Here in the states, a company out of Chattanooga, Tenn. called "Choo Choo Custums" modified lots of GM products from Chevy and GMC pickups and van. They did interiors with seats, CB Radios and pop-up Sunroofs. Exteriors were modified with special stripes and company "Call-outs" letting the world know who modified the vehicle.

What fun this video was. Loved that you filmed every step along the way, with detailed explanation of what you're doing to get this beauty running again. The owners face was priceless once it was running. lol Had an 81 Sierra 3/4 454 and hauled an old, heavy 12 1/2 ft truck camper on it. Flew down highway 2 (QE 11) effortlessly , not even feeling the camper on it. It was rusted on the rear sides too. I'm pretty sure they salted the roads back in the day.

Great find, what a classic, love the grill and square headlights and it has a 350 that's a bonus, you can't kill them. This engine sounds like it was cared for. As for the panels, yes go for it, but the frame looks kinda ripe in places, what a shame. Looking forward to seeing it again. Cheers

As long as it isnt a clutch fan just push down on the belt with one hand and turn fan with other. Unless it is seized up it will turn w/fan. Im tellin ya, d9nt waste yer time with the plugs, just start it. Those motors are bullet proof buddy

That was fun watching you get that old gal running and even getting her to run off one of the fuel tanks. So many of these videos the guy gets them running but just barely and most usually off a gas can. You must either live where the highway department salts the roads or the owner towed a boat and the bed got dunked at a salt water boat ramp. It would be fun to see you find a bed to stick on it. I inherited two of my dads trucks and one of them was a 79 ford half ton that I went to the dealership with Dad and ordered. That memory is so special to me. I remember every detail of going through the options list with the salesman and picking out how we wanted the truck to be equipped. Dad wanted as efficient of a truck as possible mileage wise so we went with the six and the overdrive stick shift, high geared rear end and dual tanks. It could go a long ways without stopping for gas. He used that truck to tow a boat for Salmon fishing snd when Dad gave it to me it was so rusty that I eventually gave up trying to save it. I gave it to a buddy of mine who owned a wrecking yard and even though it didn’t look too bad on the outside he said the chassis was the rustiest he’d ever seen. I still have all its paperwork since new. The other truck of his I wound up with is a 2004 F-150. Dad gave it to my Sis back about 2014 but she’s real hard on cars and about two years later it was relegated to the pasture with a broke transmission. She told me she was going to have a scrapper come get it and I realized that this was going to be my last chance to get one of my Dads trucks so my son and I went over to her place and winched it up on the trailer and brought it home. It’s really sad how quickly a vehicle can go to pot when they’re left outside and not run for a few years. He’d quit fishing by the time he had bought this one so it had no rust problems. My Son is a Ford tech and he had the trans out on the bench and rebuilt in just a couple of weekends. As you can imagine I’m pretty proud of him. We stripped the interior and power washed the seats and carpet and let them sit out in the dry summer heat for a couple days to get rid of the mouse smell. Somehow, Sis had managed to bend the driveshaft too so I looked for years to find a good one at the pick-n-pull but no luck and seemingly the only other option was to go to the dealer and buy one new but the price of 800 dollars kept me from ordering one. So Dads truck sat for another year or two. Finally, I found a company on eBay that specializes in manufacturing new driveshafts. They had the hard to find (two piece with an idler bearing) driveshaft I needed for under three hundred with free shipping. I ordered it and it arrived in less than a week and it was perfect for my application. The only problem now is this ttuck has the notoriously bad 5.4 engine with the faulty cam followers. No death rattle yet but hopefully we can treat this truck gently enough now that it’s retired that that day will never come.
