Wilt was an actual friend of mine in the 80s and 90s.. I befriended me back in 1971 when I was 8.. .. and my Dad took me to every home Laker game in 1972 when they won the Championship and won 33 games in a row... As an adult I bought a place in Brentwood near Wilt and he would pull up outside and I would jump in and we went to Barrington tennis courts and play ( I was a former ranked junior player) He would have been an amazing tennis player if he had practiced more.. I cried when I called his house and a woman friend of his answered and and told me he was dead at the house. I was often there to watch movies and I went with him to pick out new couches and we used my truck to take his old one to my condo- He helped me move it upstairs. He was only 62 .. It fucking sucked. Super fun and chill guy ..

It makes no sense how gifted and athletic Wilt Chamberlain was. And he was not even in his prime at this point of his career. This guy was blessed with so much ability that even with the incredible numbers and accomplishments he achieved, people still didn't think he did enough. The man was a 2 time NBA champion and finals MVP, 4 time NBA MVP and people still thought that he should have done more. There's no doubt in my mind that Wilt would have been great in ANY era.

If wilt had 6 championships, there would be no question on who is the real goat. The man averaged more minutes than the actual minutes of a game

What you can observe here is that nobody on the floor can outright block Chamberlain's shot when he's anywhere close to the basket and about to make a move. If he jumps with intent, he's getting a dunk/layup, or a foul at worst. You can see how such a specimen, in those days, would get 55 rebounds in one game or score 100.

Did anybody notice how Wilt didn't dunk it when number 32 fouled him on his arm, but just dropped it in? He knew he would break Wilkins' arm on the rim, if he slammed it. Chamberlain was so strong that if he wasn't careful, he would hurt somebody bad, without trying to.

Although we only see a few of his 20+ rebounds and close to ten blocks in this game, watching Wilt play defense is a beauty to behold as a bball fan

Wilt was a titan. Playing with both hands taped up. Still put up big numbers.

Unlike any 7 footer, Wilt is built like Lebron as you can see in this video. His body is very compatible to his height with big chest, wide shoulders and thick muscles in the arms, thighs, legs,... With these, he is able to run up and down the court with ease, is quick on his feet and very nimble even for his age here. There is no doubt in my mind that all of the stories about him is true and he is truly the greatest specimen in not only the NBA but sports history.

Wilt weighed as much as 3peat Shaq only it was all muscle. Him, Jordan and Lebron would dominate any era.

If you really know your stuff and can spot it, you only need to watch how Wilt goes about doing little things -like rebounding-to get a glimpse of how utterly unbelievable he was. AND….he goes about everything in an almost lackadaisical way. He was so special. Never seen anyone come close to dominating; simply. Imagine he played later, when every player is encouraged to show-off ? No one would even talk about other players !

It not that theyre SUPER ancient that they dont know what theyre doing or have less IQ ingame, they just lack the full potential of their athleticism, which wilt has and is ahead of his time. Their playstyles are just different from today. They were more on the fundamentals and look, even as hilarious as their forms were, theyre still great shooters even from deep 2 point range thats actually 3s from today

I want to joke about how I'll average 30 in this era but wilt and walt r legends and the 70s was when real competition in the nba started.

When I was a kid all I saw was the all defense all rebound wilt who only took about ten shots a game. I couldn't believe the Wilt the from the 60s everyone talked about was the same guy. Yet here he was at 36 years old still capable of hauling in 29 rebounds and scoring 24 points in a championship deciding game.

The thing I always notice most about watching basketball from the 60's, and 70's is the constant movement, and no flashy business. These guys were going to work, and executed fundamentals of team basketball. All of that flashy crap looks nice, and it gets the crowd excited, but the team game has suffered over the years, especially through the 2010's, and 2020's so far. No matter what sport you watch from the 50's, 60's, and 70's, the team aspect of the sport was much greater, and the sophistication of the game was deeper. These guys were playing chess, not checkers. It's all about getting more high percentage shots than the other team, not some bullcrap analytics that some dude (who never played any sports in his life) came up with based on the value of mid-range shots vs 3-pointers. Analytics doesn't take into consideration the opponents defense, the fact that even the best shooters have cold streaks shooting the basketball, and what a high percentage shot looks like for different players who are more comfortable shooting from specific spots on the court more than others.

I remember watching that game as a kid in 72 and I was 11 years old and was a big time Lakers fan and still is so that bring back memories. The game was so different then and I really enjoy watching those games back then . I don't have that same enjoyment watching NBA like I use to because I feel the game is rigged now and they who have they wanna win seems like.
