over dry land and then the river was rerouted under the bridge. Much like the London Bridge reconstruction and rerouting if Colorado river at Lake Havasu.😀

@21:13... that bridge (closest to you) was built in 1941 and that part of the river is actually a Cut-Off/Bypass from the original channel (which lies to the north). The Cut-Off/Bypass was built to speed up shipping out weapons, during WW-II.

Merlin, you did the Lewis and Clark expedition in reverse. It started in Hartford, Illinois. That is where you guys concluded. Also, I appreciate the fact that someone said Grace before the meal.

Great video Merlin!! A trip to remember for sure! My longest ride on a jet ski was at Lake Havasu! LOL!! That was 2005 or 6. Not sure I would have made two days. Sure looks like you're all having a great time.... well, maybe not Hunter... sunburnt legs... ouch! LOL!! You and Jimmy have your work cut out for you keeping those skis running. Merlin has a great view of the River run. The first half of the video is, boats , boys and BBQ . Merlin is 100% positive all the time after all. You can worry a thing to death. Did you see Merlin carries 5 tools. Sometimes that is all you need, if there the rite tools..And tape..

It’s fun seeing you get a kick out of our trees. When I go to AZ or UT, I’m all … that’s a big rock … kick! Ouch.

I live about 10 miles due north from where you all put in. In the 80s we rode motorcycles and four wheeled about 20 miles of that river. On a Saturday and Sunday River Front Park just south would have a hundred trucks parked that hauled dirt bikes all riding in the woods. You all haven't seen mud! We got one out over two days and it took a backhoe. It was a new at the time Chevy Blazer with a built 454 and 44" Gumbo Monster Mudders. Tires were gone and he had to climb out the window. They did mention two of KCs great BBQ places I like a place called BB's Lawnside. The meat doesn't need sauce but if you want it it's not Ketchup based. Vinegar base like Nashville I think. I could go on for days, you guys picked an incredible place in the country!

EXCELLENT CHOICE ! ! ! Feorella's Jack Stacks is the BEST ! ! ! I had it flown in here to MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL for my coworkers and it was a huge hit. Every time I go home to KC I have to take an empty suitcase and fill it with sauce & rub to bring back for everybody. You're gonna love it ! ! ! Eat your way across Missouri !

Be glad that you didn't go down the Mississippi. You would have had to go through the Chain of Rocks canal, and go through the locks at Granite City, Illinois. Also, the Mississippi has a lot of sandbars mid channel right now.
