That part broke me! This is my absolute favorite song and not many Elphabas can pull off such raw emotion and she took it over the top! I really felt her pain!
It’s actually her head voice belting uses mixed voice but puts power behind it. As it resonates in the pharynx, have air power keeps it consistent with chest voice
She can sing like it's a rock concert but she doesn't perform like it's a rock concert, she actually ACTS! She's acting through the entire song and that's why she is AMAZING
It kinda reminds me of Audrey Hepburn. She had at least four distinct accents in her vocals- Dutch, German, French and English. It's simply beautiful how Willeminj carries her own sound to it.
I love her intonations. She holds the note at the end of each line and clips some of the words mid sentence. It actually sounds more like natural speech!
Have totally fallen in love with this Musical. Have seen and heard lots of Elphebas on line but Willemijn wins hands down. Thank you for giving us this precious gift, an amazing woman and talent. Must have watched this clip a million times in a short time and my favourite song in the whole show. There are moments in life that stay with you forever, discovering Willemijn and this great Musical is one of them! Thank you, thank you, thank you xxx
I have a question about this song, and the spell she is casting. Fiyero is turned to a scarecrow because of her spell, but she didn't finished the spell. Do you think that if she had finished it Fiyero will be a simple scarecrow, not living at all ? Edit : I asked Catherine Charlebois who played Nessa for a few years in both Broadway and National Tour, and she said that Elphaba did finished the spell but she just continues to repeat it again and again !
I love that opening NO after the Fiyero cry!!! So emotional and intense. The frustration. Eden actually created that when she took over fulltime on Broadway!! So amazing that every little detail, adlib bit an Elphaba creates is passed on to future Green Girls!!!
I will NEVER forgive myself that between 2007 and 2010 Willemijn was performing as Elphaba a mere hour away from where I live and I FCKING DIDN‘T go to see the show... And now I’ll never see her live again. It literally hurts physically 😭
Okay lemme just say her acting is ON POINT!! She nails this character in all aspects and has so much to offer!!! her voice is one of the best in this role and she is able to do it all healthily and make her voice last!! She also did it ok not one, not two, but three languages!! ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING!!!
Willemijn's "No Good Deed" is to this day my favourite one. I vividly remember the first time I heard her sing it live - back in the day when she was in the German production. Just thinking of it gives me goosebumps. There is such an energy she manages to put into this, I can't even find the words to describe it. I was lucky enough to see her in this role more times than I can count, and I really miss her.
You two are so lucky! I'm working my way to becoming ANYTHING like her! If I can sing half as good by the peak of my career, I'll have done well. My dream is to be Elphie - because of Willemijn!!
I love Willemijn but I've heard her singing this song perfectly in 3 different languages and I don't get why this one sounds so off. Too much acting? Too much variations I'm not used to? I don't know
Which one’s better? Idina - like Willemijn - comment Place your vote and let’s see who wins! (You can always do both) P.S. if you comment Idina it will be counted as Willemijn (sorry!)
Your entitled to your own opinion! I have nothing against that, but I have to say I can too and definitely disagreeing on that point. Why? This was the one video that made me understand the lyrics of No Good Deed for the first time, the American accents are too slang’ish sometimes and it’s almost impossible to understand. I’m not sure if it’s the way I learnt the English language, but it for sure differs for many of us and that’s alright. 😊
