You dropped the water level when you made it deeper. During a badtide, so it isn't getting replenished. So the swimming pools are complaining that they aren't deep enough (water surface is too low, not the depth of the water is too low). I suspect that you may be in trouble before the end of the badtide due to the drop in water level. IMO you should never mess with water during droughts and badtides unless it's to fix something urgently.

The building's problem description "This building needs deeper water to function" is misleading there. Should be a bug report so the devs can improve it.

There's nothing wrong with keeping the pumps going, they are separated from the crops by a dam. What you need to do is go upstream and imminently shunt the bad water off the map. Then you can use a series of flood gates to fill that area with clean water that you can keep slowly letting out to refill the crop area.
@wm-nu1yf
@wm-nu1yf 2 месяца назад
I was going to say the same thing. Divert the badwater as close to the source as possible. Then all the rest can be a series of reservoirs to supply freshwater as needed.
@SmokeandSpirit
@SmokeandSpirit 2 месяца назад
Not a bad idea, though he could place a couple dumps in the meantime to keep it topped up in the more immediate future. Then perhaps some pumps once he can afford such things. Just to top that area automatically during droughts. I found pumps work great with wind turbines because you can build more turbines to pump more, and just topping something up can take less than the 700hp they ask for even with the intermittent rates they are giving power.

two of your power wheels at the explosive factory are still disconnected from the grid since the last episode. the contaminated beaver could be from you opening the dam. the beaver might have just been in the river when the initial rush of bad water flush through.

the inefficiency of the colony is stressing me out lol. you have inefficient storage, paths, and hauler/builder huts. i can go into more detail but it feels too much backseating. beavers shouldn't have go to one end of the colony travel all the way to the other side to do deliveries those long haul should be kept to a minimum.
@takumi2023
@takumi2023 2 месяца назад
An idea for the water storage. Now that you have explosive and know how the water kind of works, i would convert the weird pocket of water where your current floodgates are into a reservoir. After the first waterfall, at the corner, facing the water source, build a 1 high dam and a channel to the left with flood gate. the channel should be 2-3 square wide and 2-3 square deep that should be enough to release badwater during badtide. this dam should filter all bad water out (if you remember to open the floodgate during badtide) and keep fresh water in the lower reservoir. to be safe, you can make the channel 3 sq deep 4 sq wide to release all the water. the current floodgate you have can be kept almost closed until drought conditions worsen and you can release water as needed. in the future, you can also dynamite the reservoir down to store more water.

@GamerBadger82

For your underwater farms, you might want to add a water dump to use during droughts and bad tides, as single-depth water evaporates the fastest and you don't have a safe water store upstream to let out (during bad tides). for the trees, check which are marked for cutting and that there are paths not too far away. For the chestnuts you’ll need a gatherer and for the trees to not get cut down. For the lidos, the depth warning is misleading, it’s about how close the surface of the water is from the top. Think of the bottom of the ladder as the bottom of the swimming pool. As always, loving the series and can’t wait for you to discover robobeavers 🤖😀

So the bad water river at the top, there is a spot past your industrial hub where the river splits in two. if you put levees at the spilt, it directs the constant flow of bad water towards the exit. So you won't have that constant backflow of bad water towards the small levees. And if you dynamite out a channel for the bad tides to follow towards that exit, you could use the recovered land for stuff and activities. Love the series, got me back playing Timberborn! ❤❤

placing small storage of food and water near the houses will save more time for the beaver and will always be full and not complaining all the time lol. Also the pool thing needs just to be 1 tile deep to function, like the water crops, you place it in you reservoir and is super deep, maybe move them to places with not so deep water like the pond where you initially planted the water crops, nice colony

Tip to protect your crops! You can’t lower the entire area to 2 tiles deep because of the aquatic crops, but you can dig a trench along both shorelines. This trench will hold water even if the pumps drain the river down, and this extra water will keep the land fertile.

Quick tip: near your crops explode 9 tiles (square 3x3) place a water dump, it'll keep your crops watered all cycle round. U wouldn't have to worry about storing water nor bad tide if they are far away from the river. But keep in mind to store more water.

Heya Biffa, happy to see that you're fit again (I hope)! Some quick Tipps: 1. Invest in large storage buildings. 1 large building for each item is more than enough for normal difficulty 2. Your pools need a _minimum_ water height to function. Putting them next to your pumps is the worst place to be. Put them anywhere where there's a constant 1 level water depth. Cheers from Germany! :)

Biffa, increasing the reservoir won't actually increase the amount of water you can pump without affecting your underwater crops or irrigated land. Water levels drop from the top. Blowing up that island will increase your water reserves in case of a really severe drought, but you'll still drain the river at the same rate

The total power stored by the gravity battery tower is 248,000hph. Also, the lido's aren't complaining about how deep the water is beneath them, it needs the water level to be higher. When you exploded the floor the water level went down but will eventually go up.

1. You are putting the water storage at the end of the river. That means the whole river before that point could easily dry out while you still have a ton of water sitting at the end. It would make WAY more sense to have the storage at the start of the river. That way, you could let out a bit of water if/when the water level of the river goes down too far. 2. You have no water retention higher up in the river. That means, when the water flow is diverted, the remainding water level is just going down slowly over time because nothing is holding it back. If you look at the water level at the very end of this episode, you will see that it is allready dangerously low, meaning it is in danger of drying out (again)..

Your lidos only reach one tile deep. Once the water level drops below one tile, the lidos are “empty” of water. Also, since you always have extra water stored, you should have enough water dumps in the spadderdock field to keep them hydrated.

26:01 if you want to protect crops you should dynamite deep holes in the river near them. It might also be worth putting mangrove trees in the water dump holes that you have if you have access to those. Don’t forget to build a load of science building at low priority for excess population if you have enough gaskets and builders.

Great series! I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't pay close enough attention to the tides. I would suggest building a channel with levees to move the bad water straight off the map instead of letting it disperse into the open area. That would leave that whole area available to develop in the future (it makes a great reservoir if you cap the end) and you wouldn't have to worry about needing that third set of flood gates.

I agree, they should consider rubble as mini storages and build directly from them, the beavers dont treat them like accessible or stored resources. So haulers have to move them to a storage before they are considered resources to be used by beavers. Perhaps in the future the devs will switch that up. Ive softlocked a settlement before because all my resources were in rubble form, i had no storages yet, and I ran out of accessible trees lol. It was a painful experience. 😅

I wouldn't worry too much about letting the river dry out by accident, it's easily done 😅 and I did exactly the same with the aquatic farmhouse first time too 😂 One thing I do is have pumps or the water dump so I can pump water back upstream if I ever need to. Also might be worth dynamiting out a deeper badtide overflow so you don't store as much badwater in the dam and have to wait to open the triple floodgates. Also in theory the extra wide triple floodgates could in theory be raised up a bit to store the water for irrigating in droughts. They're wide enough to keep the flow rate up.

One suggestion for keeping fresh water during a drought and keeping crops alive - use the water behind your 4 high floodgates as a reservoir to release fresh water during a drought when crops start to die out. Just lower the gates to re-flood the dried out parts when it happens. All youll have to do is build another dam / spill off gate for bad water further up the stream! Happy building

You should definitely put another gates close to the water source and explode a path for the badwater to divert early on, so you can store lots of water in your already built dam. I think when the pool says water is not deep enough it meant that the water does not reach the ladder, you know like a water pumping station when the pipe is not reaching the water

I assume that, because this episode has gone up, you’re feeling better. I’m happy to hear that, and looking forward to your future shenanigans. 😉

you can use water dumps to fill your river in a drought, 3 wide are the most efficient for cause of evaporation and irrigation rage, note you can make 3x3 wide squares or something larger if you are going to put plaint in the water, you can also put a lido or 2 in your water dump lake farm

30:25 those buildings need water of sufficient height, the water level needs to be higher

30:28 the water is not high enough in the lido for the beavers to swim within the confines of the roped areas that is what the complaint is about, not the depth of water under it.

I've watched a couple people who were either really good at the game or were streaming and had chat. And I gotta say, that gets old quick. It's nice to see some mistakes here and there. Things most of us did when we learned the game. But man, Biffa, you do make some strange choices lol

capping off the bad water allows you to control the flow of it. you can make the badwater flow even during droughts. very useful for generating power!

The Lido buildings are only looking at the top block of water, you'll just need to wait for it to reach a higher water level. Making your reservoir deeper didn't help.

Re beavers working at night - I think you changed the settings a few eps ago to work 24/7, I think due to the “end of the world” episode😅

You released a flood of at least 60 cubes of bad water when you lowered the floodgate.

I’d move the damn back then send the bad tide down a canal and draw power off it. Give you more storage if you can cut off the bad tide before the damn you have now

Placing multiple welfare utility items reminds me of Song of Syx where the idea of building one toilet per 100 people is understandably discouraged
