Dallas’ problem wasn’t their offense. The crunch time lineup for their front line was THJ, Bullock and Powell. All three were just awful defensively. It was a layup line for the other team. They aren’t gonna win the title but they also aren’t going to be as bad with all the new players. The only player Dallas ever wanted to “get rid of” is Wood. The coaches didn’t like him, not Luka. Let’s watch some Mavs games before we just throw random talking points out.

Luka needs a 2 way wing with him, so Kawhi/PG healthy, JB/JT, etc are the ones who fit, then put 3 and D guys and a rim protecting big...elite 2 way wings are very tough to find tho

Bill kept it off the court cuz he knows full well Kyrie coming off a screen Luka will have that ball on time and on target. Kyrie played with Bron early in his career, Luka will get him plenty of looks. I'm on my 3rd season in NBA 2k24 and Kyrie averages almost 25 on great shooting splits and got himself a big contract. Obviously that's best case scenario, but take the off court stuff away and ON the court they're scary.

As a Mavs fan I would love to disagree with Bill about the organization…but I can’t. He is 100% correct about the disfunction and lack of direction. I’m honestly not THAT excited about this season. We’ll be lucky with a 7th seed. And we’ll get bounced in the first - if we’re lucky enough to get there.

Kyrie has a semblance of peace in Dallas. He already has a title and as long as the local media doesn't try to run him out of town, it's unlikely he'll force himself to the Lakers where he's going to be blamed for everything that happens when things don't go well.

Geezus it's tough watching Joe House strain his back and neck looking down at his notes on his lap. Clearly Gary Sinise was wrong when he said "the house ...always wins." I don't see the big upside to the Mav's lets stop playing out the same narrative that seems to be running ramped which is that Kyrie and Luka are good enough to get them there, where there is I'm not sure yet but let's look at the rest of the team. They lost quality defenders and replaced them with none. I think this is a 45 win team and a team that comes playoff time will be bounced due to their defensive woes.

The key is to get defensive players around Luka but they haven't done that. So I don't think they'll redeem themselves. Kyrie is one of the worst guys they could've gotten. Not because Kyrie sucks or anything, but he's not gonna help on defense.

It's worth noting Dallas had a 119.2 offensive rating with Luka and Kyrie on the floor. Even if Kyrie goes AWOL for 30 games, Dallas still had a 118 off rating with Luka on the floor. The defense should be much better adding back a competent 3-and-D forward in Grant Williams and Christian Wood being elsewhere. I also might be on an island but I think Dante Exum is going to be good. A legit playoff rotation guy. If he is, and you have him, Luka, Kyrie, Grant, Green, and Kleber that's your six and they have some other guys who could be interesting as the 7th, 8th, 9th men. Although they are very reliant on Lively being playable against Denver and LA because they are kind of small. They are probably 2-3 years away from really contending

That roster is one big defensive liability... even if they can get there offense close to it's potential on paper (which I doubt - hard to play when you're taking the ball out of the net every fucking possession) that defense will rank in the bottom five for sure. Luka plays well with those whom are close to his heart. Finney-Smith, Brunson and the guys on the nationalteam ... if he has no love for you, he's not sharing which porzingis learned the hard way... that match would've worked great, if their relationship would've been better... KP was out of there and was immediately healthy... suspicious

The truth is that Mark Cuban is just a bad owner. Since that Dirk improbable run in 2011 the Mavs have been terrible, they didn't attract a single good free agent despite the no income tax advantage and they constant built awful rosters around their stars. The 2022 WCF had more to do with Phoenix collapsing than anything else, in general they are like the a middle of the road team with one super talented guy and nothing that fit around him.
