Hello John, The BMW 700 was a very fast car, with so little horsepower. I had a 1963 700LS (luxury "long tail" model). The car had a broken taillight, and even 25 years ago it was very difficult to get another one. The 40 hp sports coupes were killed a lot in racing. There was even the BMW 700 RS and also convertibles. Thanks for your video! Greetings from an old vintage car mechanic! Klaus from Düsseldorf
Fantastic job guys!! The more air-cooled motors you get running, the more you are motivating me to pick one up! Keep moving forward with that mid build motivation!!
if you use a 1969 type 3 automatic transaxle starter you won't need a nose cone bushing, its self sustained and higher torque than a type 1 starter. just fyi for next time. looks awesome , keep up the good work.
The shot of the SP with the exhaust puffin was so much motivation!! I wish I hadn't just moved to a new state, my 87' Audi coupe shell is begging to be put on the 74' bug pan I have. Just need to find the time. Hopefully I can make it to Helen again this year, probably won't have the Ghia with me but I'll be there!
I don’t understand how you don’t have more subscribers. I found you from Taylor ray’s video where he saw the bmw at a car meet or something like that. Awesome channel, amazing content! Keep it up man!
Type 3 motors ftw indeed!!! Excited to see that screaming deal of a motor, screaming some great exhaust notes! Corey is right, mid build motivation is much needed. After 500+ hours of rust repair and body work, Im blocking out my fastback, touching up any spots that need it, then its paint time! Then motor, interior, glass, chassis work. Motivation needed for sure!
This is Awesome that this type 3 motor runs and will live in the Auto Union in the near future 👍🏻 I am looking forward to seeing this car at a future car gathering driving on the road 🇩🇪
You should have stuck with the 6v starter, as they work with 12v no problem. In fact, the 6v starters were later resold as 12v "high torque" starters. Also, tap the float bowl with a wrench and 99% of the time the float's needle will unstick.
This is by far my favorite project on youtube. So many things covered already and the body isnt even on. I have a Audi 100 c1 project myself, but this is some next level stuff. Keep it up!
Might sound crazy but if you lose the bottom right corner of the rear valance (where it's very rusty) the exhaust will fit in the new hole like you had made the exhaust to fit. Not sure whether you were going to repair that corner but it looks like it's just about hanging on!
That engine sounds nice! Just watched the episode after a meeting in my car, was cool to see your name on my radio while watching lol tagged you on my IG story if you are curious :)
Only first gear is non synchro on a '59 transmission. Not what I'd call a crash box. Also, it's not a good idea to remove the machined lip when cleaning . Mike FN has a good video on how to do this correctly.
