Hi Guys, best wishes to you both on your new boat. On the matter of your head, you should disconnect the hose and inspect it. It might need replacing. Calcium and sea growth can severely restrict the flow. From experience, it’s not difficult or expensive to do, but can save you a lot of headaches later on.

After 3 months with no bilge pump on, and all you had was that little bit of water, that’s a blessing. Our boat, ironically enough, docked at the old Allied factory that y’all visited in Catskill, is dry as a bone, but we don’t have a lot of systems and through-hulls.

I would suggest you get a TDS meter which doesn’t need to cost much. First, it would be good to test your water from the water maker. Second, you can tell some about water in your bilge without involving your tongue. Actually, if you don’t have two reply. I will get you setup with one for the bilge and one for your drinking water (assuming you can communicate a shipping address). I know many a sailor tests bilge water as Parker did. But… well the meters aren’t expensive and might prevent me from thinking about the taste test. :)

Good luck with this endeavor and enjoy the boat as it seem to have a lot of luxuries and systems which will need constant attention, but that is par for the course. Keep yourselves also very well informed of the latest in the "climate" situation as the pushed narrative needs some clear thinking counterpoints.

I've often thought that airlines should charge for the combined weight of the luggage AND passenger. Using that system, you two would have been below average and so your carbon guilt reduced. I haven't come across your channel before but the boat looks like the boat I'd like to have.

DON'T taste the bilge water... no knowing what's in it. Pump out and see what comes in.. and test for salt (conductivity).
