Of all the players I wish I could bring back into their prime, it's Wilt Chamberlian.

Its really a joke to say this guy was only great because he played against smaller people... Was he much bigger than most? Yes. Would he still be much bigger than most today? Absolutely

I'm 65 now, and grew up watching the Big Dipper. He and Russell were on nearly every Sunday. I consider myself privileged to have seen the greatest basketball player in the history of the game in his prime. Haven't seen anyone that even comes close since.

He was the best basketball player of all time. I'm 74 and I've seen them all. There is no one on earth like Wilt, now or then. Ya had to see it to believe it. Thanks for this vid....excellent.

Here's my favorite Wilt statistic: In his 142 head-to-head confrontations against Bill Russell, probably the greatest defensive player of all time, Chamberlain AVERAGED the odd double of 28.7 points and 28.7 rebounds. This despite the fact that Russell's Celtics owned a better record against Wilt's Warriors, 76ers and Lakers.

It is almost unfair to compare Wilt Chamberlain with anyone else who played basketball. This man is truly the greatest athlete (not jut basketball player) in the last hundred years.

He was so dominant, they made the following rules because of him....no dunking in collage 3 seconds in lane,offensive interference ,goal tending..moving pic...the greatest of all time

Wilt Chamberlain had the best physical tools of any athlete in the history. Not to say he was the greatest specimen ever - there were specimens that did not compete in todays' pro sports. But in the history of pro sports - Wilt had the best body. Imagine a 7-1 guy running 10.6/7 secs for 100 meters. A 600 IB bench press at his heaviest. Arnold Shwazenegger said Wilt Camberlain and Andre the Giant (wrestler) were the two of the strongest men he ever met. But lets talk about something he's NOT known for. Let's not talk about one of his top 7 qualities. Let's talk about Wilt Chamberlains' passing skills. He may have been the only centre in the history of the NBA to have led the league in assists - which he did ONE year. Phenomenal. And that's not one of his top 10 qualities. A 55 rebound game against the Celtics. A 26 ( yes "26" ) blocks in ONE game against the Detroit Pistons. But what irks me - is that they say he played against Midgets. He played against 6'10, 6,11 and 7,0 tall centres. And he was the most double teame dplayer in history. This means the 6-8 or 6-5 power forward would come and stand next to Wilt. Thus projecting the illusion he was playing "midgets". He wasn't. At 7-1 (conservative estimate) probably closer to 7-2, he makes every one look small. In the same way that Dekembe Mutumbo at 7-2 made every one else look small. But Dekembe Mutumbo was no Wilt Chamberlain. And what centre today has a vertical leap like Wilt? None of them.

This video is the accumulation of my 20 plus years arguing that Wilt is the true GOAT of basketball...very well executed. The measurements making it clear Shaq wasn't dominating Wilt no time ever...the skills, the speed, the athleticism. Who else was blocking Kareem's skyhook? Lead the league in assist, averaged 48.5 minutes PER GAME for a full season...played every minute of every game for a full season...could go on and one... I call Wilt "The Outlier" you can't compare him to other athletes and it makes sense. They should always mention him first when speaking about stats, then say for normal guys here are the records...

55 rebounds in a game against Bill Russell!! I remember the story about his scoring, and someone talked about not passing enough. So the next year he led the NBA in assist. Never missed a game!! Had the shot put record at Kansas? High jump's 6'7!! The guy is a freak.And he was really 7 foot 1 inch. Now they give taller stats to the players now. 6'10 is 7 foot now. When I see him and Shaq side by side, Wilt looks at least an inch taller, and that's when he's 55 years old.

The ONLY reason Wilt is not unquestionably recognized as the greatest player in any sport ever is because of a glaring omission in statistical recordkeeping: Blocks per game were not recorded in his playing career, of which he may well have averaged at least 10 a game for his career.

There is such a misconception that, outside of Russell, Wilt played against smaller and less talented competition than the bigs of the 1980's to the present. Let me put an end to that: Throughout his career Wilt played against Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Nate Thurmond, Willis Reed, Zelmo Beaty, Bob Pettit, Connie Hawkins, Elvin Hayes, Walt Bellamy, Wes Unseld, Clyde Lovelette, Dave Cowens, Bob Lanier, Jerry Lucas, Wayne Embry and ABA stars Mel Daniels and Artis Gilmore (he played against them in the 1972 ABA/NBA All-star game). Just to be clear, those players are the HALL OF FAMERS Wilt played against (I didn't list All-stars not in the Hall from that era such as the 7 ft Walter Dukes). And the height of those Hall of famers averages out to 6'10".

I love how he gripped Shaq's hand up to let him know "kid, you may be that new dominant big guy, but only because you're lucky enough to not be playing against ME." Even Shaq looks like he feels lucky that Wilt wasn't still playing.😂😂

Wilt Chamberlain is perhaps the best athlete I have ever seen. Everyone says Bo Jackson, but Wilt was physically superior in nearly every single way. He didn't have to play Basketball. He could have been anything he wanted. Whether it be Basketball, Football, Soccer, Hockey, Baseball, Boxing, Track, Tennis, or Volleyball. A true one of a kind. I doubt I will even see anyone comparable within my lifetime. LeBron Who?

Got to see the Lakers vs. Blazers during the Lakers 33 game win streak. Even from a distant seat Wilt was the dominant player. He did everything that he wanted to do. A true giant of the sport. No doubt, THE GREATEST of ALL-TIME !!!

Some people assume Wilt threw his weight around like Shaq due to his size and strength, not realizing he was actually a finesse player. An example of this is his short, but great tenure with the Harlem Globetrotters. To my astonishment his signature number, “13” is also the very first one they retired.

I think that the idea of greatest player ever is an interesting conundrum when it comes to basketball, because there are so many great players who were great for much different reasons. Wilt is most likely the single most skilled/talented player to have ever lived. Russell is the greatest teammate in basketball's history. If you need to win, and you need one guy to get you there, MJ is your guy. MJ had a killer instinct like no other. Bird was one of the most, if not the most, clutch shooters ever. It all depends on preference imo. I like a traditional big man, so I prefer Wilt's skill-set over the others in the GOAT conversation.

Anyone who argues any player was great then the Dipper, is simply not in touch with reality.

He could get a 50,000 career points had he compete to the highest level every game. How many times did Wilt gave up a points over an assist, just to silence the critics. What stood behind him and the basket was a single step and boom! During his time, he was on top of the Record books. It was irrelevant to stack up points, than assist title. I would choose WILT over Michael. He personifies the 90's center in one body. A Shaq body, A David Robinson's Agility and defense++++, A Hakeem Footwork (a little less), a hand-eye coordination of a John Stockton a speed of an average point guard. Russell is a defensive player, Wilt is a better defensive player than Russell. What most people dont realize was, wilts free throw was a big problem. It was wilts main job to score so the other team kept fouling wilt and as a result, he cant win championships alone (ref deAndre Jordan). If you give him a team with scorer like the 1971 lakers, easily its the best team on Record. Russell was not on the same plateau with Wilt. After seeing the video, i change my views of my GOAT, It wasn't even close skill wise.

I was only 8 years old, but one of my earliest sports memories is being taken to Convention Hall to see Wilt in his rookie season. He was a local kid, who grew up not far from us, so it was a big thing then.

BTW guys, thanks for your dedication in producing this video. It is enthralling to relive some of these fascinating moments. When I was 13 or 14, we used to emulate these guys all the time. In pick up games this guy would be Russell, that guy would be Earl Monroe.... that time in history was a kind of real magic. Today's young people should have been so lucky as to live in "a time of real giants"

I doubt there will ever be another specimen like Wilt! This legendary man was gifted beyond belief. His speed, strength, stamina, endurance, intelligence, and athleticism made him an incredible beast of a athlete. He only played like 13 seasons. Had he played 20 seasons, he would have scored 45,000 pts, grabbed 35,000 rebounds, and dissed 15,000 assists. This is not mentioning that he would have had about 10,000 blocks. This dude was the badass he was born to be! RIP!
