I discovered your channel recently and now, each time I’m looking for a review, I either try to find your videos or gladiator tennis’s. You do an amazing job describing the racquets with precise terms in a such manner that makes the video extremely useful and enjoyable to watch.

Super glad to see you back with the videos! One of the most detailed reviewers online… Something you said though hit home. I think once you get to a certain level, you can make almost any racquet work. I very much agree with that! Almost every stick I hit with I feel I can make work. Either with my game or with some customization. Great review!

Thanks! Yeah either i'm just picking all the good racquets at the moment or it doesn't matter so much anymore lol - but i would hope it would be the first scenario, given the mass amounts of money i'm using to do this haha

As usual, awesome work. Really nice to see that Wilson dialed out some of the “wackiness” for this gen without sacrificing much of the Clash’a identity. IMO the most influential stick of the past 10 years!

Thanks mateee, agreed it did wonders for the industry, actually quite enjoyable once i got passed the notion that it was just going to be completely the same, came into it with that expectation and was pleasantly surprised with the very minor differences that all combined into something favourable to me

Dude! Incredible depth of your review. Appreciate that you have sped up your audio track. First impression was this will be hard to absorb given the speed but you really have a lot of thoughtful insights. Instead of standing in a studio and just guessing about the racquet performance, you clearly have spent time on the court to understand the pros and cons of this stick. Have a V1 100 that I immediately add weight to but it is now my go to weapon. Just trying to decide whether to get a V2 100 or just find another V1 100 to have as a backup and provide a platform for some experimentation with weight and strings.

Only if you want a slightly less pillowy feel , a bit more crisp, but super sensitive people might say that its stiffer in a way they dont like, thats the biggest and noticeable change, the rest may actually just come down to the specs

Excellent review and really enjoyed the 'Who's the racket for?' section. I think that was really well put as there seems to be a trend of people thinking that unless the racket weighs 330g, has a swing wieght of 330+g and is no bigger than 97inches then the racket is for a beginner/baby. Almost as if there is this 'machoness' and a need to make tennis even harder for yourself. I played with various versions of the six-one 95 tour for 15+ years and switched to the clash pro due to shoulder problems (unrelated to tennis) and I'm not getting any younger. I can still play well with the six-one 95 but play better with the clash given the easy access to power and spin. Plus it really is better for my arm. I jumped into the v2 of the clash pro and I feel like it is an improvement on the v1.
@ACTennis

Very much appreciate the feedback, and thanks for making it that far into such a long video haha - totally agree with you, this racquet line has probably saved a many number of people from having to quit tennis - i used the six-one 95 myself when i was 15-18, i had to basically quit tennis at that time due to a ongoing wrist problem that was stemming from the equipment and at that time i had no clue, just thought i had a bad wrist in general

Good review! In my testing, it's not the swing style but the contact point on the stringbed that determines the sensation of stiffness. If you hit 9/3 and above on the stringbed, if def feels a lot more flexy. Any lower contact point on the string bed provides that low/mid 60's RA sensation you describe. Also, as you noticed even the slight weight added of a heavy dampener (like ADV), effs up the response of the original Clashes, so I always just used a rubber band.

Since it starts to HL in stock the extra lead up top even with 8g , didnt counter balance at all, and i thought i backhand was really fast especially with a beam like this , might be a different story if you have much higher specs as your personal preference though

Great review, never tried this one, I liked the 98 version I had demo of last year. Currently trying to get hold of the new Speed MP, hopefully to replace my overly muted Pure Strike 98 Gen 3, plus would like a tad more power 😜 Note tried new Ezone 100, way too much power they went overboard.
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
Thanks mate, i still use Strike 98 G3 as an alternate racquet for tournaments, really all round racquet just too muted haha - interested to try new Speed from updated feel, but not sure if i can justify the new price tag considering i had the previous white one which might be all the similar
@user38479
@user38479 2 года назад
I bought the Speed MP recently and it is true what everyone says, it does everything well and it has great maneuverability. I'm not sure about the swingweight though, it felt a tad light and unstable against the big hitter at our club. I can probably fix this if I measure the swingweight at the shop and maybe some lead tape.

Great detailed review, thanks for putting so much time & effort into it... I was using the Clash V1 100 (was looking for arm-friendliness) but couldn't quite control it to my liking, so I switched first to Blade V7 100, and then to Blade V8 98 (16x19). Better control for sure, but seems to lack a touch of power and something else I can't quite put my finger on. I'm thinking about switching back to the new V2 Clash, either 98 or the 100. I'm in my late 50s, a solid NRTP 4.0 / 4.5 baseliner, moderate spin, moderate to fast strokes - would you go with the 98 or the 100? If the 100, sounds like you'd recommend adding weight to the 100 (after hitting stock and seeing if I needed it) instead of getting the 100 Pro (do I have that right)? Happy to hear Australia is opening back up again!!!
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
Thanks for watching, cant ask for anything better 😁 the 100 needed weight because i bought mine quite underspecd due to quality control for what it was supposed to be, you only need a little more to it to make it optimal - Clash 100 Pro is the option if you really want that big time power, but seeing as you already switched to the Blade, the 100 might be a little too powerful to transition back to, i think the easiest route for you would be to go with the new 98 in that case, but just be mindful of the beam thickness differences, Clash in all models is just much thicker, means it will be slower to get around especially compared to a Blade which is one of its biggest strengths
@markchapwick9366
@markchapwick9366 2 года назад
@@ACTennis Thanks! I used the Clash before, and didn't have any issue with the beam width so am not too worried about that. Sounds like for me, you are recommending the V2 98” over the V2 100” because, a) power-wise, the 98” is closer to my Blade v8 98” than the V2 100, and b) the 98” should, at least theoretically, offer slightly more control as the smaller head size is combined with the 16x20 string pattern (lower launch angle which I need, and less "oh on, where is it going") vs. the 16x19 of the 100” version. Does that sum that up about right? A couple apples-to-apples questions: power-wise, would you expect I’d notice a noticeable uptick in access to power moving from the Blade 98 to the Clash V2 98? Same question for spin (I really want more spin, as I’ve moved to a SW forehand grip, and love the results). Which racquet has better / more spin potential? Also on spin potential: would either of the V2 Clashes have more spin potential than the other - or would this be negligible in your estimation (and more a factor of technique and/or string set-up)? Btw, some of my hesitation between the 98" and the 100" (and I bet others feel the same), is that it seems like the 100" is for beginner through advanced intermediate, and the 98" is for advanced intermediate and up. I put myself squarely in the advanced intermediate (solid to high 4.0 USTA rating, can hang with the 4.5 guys who hit hard) - so it seems like there are arguments both ways. Is there a "deciding" factor or characteristic you would use to make the decision between the two? Finally, why would someone want the 100 Pro? Stiffer & the 16 x 20 string pattern - but what do you "get" from it? More or less power, more or less spin, etc.? Arm friendliness (at least for me) is very important, so stiffer RA is normally a red flag to me. Is the 100 Pro even further away than the 98" V2 or 100 V2 than the Blade v8 98"? Thanks again… I showed your video to several people, super well received and appreciated. I’m sure others appreciate as well the responses you give to questions - we all learn from the Q/A part of this as well! Aussie-Aussie-Aussie-Oi-Oi-Oi!
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
@@markchapwick9366 Thanks for sharing, really helps out 1) Spot on for my recommendation 2) Depending on how much if any you have customized your Blade V8, if you can maintain the same swing speed and style, i would say there should be a definite noticable power increase since the Blade moved to even more control orientated this iteration and lower swingweights than V7 Likewise with spin, Clash beam profile is just on the thicker end of most racquets, and Blade has the ability to generate spin, but it's purely for margin sake, Clash should be able to really make it jump in comparison, but launch angle should presumably quite higher 3) 100 should theoretically have more spin, because of the increased in power, it will help with penetration of the spin, plus bigger headsize and beamwidth should all help with energy output, usually seems like the case with most racquets, unless polar opposites of stiffness rating, but they are similar composition builds so comparatively should be higher on the 100 4) Someone might want the 100 Pro because they dont know anything about customizing or dont want to, and say for a Pure Drive like alternate in a similar weight class, then for them that stiffness will be a totally new world for them, but for you who is already conscious of arm issues, then maybe less reasons to use it unless you really do want that free power 5) Clashes will all be similar characteristics to some degree with slight noticeable changes, Blade is just a totally different sort of racquet, it's basically Power and Spin for Clash vs. Feel and Control for Blade Just remember, you did come from the previous Clash, so it's going to be more similar to that, with some enhancements in feel and power - so you already know what you liked and disliked about it, now you go to the opposite end to the Blade V8, and now you want something in the middle, so that would have to be the Clash 98 really

Excellent video. I have been playing with pure drive 100 for about 3 years and play in a men’s league double 4.0-4.5 league. I have a wrist injury I believe is attributed to the pure drive and have a clash 100 on the way from tennis Warehouse to demo. Did I understand you correctly that if I decide to purchase two of these rackets I should consider adding lead tape at 12 o’clock position? If so how many inches? Thanks.
@ACTennis

It depends if you find it not stable enough, start with 2g at 12 total, then just work your way up or down from there by 1g increments, not sure about the actual inch measurements, just whatever the guide tells you is 1g

Thanks for a very good review. I play with the Clash 100 v1 and am thinking about updating to the v2. Which of the string set ups you used did you prefer for this racquet? I am now playing with LXN Smart at 44 lbs but am thinking of testing Solinco Hyper G Soft that I see you used on the test racquet. How did you like that set up on the v2? I have played it on my Babolat Pure Drive at 48 lbs and I like it a lot for that racquet.
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
It's a nice string , but it's downfall is the tension loss happens very very quickly and with a fairly powerful racquet, it will end up launching the ball not long after a fresh string, even without playing with it for a while Might want to go with something more durable in playtime since the Clash does make strings move more than most racquets - maybe Luxilon Element or 4G Soft, Volkl Cyclone or Polytour Rev

Outstanding review as always! Racquet has good feel and is a more than decent stick, but that fat 24.5mm beam is a no go for me. Anything more than 22mm just doesn’t look right and it’s a pass. Also, I have a OHBH. The bulky throat in my left hand really puts me off. YMMV!

Hi. What's your forehand grip? I play a western forehand and am worried this launch angle might be too high, especially for doubles which is already an issue at times with my western.

Semi western, launch is pretty high, im also using sharp strings so will enhance it more - if you have the ability to flatten in a western it should be alright but if youre primarily a spin player then yeah balls might get picked by net player

I play only on weekends, 31 years, average athleticism, thanks and cheers from Chile!
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
Thanks - You may not need to use poly if you havent played for too long, it's used more to create spin and control when your technique is developed, otherwise it can cause more harm than benefit But if you really want, maybe you can try something like a half / half (hybrid) Solinco hyper g in the main string at around 52lbs and yonex rexis cross string 52lbs to introduce you to poly

How will this Clash Pro 100 V2 perform with synthetic gut strings like Gamma TNT2? Do you need stiffer poly strings to balance its soft frame for proper control? I am not a fan of Poly. Thanks for your review.

Will be fine if you string tighter, but these racquets are kind of known for eating through strings, especially if you're going to hit a bunch of top spin, if you play flat, then wont be as much of a problem

Hi really good job, can you tell me the difference between clash v2 and boom mp? I would like an easy frame with good feeling especially on the one-handed backhand. Before, I was using the V1 version with a light custom, but still it lost power in the more decisive shots. How does V2 behave?
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
Lost power or lost control? I haven't actually used the boom mp yet, might be getting a demo soon - can't really get much easier of a frame than Clash with good feeling, the difference with V2 is that the feel is different by just a bit, a little bit more stiffer, but just enough to make more enjoyable (in my opinion) if you like V1 feel, then stick with V1 If V1 is too light, just need to add bits and pieces of weight to make it more stable, then it will play better - The Clash is not going to be the most controlled racquet , but usually the more control you get is the more difficult it will play

Thanks for an incredible racket review. Very detailed. So I play with babolat pure drive, I am a 4.5 player in team tennis, been in the league for 25 years. Pure drive is a power racket, I notice by third set my right wrist is very sore. I just received v2 100 and v2 100 pro to demo from TW. I am a top spinner on both sides with two handed backhand and typically hit kick serves and come in. Which racket should choose? I’ve used polys before and had severe arm issues that took about a year to go away. Now I only use technifibre x-one biphase or gamma professional spin, both top grade multifilaments. Are soft polys really arm friendly? I string my own rackets on pure drive at 43 pounds. 100 or 100 pro? Also best mutifiliament ? Thank you!!! Love your channel
@ACTennis
@ACTennis Год назад
The Pure Drive, and Clash are going to be typically string eaters, but the Clash does definitely seem to get tear into each other Soft polys are pretty good these days, a true soft poly you could mix in as a hybrid with multi if you want to try it out - RPM Soft, Head Lynx Touch, T1 Ghostwire, ISO Speed Cream, Luxilon ALU Power Vibe, they all do the same thing, work as great hybrids, and potentially full bed of poly for people who can't use typical poly in Short, the Pro will be alot more stable, better if you want the stability to do the work for you, and the weight and thickness of the racquet to plow through the ball for power on a more efficient swing 100 is more for a faster swing style, more whippiness, more spin and higher laucnh angle, power comes from a bigger swing, full style stroke, less stability in stock form But the V2 100 is light to begin with, so you might need some additional weight to bump it up, but still keep it lower than the V2 100 Pro if you didn't like the static weight of the Pro to begin with I dont use alot of multis actually, but the ones you already use are the top of the class ones, maybe Tecnifibre triax is a good shot, but its expensive IMO

@ACTennis 2 года назад
Hello , glad to hear you're picking it up again - if you want the easiest transition to a new racquet, it would probably be this one in the video at 295g, the next one up is 310g, and if you are worried about the future if you out grow this racquet because of the light weight, you can just buy some lead tape to add additional weight and it will save you way more money and be more cost efficient than changing racquet The Clash 100 V2 will give you comparable power and spin but be alot better for your wrist and arm because it has much less vibrations, it might feel a little funny at first compared to your Pure Aero, but once you get used to it, you'll play well Blade v8 will be a totally different racquet, very low powered and controlled compared to what you are using now, need alot more development in your technique and skills if you are only just returning to tennis after a long break

Wilson is not known for their quality control, this isn't a switch for me so i didn't buy 2, this one was already off spec by a bit, i normally would not buy it without having the specs pre measured together, like a matching service or something, otherwise it could be a good waste of money and luck of the draw - i bought this one off their website because it was released earlier than official stores, otherwise id normally wait till it was available at Tennis Only (TW equivalent)

Now that I moved to the clash 100 v2, I don't understand if it has not been stringed well or if it's another problem because I feel like a rebound when I hit the ball and I have to be very careful to not shot the ball outside the court even if I don't put so much effort in it. The racket has been stringed by the person that sold me that racket and I think that strings tension is quite low. Can you advice me the tension and strings to use to gain more control? Thanks a lot in advance
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
If it's been strung for a while, or has just been sitting in the sun maybe the tension is gone, i'd say 48lbs if you play a nice top spin game, or if you want even more control and less launch from the racquet, maybe 52-54 will also be fine, if you have no arm issues

I played clash 100 v2 for 20mins last week, strung with RPM team in the main and a nylon string in the cross at 53 lbs. I felt the stick was super muted, could not feel the ball properly at all, even more muted than version 1. Was it because of the strings?
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
Still can be considered a muted racquet, but the feel is different, response has changed - if it's your normal setup then probably just your personal feel and preference - maybe a much more edgy or sharp string can work a bit better

@@diyangwei2529 No worries! i do think with dampner was pretty standard with a muted feel, but no hollowness which is nice, no dampner seemed better, but if your feeling is that it's very muted in your experience, then normally it wont drastically improve even if you change things, i think your overall feeling will stay similar, just your own preference on what you expect from a racquet

Would love to hear your thoughts on how this compares to the 2019 Head Prestige MP you reviewed a while back? I would love to try the Gravity Pro and this Clash v2 lineup, but im just concerned about the maneuverability... at least the Gravity Pro has the nice thin beam haha
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
Yeah totally right in the beam, id probably only play well at a lower weight for this - basically Prestige is like on the realm of Vcore Pro HD , even the 310, just very controlled, bit heavier and all, low powered - Clash even i assume the 98 from previous will just be alot more easier to use in all aspects other than manoeuvrability at similar weights

Demo'd this racquet this week and have been impressed in almost every situation. I would say the only area where I was lacking confidence was returning serves. @ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
I'll see how i go if i ever get to hit with the Pro, but I think that the Pro will maybe have a tiny improvement of directional control from the extra cross, but stability, power and plowthrough should be greatly enhanced if i were to guess - given the build and composition should be near identical with the 100

What's the point of a racquet review when the racquet has been so heavily modified with lead tape?
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
It's modified because the racquet came in a lower weight due to quality control , so i fixed it up to play in it's intended spec range - the same would be to review the racquet that's not how it's supposed to be played

Thanks - though you also realize there is quality variance in racquets, and the one i received was underweighted by alot, which also means it would play completely different to the one people would buy - which is the reason for the customization - my review is based on the specs that are closest to what is expected to offer first and foremost

Marginal improvements. This is lies. It’s so depending to each and everyone feel. But one sure thing, v2 looks very hugely. Will skip. It’s not worth upgrading, the improvement is 90% marking 10% racket. And I am generous on the racket side.
@ACTennis

@@ACTennis marginal solftness. The 5RA honestly… This is mostly marketing. I think that even for first timer, they would be better off m with the saving on and take the v1. Even if the v2 was as pretty as the v1. For me this is an upgrade that is a generational marginal marketing journey, maybe v3 will have a real value proposition since the v1.
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
@@BenoitRL They are not going to change anything that is not broken, they are forced to make changes for marketing so that they can sell more, but there is no point to change something drastically that worked well in the first place - of course it's marketing, but that's business, they wouldnt be producing the same racquet for 10 years and stay competitive
@BenoitRL
@BenoitRL 2 года назад
@@ACTennis clearly. But I struggle with « an improvement to v1 » give n’y for thé 98 ans 100 pro, thé racket is worst on serve and volleys (imo). As you said, if you can find v1 at 50% discount, skip v2 and I would add « wait v3 ». If people need a real upgrade from the Clash v1 to get more rounded « stability » throughout, I think it’s not going to be a Clash V2 but maybe a Pure strike or even the Decathlon TR960. Great review but it would be nice to hear you having more judgement on marketing and competitors positioning. I find a little boring across the web that all videos are « it’s an improvement » when it’s really only marginal and in some narrow areas ». Interestingly the racket performs worst in volleys that v1, and no one says « it beats the purpose of the all courtier branding » as an example. I was waiting for the v2, and tried it with 12 strings confinas at the club and I was… yeah… marketing. If anything the price should have dropped 😂
@ACTennis
@ACTennis 2 года назад
@@BenoitRL Appreciate it - to give you an understanding on my review style, it's on the basis that it's a new buyer whos never used the model at all, or if someone is looking at an upgrade, ill point out the marginal differences and let someone decide if thats what theyd be looking for, even before considering the demo - i dont explicit ever say to buy XYZ frame I never mention anything to do with new technology, never describe promotional materials or anything, i just analyse based on the performance infront of me and my past and present experience, that's why i dont discuss about whether it's just the marketing or not, because basically all frames are like that, and no doubt there are always going to be new buyers who want some information Like my Gravity Pro is just an old Speed model but with different drill pattern and slight changes to the composition, but it's still a great racquet, and for those who cant buy the Youtek IG Speed anymore since it's very old Once in a while companies will release something new and actually innovative, but mostly it's few and far between
