After being abandoned for over a decade, I attempt to get this 1986 Honda FourTrax back running by throwing eBay parts at it until….it runs… or doesn’t…? #Honda #FourTrax #abandoned
We have had one of these since 1988 that still runs strong. Have had to take care of minor things, but have not had to rebuild the engine or transmission yet. It mainly performs taxi service back and forth to deer stand these days. Thanks for showing yours.
@@RealSteelFabrications We hunt second week of Nov during gun season. Put a guy on it during work weekend who had only ever driven 4 wheel drive on bigger machines. At the end of 3 hours riding our leases, he was shocked to learn it wasn’t 4 wheel drive. Obviously he doesn’t know 4 wheelers very well, but it proves how capable these are. I’ve stuck ours just a few times over the last 30+ years and the great turning radius makes it a joy to drive.
I just got 1984 Honda TRX 200. The person I got it from said the engine is seized but I’m hoping I can get it going! I also got a old 1980 Honda ATC 185 that was down for awhile but didn’t need much maintenance to get going again. Just gotta love them ol’ Honda motors!! 👍🏽
You've earned subscription from southern illinois! I'd say these things run so good because they share the same motor platform as all the other batshit crazy Honda stuff at time, currently messing with my seized up brakes and the back foot break cable linkage decided to let go
My grandparents, so many of their neighbors, and various campgrounds up and down gold country in the Sierra Nevada (big shout out to Bear River Lake Resort, go there if you’ve never visited and want some awesome family camping) used these Fourtrax 250s. It’s a 5 speed transmission with an automatic clutch (left brake handle is a redundant for the rear drum brakes if your right foot gets tired), and amazing for fording creeks up to 3 feet deep. Their lower center of gravity compared to taller ranch ATVs with taller, narrower tires also makes them perfect for winding single-track and ugly birms you’d get high centered on otherwise. The only downside I’ve ever experienced is the rear drum brakes. If you aren’t meticulous about maintenance, the rear brakes fade fast.
