Hi Max, you have your work cut out but it is a lot of work. Make life easy for yourself and lift the body of the chassis,it's easy to do. This will give you easy access to the chassis from above and make a proper job. for MOT purposes I don't think you can weld the chassis and body together. Please lift the body off you will get on so much quicker honestly. Look forward to the progress on this van.

Lift box and pull chassis out from under box that way you can treat it properly and weld and paint that way it will look amazing and last many more years seem like a lot of work but be well worth it in the end

Blimy Max, that's a project and a half. Like someone else said, it would be a whole lot easier if you can get the body off, so you can get to and see everything that needs removing and replacing. Also you don't know what's going on, on the inside of box sections and that will be a problem in the future. I'm a welder but don't do anything on vehicles anymore as they are just a nightmare and the rust just never ends! Good luck mate and I will follow your tortuous journey with interest. hi bud - still watching but just at the part re the chassis - get yourself an air needle gun and a compressor and just clean all the rust away - it'll show you exactly how big the weld job will need to be and how much its going to cost

Try “cleaning fleece” on your grinder.
