I got a lead acid battery charger with repair function to test out and see if it can restore a sulfated lead acid battery. This particular device plugs into the wall to draw its power from. Most others draw power from the battery it is trying to restore.

The ones that draw power from the same battery cannot restore a badly sulfated battery. This one should be able to do better.
I put the charger on the battery and ran the repair mode through until it quit on its own. Then I ran it through on normal charge.
Then I hit it with a battery load tester to see if it could hold a charge. It did but it was weak. I repeated the cycle every single day for a while till my load tester quit on me.
I will keep running this. But you can see from the video that the battery was gaining in power with every cycle.
