I've been trying hard to use my ipad pro 12.9/2019 as something more than just a big heavy tablet after I'd finished with it for an art project (Procreate is great). The mouse support is much better now, but the files app still needs a lot of work. As does usb drive support. I can't even pick my own app to play a movie off a thumb drive.

Galaxy Tab S6 is closer to a PC as far as I'm concerned. Proper filesystem support with external drives, keyboard/mouse support since Android 3?, Dex mode interface is familiar to Windows users. The only thing I miss really is the windows keyboard shortcuts for pinning windows to the left or right. Resizing with the mouse is dumb. It's cool that iPad OS is putting effort into desktop-like experiences because then Google might just wake up and do it too.

I'm sorry if there are people who actually use A.R., but for what I would guess to be at least 90% of users, A.R. is a useless gimmick. The most useful thing that you can do with it is put a product that you're looking to buy on Amazon into the room to see how it looks.

Not tryin to be a hater, but this review is.... gahh. I don't wanna sound harsh, so here's my attempt at honesty while remaining positive: Alex is in his element reviewing laptops. Anthony is in his element talking about genius programming sh** and whatever linux is. There is a specific audience for tablets (albeit a middle aged, quirky one) and if I were a member, I could tell you that this doesn't help me much in terms of learning the device, how it fits in the day-to-day realm of usefulness or even striking my interest. MKBHD's iPad Pro review is a good example of this device done right - and you guys put out fantastic reviews mostly. I just don't feel like you care about the product very much here. Although I wouldn't be surprised if that was the intention anyway.

Want to know why Apple is trying to add full mouse support? Its because of services like google stadia and nvidia geforce now! game streaming services are what even apple are trying to push.

Please don't ask stupid questions in video title. A device WITHOUT file manager, no software outside of App store (unless you Jailbreak), no SD card slot can't replace a pc. Also don't forget, that Apple intentionally cripple performance after about 2 years by underclocking CPU (without informing or giving choice to the user), because "battery can't handle power spikes" yet all of the rest tablet and phone manufacturers do not do that. Good luck replacing a battery without completely fucking up the device. Apple was sued over that and they paid a big amount of money, but they are continue doing that, because Planned Obsolesence is more profitable than just releasing a lasting product and not paying fines.

I got an uber case (lots of support, it's basically a hard-covered book and hard plastic around the iPad) for my iPad Pro and its kept it fine, but if I go with a new one down the road the fancy keyboard is tempting.

I just bought the 16” MacBook Pro. I have a 2017 iPad Pro 12.9, and I’m pretty sure I can skip this gen, but I’m happy they’re updating it! Also, to make a point, Apple has released their iPads Pro in tandem with similarly prices MacBooks Air for two generations now. I think it’s totally reasonable to compare them, since the same person probably wouldn’t buy both. A person would either buy all Pro or all Air in my mind.

Honestly I stand to believe that most people (the average person) would do perfectly fine using an iPad, or to a lesser degree a Chromebook, as their main computer. Almost everybody I know uses their laptops as Amazon shopping machines or stream boxes. Even just browsing the web and being on social media is basically the same as in a desktop environment.

I was experimenting with Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad support on my Gen 6 iPad and they both work about as they would on a Mac. On a trackpad you can use the swipe commands and they all work perfectly. Cursor movement is very smooth and precise as well. I was impressed enough to order the 12.9” iPad Pro.

Android has supported mice and cursors for years. Also long press was the equivalent to right click since you can't right click on a touch screen.

I don't think the iPad Pro can replace my Razer Blade 15, but it works really well for the majority of people who needs computers. It still stutters if I have an Excel spreadsheet with thousands of pages open (there's also a delay built into iOS that doesn't let you go as fast on spreadsheets to prevent accidental touches that needs to be disabled with mouse support) or for CAD, but most casual people won't run into this issue. On my iPad pro I don't have anything on my home screen and have all my apps in my dock or organized into folders in my dock. I found that it's much easier to multitask and it's much quicker than swiping to the home screen and finding the app. Instead you just bring up the dock and can choose any app you want. Makes doing everything much quicker.

My old Asus Transformer Prime Android tablet from 9-10 years ago had mouse support and trackpad support (it came with a detachable keyboard with an additional battery built in). Microsoft Surface Pro tablets have Pens, mouse support, detachable keyboards. Apple is a bit late to the party here

I’ve used both a mouse and the Magic Trackpad and the trackpad is a much better option. It feels natural and runs amazingly smooth. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, non-Apple trackpads have some connection issues and even Apples original trackpad isn’t as good. But if you have a Magic Trackpad 2 lying around, it’s a really good option.

Really like a big screen for movies... And sometimes I work with: Microsoft Excel/Word and Safari open, is that doable whit an iPad? Ore put it on a tv ore monitor for a bigger screen. I can buy the: Ipad pro-1229 whit keyboard 350 dollars and apple pencil 125 will cost = 1714 whit discount 1640 euro. And I can the mac pro 16 inches whit discount for 2100 euro. What is your advice? Go for a MacBook pro 16 ore Ipad pro ???? Ore wait for mac 14 inch?
