Quick tip for checking clearance. Throw play dough in a bag and set it on the air filter. Shut the hood and it will squish giving you a pretty accurate representation of your clearance
Not sure if you have done this before but Gia disc brakes will fit on a bug front end if you swap the spindles and tie rod ends. Those type 3 calipers will bolt up to the Gia spindles and give you more pad area. We were doing that near 50 years ago so we could use all stock parts and save money.
It’s gonna be a “Nasty Fasty” version 2. Do you remember that car from the StanceWorks HoodRide days? I loved it. Good stuff you’ve got going on here John. Keep it up. I’d love to see more wrenching and work.
Would be cool if you made something that props the hood/trunk open when ignition is on and closes it when it's off. That way you can get airflow when you need it and looks when you don't.
It's gonna be so cool John. Love it 😍 You could have the exhaust come up through the filler cap and have the fuel cap as a rain flap instead of the oil dipstick perhaps 🤷🏻♂️
If those taillight lenses are as rare as you say, please remove them for safekeeping while you're working on the car. You could also do an episode on silicone casting so you can make spares for yourself or to sell.
Look into what the stock Type 3 dipstick looks like. It is what you want. Id get rid of that Webber progressive as well and go with some stock dual solex or dual webbers. Those progressives have a bad rep.
