I appreciate them all I was just going off of my experience with new marlin. I love an old marlin 336. Haven't ever had experience with the Henry stuff but I have no doubt they are well made firearms
That’s a great gun right there, you should appreciate what you have. They’re not going to make them anymore here in the US. The beauty of it is in its simplicity and sleekness. I love mine
Don't take it apart to clean. Unless you can buy a new one. Their is a big difference between a pre 64 and modern quality fit and finish and shooting . But all Winchester leavers I own never have broken. The Henry,Marlins or copies have Ben sent back to the manufacturer at least once under 20 rounds. I have Early 1900's Winchester's I shoot almost once a month for the past 30 years no problems but they do wear out with heavy use or exposure to the elements. Watch for rust.
I inherited a pre 94 wcf 30 aka 30 30 from my Dad when he passed!! I have had several offers on it BUT i just can't never sell it, I'll be handing it down through the family. It's dated manufactured in 1948.
I have a pre-64 in 32 special. What you bought is a nice rival. Different than what i have but close. My trigger pull is 3-.5#. I think yours is 5# or so. Great hunting rifle for the eastern forest. Be happy, nice gun. #
Nice rifle! I also got my first 94 about a year ago. I paid $650, so you did pretty good. Yours is a pre safety, angled eject model. I believe that makes it very early 1980's production. Mine is top eject with no safety and it's made in 1980. You can look up the year it was made by the serial number. That's a good trade for an AR. Post the serial number, I lll look up when it's made for you. Or even just the first three digits of the serial. Its on the bottom of the reciever in front of the lever link.
I love mine too. You know it's a good design when they made it for over a hundred years! I saw one like yours, a ranger, and someone had it hard chromed and finished the stock in a blond color. It looked awesome
@Aaron Hachenberg ah man I bet so mine has definitely been used its not mint or anything but I had to grab it up for sure. Hard to find a 30 30 in my area
What sight do u go on to see what year it was made mine was made in USA but i think after 1980 brought it with 3 shots fired in it now it's my close range pig a fox gun goats don't like it either
Actually the original lever action was designed by Henry! and the safety is in the lug under the lever, I have owned my model 94 longer than you have been alive! The magazine is in the tube!
I have 5 ,30 30s 4 Winchesters 1 canadian centennial, 1 golden spike 1 pre 64 and 1 I believe is from the 80s my 5 one is a Marlin. I love the Marlin over the Winchester. And love my Winchester 32 special. Your safety is the lever if not pulled all the way to the stock it will not fire
You are going to pay $1000 to $2500 for a new Winchester made in Japan or copies of Winchester's. Browning did not invent the level action. But the locking block togel system on that 94 he did. And that 94 is taped for a top scope. The empties will clear. Glad you are excited about that beautiful gun. I would take any Winchester lever over a Henry, Marlin, copies. Or AR
Easy to adjist windage if the rifle happens to shoot to the left or right by tapping the rear sight with a dowel and hammer . Mark where the point of the rear sight is using masking tape and pen before adjusting. Only takes a hair to make a difference. Have the rifle wrapped in a thick towel to protect the wood stock and metal if using a table or bench. May require several attempts before finding the zero but worth it.
I’ve see two pre 64 model 94 for $1000.00 in the last year that were at least 95 percent, really nice. That is cheaper than a new Japanese one. For the money now the pre 64 are a better deal and can be found if you look. Hell I don’t even see new winchesters in gun stores anymore.
@@JeffWeaver87 yeah six hundred is what they go for now. A rust bucket model 94 is 400.00 now. When I was a young guy those could be had in Georgia for 150.00 all day in pawn shops not any more.
Just bought one today new in box and never been shot for $200. I think I got a good deal, but I can't find much information on the Ranger 94. Mine has a gold trigger and serial starts with 625, I can't find any information for this serial number either. I'm excited to try it out this weekend.
I have a ranger winchester 3030 works fine but I had to file the rear sight v groove down to sight in the open sights. No biggie but it was that way from the factory.
Winchester started making there guns overseas in 2006 and there not the same had one sold it. Older ones are better. I got a henry lever action in 360 buck hammer which is a 30-30 case necked up to 35 caliber is essentially a rebuilt 35 Remington
Awesome dude! Yeah I would always get marlin over winchester but when I got this one it was the only 30-30 I've seen for sale in a long long time so I grabbed it
@@JeffWeaver87 Yeah I’m the same here I prefer marlin over Winchester as well that why I like the Henry’s there kinda like a marlin. A Marlin 1894 in 357 mag was actually my first hunting rifle I still have it I have maybe I think 10 marlins all JM stamped models so there the oldies before the Remington bs
@@JeffWeaver87 Yeah Remington has been sold so many times there quilty is not so good but Ruger Bought marlin now and I just got one of there new 336 and Ruger is definitely doing it 10x better the craftsmanship and they are smooth and shoot and feel like my old marlin! I’m glad Ruger bought them but then Ruger makes some of the nicest rifles especially there Hawkeye series they are gorgeous rifles and shoot amazing!
There is one for sale right now near me 650 im considering it for a new deer hunting rifle. I come from 30/06. Never owned a lever action. The one I am looking at is from thr 80's
The gun you have is an early 1980's production "able eject" model thar because of the angle eject modification to the earlier model 94 design, acomidates the mounting of a scope sight directly over the receiver and bore. Those screw fillers you see on the top of the receiver are there to accept the scope base mounts. You need t learn more about your carbine since there is a lot of erroneous information in your video.
That is a model 94 . The difference in the ranger and the more expensive model 94 is the type of wood used. It's birch or hardwood on the ranger and walnut on the more expensive model 94. Fit and finish is not as good with the ranger.
@@JeffWeaver87 that's not a good comparison. Marlin is a side ejection, this one shoots the shells in your face 😂 plus no room for a scope on this gun.
@juarezderrick9647 this gun looks like is ejects to the top-side. Miroku model 94s will let you bolt a scope to the top. Japanese Miroku models are excellent. Miroku makes fantastic guns.
