How come you didnt remove the valve cover for timing setup as well? thats the normal way - in addition to what you did. If the distriubtor drive is in the wrong place its a good indicator the engine (or the drive at least!) has been apart in the past
Thanks for your comment. I just wanted to get it running at this stage. I checked the Tdc as I swapped the distributor and plugs and wanted to confirm the plug order. I will certainly check valve clearances before this goes into the camper.
