I just picked the 3 random winners for a B'laster T-shirt / can of Multimax Lube. If you don't see a check mark next to my name and a heart on your comment then its a scammer impersonating me. I keep blocking them and they keep making new accounts. Anyway... 24 hrs to comment back and claim otherwise it moves on to the next randomly selected winner. Good luck! BTW, merch link stopped working... Check out NNKH hats here: teespring.com/nnkh-hat?pid=763&cid=103367

Dry gas or isopropyl alcohol should take that sap off. It works with pine pitch but it does take some elbow grease. Use it along with a plastic razor blade. Gus has got to be one of the cutest puppies I’ve seen.

Hi Timo. I'm wondering which aspects of Chris' journeys stand out as signifying the differences in Freedom between USA and Germany. I'm not from USA although I do live in North America and, though I've never been to Europe, I don't think of Germany as a Country that's strict on personal freedoms. Is it really that different?

Love this series. Your lady is awesome, your puppy is awesome (I'm in complete love with the dog), and the car is pretty sweet too. You're living the life guys, you'll remember this adventure for the rest of your lives. The longest road trip I ever took in my 1975 Torino was 350 miles or so. And that was 25 years ago. You've got big brass ones to nurse that car 2500 miles in the here and now!

Loving the Torino content. My grandfather owned a 74 Grand Torino and my favorite show was Starsky and Hutch. So when me and him would hang out my favorite part was riding in the Torino. My grandfather was a giant of a man, specially for his generation. He would sit with the seat all the way back with his head leaning to either side because of his height and his knees along both sides of the column.
@rickloera9468
@rickloera9468 2 года назад
That must have been a tight fit for your grandfather. I have a 72 Gran Torino and I am only 5 ft 10 inches. With the seat all the way back I am still wanting for more room. His probably had a power seat which gives you a lot more leeway. My 77 Cougar which is basically the same car had a power seat and that really helped a lot. They are beautiful cars.

Thank you so much for the trip down memory lane. I had a 1975 Elite in high school, and she was my pride and joy. I used to try and drag race it while cruising, and eventually blew up the 351 windsor. After that we put in a 351 Cleveland with 4bbl, intake, headers, exhaust, and a comp cams performance cam. She was a dog out of the hole, but after 25 mph she was hard to beat. Remember beating a 350 IROC Z, doing over 100 down main street! LOL... The holie goat reminded me of my friend I was always out to beet in his 72 Buick Skylark. After the motor swap I smoked him. Wish I could send a pic of my car in the day she was a real looker. God I miss that car. Even though I have a 2008 GT Mustang that would eat it for breakfast, I still have dreams of finding it in the back yard under a tarp. Only dreams... Thanks guys. Love the content and am now subscribe.

I owned and drove a red 1974 Ford Gran Torino my last year of high school and first few years of college...I LOVED THAT CAR. When I saw the title of your first half of this revival-drive-rescue, it caught my attention and that is how I discovered your channel. Both videos were VERY interesting, entertaining, fun and cool. Kudos to you, Jen, Gus and the car (shall we call her, Agnes?)...all four of you were a great team, great mix and an integral part of the whole two-part classic American automotive mini-movie you created. Your explanations of what you needed to replace, why and how you fixed all of the issues was great, what a teaching moment for younger people and older people who may not be very knowledgeable about cars and auto mechanics. I loved it, please do more like it featuring early American iron from the 1950's-1976 or so. Thanks for the great content! (Like many Americans, I have watched Derek's 'Vice Grip Garage' videos since the very beginning BECAUSE OF his revival-drive-it-home adventure videos.)

Blew my mind when you stopped by The Valley Tavern in Mohave Valley, AZ. We bought our first house right behind "The Vern" in 1985. Part of it back then was a Bell gas station where I could ride up to the pump on my 1984 Honda 250r atc and mix the 2 stroke oil and gas in the tank and ride up and down those dirt roads and yes people do cruise home on those dirt roads a little buzzed after a night at the Vern. Still living those days with my old Fords, not a bad ride! All typical problems, I run lower temp thermostats cause of the heat in the summer, those cast iron engines retain heat, years back we'd just take them out in summer, road draft is what keeps them cool, we live at high altitudes so I bump up the ignition timing and vapor lock is a thing of the past, my 52 F-3 was assembled at the Chester plant not far from you. Keep em running guy 👍👍👍

I felt as though I was traveling with friends. Especially because I'm a former wrench turner myself, and a high school friend of mine had that same exact car. However his was black in and out. We camped out in it often. Usually near some fishing hole we found. Grabbed a 12 pack and a pack of hotdogs and a dozen donuts and between that and the trout we caught, poor man's surf and turf over a campfire was our breakfast, lunch and dinner, lol. We were good for two or three days. Unless we ran out of beer, but that was just a quick trip down the road to restock, lol. You guys rock, keep it up while your young. Cherish every moment. For the fuel vapor lock problem, I've gone to a wrecking yard back in the day & found an old power steering cooler like the one already on your power steering pump & found a place under the car near the fuel line. Close to the fuel pump is best. Route the fuel thru it to cool the fuel. If you can mount it where air can hit it while being shielded from damage it will stop vapor lock, a common problem back in the day in Texas. Just showing my age here (I still know how to set points...).

We used to typically wrap the fuel lines at the engine area with tin foil to solve vapor lock issues. It worked in the 60s. Great video for a trip with a 48 year old Ford. If you could've resolved the fuel delivery issues at the beginning, then your trip back home would've been almost trouble-free!

From what I understand it mostly starts down where the fuel pump is mounted at the Block and it starts boiling in the fuel pump. So going with it and electric pump seems to be the most popular upgrade

Discovered your content today....watched both parts of this story today. Better than a TV show. Quite entertaining and had to watch to the conclusion. Everyone is telling you your skills as a mechanic are off the charts. I'll tell you that you have the highest confidence level of any mechanic I have ever known. You and Jen make a great team too. Love the drone footage. Mark C, Northampton, PA

Thank you so much. I really enjoyed this voyage across the Big Country. It had the lot, two great people, a great pup, a classic car perfectly in keeping with what was a rolling cinematic documentary of jaw-dropping scenery. What a wonderful road trip! Best wishes from England.

Thank you both for the entertainment. I watched this instead of a movie tonight. This was a way better way to look at America than a normal movie - we got to see so much and meet real people along the way. The car was a bonus. I keep thinking this car was in a 70s TV program but I can't think which one - does anyone else remember?

Wow, when i first started watching this video, I thought you might be very little educated on mechanics stuff. Boy, was i wrong, You are very talented at analyzing mechanical issues and fixing them! I thought wow, that is really risky going across the country with such an old vehicle where anything could go wrong, but you fixed everything without really being stranded! Nice job and video. Gus and Jen were very cute and patient!

Glad you know so much about cars because most people would have quit a long time ago and you just kept taking things in stride and kept right on going. Love to see people keeping these older cars on the road, wish more people would do the same.

The ramp/intersection that you saw in Missouri is called a "Diverging Diamond Interchange". They are usually find them in metro areas where there isn't enough room for a huge cloverleaf, while at the same time allowing traffic from all directions access to the opposing Hwy in all directions. They actually work pretty well. Nice job getting that boat back East!
