l picked up this commercial pressure washer at a garage sale in New Jersey while on vacation, it was as is for $75, so lets get into it and see if it can be fixed.
Mustie, that was the funniest thing I've seen for years, when everything was spraying water out. Just be careful on the old girl (carmen ghia) don't want to blow all the bondo off 🤣
And you still have the bucket truck lol. Great video sir. I have, and continue to learn so much from you. I picked up a discarded Stihl trimmer at the dump and was able to repair it per the confidence youve given me. Thank you.
Excellent score Mustie! A $2500.00 machine fixed for under $200.00, and a machine that will come in super handy for future projects and around the house. Definitely a keeper :D
I'VE BEEN WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS FOR A WHILE NOW. AND I HAVE TO SAY THANK YOU, I RUN A SMALL LANDSCAPEING BUSINESS AND YOUR VIDEOS HAVE HELPED ME GET IN THERE AND FIX MY OWN EQUIPMENT. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE KNOWLEDGE, KEEP THEM COMING.
That's what I like about this channel! Mustie 1 shows you the mishaps as well as the good things whereas a lot of people would have edited the leaks out & re-shot it. That's a great bit o kit.
OK< From NJ, Mustie must need a PERMIT to transfer GRAGE SALE ITEMS from NJ to NH, wonder if they got him at the border or he snuck it across? ................Everywhere you turn in this state of NJ they are looking for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.....
Amen, we had one in my neighborhood growing up in the 70's , he repaired all of our cars and installed everybody's car stereos/speakers....he was retired Army and we paid him in beer & he loved bbq ribs. Best friend ever is a shade tree mechanic
Your explanations are super and the graphics are great. Also I like your laughing at things. Keep them coming. I look forward to every one. Can't wait till it warms up enough so I can try fixing up stuff.
I feel like an apprentice learning a new piece of equipment and I Thoroughly enjoy all your videos and how you narrate them and include the viewer by asking them questions as if they were with you. I have learned more in the short time I started watching your videos and has saved me countless hours of frustration. Good on you brother and keep them coming.
Suggestion: when using a file on a lathe, please put a handle on the thing. It's way too easy to inject that tang into the palm of your hand and up your wrist, which can be uncomfortable.
Love your videos man. Your in passion with what make you happy. I did what you do as a kid and there is nothing better than hearing the motor run for the first time. I have grown and work on diesel engines now. But you have sparked my interest to start building small engines for my community. Michigan checking in!!!!!
The part you thought has a stack of washers is called the "unloader" and that sets your running pressure. Since it bogs you might want to loosen it off about 1/4 turn. They came with a hand grip on the unloader when they were new, well most did, that was why, different tip different pressure. FYI
Most pressure washers can trace a lot of problems down to that damn u loader sticking, seizing up. You're right, I just tighten/loosen mine a few turns and it works fone. I always swear by usi g the pressure washer pump lube at the end of the season...it works too
Too funny! The correct male quick connect costs $3 at your local hardware or big box store. Your New England frugality is to be admired, I guess. You’re the best.
Great job getting the pressure washer back to working condition. I enjoy your videos and have picked up some good knowledge with them. Thanks for taking the time to film and sharing some great tips! It is appreciated...
She's an expensive one new. You got a good find there, just needs some new parts that I see you're unpacking as I'm leaving this comment... lol. Always entertaining and educational Mustie (Darren). Thanks again. You are THE man!
Darren, for future reference, that sediment filter is plastic. We replaced ours at work with metal ones, and don't have leaks on them anymore. Your call on using pipe dope instead of teflon is spot on. The tape gets brittle over time and can separate inside of those fittings and get caught in the tip. Also a spinner or turbo tip is a good investment on cleaning. It gets under the dirt (and paint if one is not careful) faster.
I've been battling cancer all winter & watching the videos you put out help curb the debilitating anxiety & panic attacks, the stress of the cancer treatment & I can occupy my mind so I feel better/forget it temporarily. May God Bless you Darrin (sp?).
Having been very closely associated with manufacture and testing of pressure washers, I can offer a bit of "inside" advice. First, on the quick connects...they will absolutely not interchange with pneumatic fittings. All of the larger consumer/light commercial (except electric portable models) pressure washers use the same size quick connects, and the standard threaded end is 3/8" NPT. the end you tried to remove from the hose no doubt was threaded on the hose end, just stubborn. Heat up the plastic collar with a heat gun, and it should slide off, so you can get a wrench on the hose end. The pumps will generally take a good bit of frost, as they're necessarily pretty robust. I noticed a supply of gaskets wired to one of the hoses, maybe that is a hint? The range of supplied tips also have quick connects, which are a different size. You have to skin the collar back to connect as well as disconnect the pressure connectors.
Mustie; please start buying the correct parts to fix these machines. I get trying to fix these machines with used parts you have on hand but to what end? A littler research wil tell you that Air and pressure washing connectors are not interchangeable. Once you jump the gun and pour 2 part fuel in everything; What do you do with the final half repaired product? Sorry but I'm done with these/your videos!
I wish I could have learned these things 50 years ago ! Anyway , I know them now and am thankful you're teaching others . You are special for givin' the damn .
I've been watching you for quite some time, and I can't decide if you've huffed too much paint in your day or you just allow for some comic relief.. Either way you crack me up man. You always have a comeback for what these machines throw at you. Kudos to you for doing what you love, sharing it with the world and receiving so much return on it.
Mi T M still makes great machines. They used to put together models for retail in major paint stores with different engines and price points. Most of them would deliver around 4 gallons per minute. I bought one new in 1985 with an 11 or 13 hp Wisconsin Robin on it. After 20 years I put an electric start engine on it. I still have the machine and it runs well because it was never left in the rain and was never set up where it would get wet !! Rust in the gas tank once from condensation was the only issue ever !
Love your enthusiasm for gettin these forgotten about pieces of equipment goin again. That’s impressive to me you got that workin again. Nice stuff. -Pidge
I like your humor, explanations, and talking to/with your audience. I recently came across your channel and enjoy your videos even though I’m an IT consultant and not particularly mechanically inclined.
Pump oil 30 weight non-detergent only fill the pump a tad over the notch in the dip stick. Pump sounds healthy when you spun it over by hand. 4GPM @ 3000 PSI is a very nice unit nice score! Water in is just a sediment bowl that has a 80 micron screen to clean.
Just discovered your channel. Love it. Really interesting stuff to watch. Really makes you think about how to figure out how stuff works without instructions. Keep it coming
You make me want to go back to auctions again (I wish), I cannot however as I dont have a garage nor the tools, those days went years ago but I love watching you and your quotes
Not the main reason why belt drives are better. They are better because you can run the pumps at a lower RPM so they dont wear as quickly but make the same amount of pressure as a comparable direct drive pump.
I don't know if I should love you or hate you. This video inspired me to repair my pressure washer that has been setting for three years. I am down to the stopped up nozzle! Thanks for the inspiration... I think...
Mustie, I really enjoy watching these repair videos, you definitely have the knack of bringing things back to life. I think it's great. I love watching you in the back to future films too when you built the delorean time machine. 😂
Once Mustie has worked his magic, a tweak here a tweak there etc the thing is working better than factory new ! ....would you buy a used car from this man ?...most definitely !
I love the word wrench! Much better than Spanner.... do you have stillsons in the US or is it pipe wrench... an adjustable spanner is sometimes a shifter.... But as an apprentice we were banned from using shifters always the correct tool for the job.....
Ye. (Spoilers but who cares anymore anyway? This is Mustie1 we're talking about) He not only got it running, but he also got it washing cars. Did 5 in 10 minutes.
.I say Mustie gets the BUCKET TRUCK out of HIBO and he uses it to clean the house, plusother projects.......................New sideline? MUSTIES MOBILE VW WASHING?
I should of been in bed 2 hours ago... cant stop watching these videos and i have never worked on any engine in my life :) Greetings from South Africa!
