Great video Jeff. My only thought was to maybe cover the front door speakers in a tan coloured (or something similar to the leather colour) speaker mesh fabric or paint the speaker mesh covers to match the door trim. The modern speakers look a little out of place in the stunning vintage interior. (My opinion only - your car not mine!)

Fun fact, diodes can pass voltage in both directions, some do it by design. When you exceed the BV (Breakdown Voltage) in the 'wrong' direction, energy will flow in that direction. Diodes with a BV of 14.5v are used in voltage regulators to regulate the output voltage of the alternator to 14.5 volts.

Not everything works out for the best all the time even though you put in the maximum effort, so its that much bettter when it does. Excellent work on these window switches. Its a pleasure to see how well you integrated them as if original. The switch for the passenger side is so logical as well. If its worth doing it once, its worth doing three times.

I was going to recommend 3M strip caulk as well, I've used it for this exact purpose. I assume it's available in Australia at auto parts stores or you can order it online. It stays sticky but isn't a gooey mess, and is handy to have around for sealing around trim studs and other things. It never hardens, I have a box of it that's 15 or 20 years old and it's still good. Look for part number 05878.

The ground goes after the light bulb, you send 12v through the flasher unit and from there the pulsating 12v through the indicator switch where you select which side you want it to go to and then it grounds after the bulb. That is how it should be stock at least.. (like you drew the other schematics of the light bulb 15:15) (they dont always have hazard function stock though.)

Hello Jeff , great job with the window winders . The wiring can be complex when you first look at it . If you have difficulties with the switches then you can use window switches from an old car as they will have the double pole , 3 position layout that you need for bidirectional motor control . It's much simpler if you are using a PDM to control the windows like modern cars and you can set it up to close the windows automatically with the central locking and also auto reverse if the window becomes jammed due to someone's finger in the way.

Those little quarter windows are fab. I used to turn them in the opposite direction and they gave so much fresh air into the cabin on a hot day. #1750GTV Also on new vapour barriers I simply use 3M double sided tape. Yes it goes off over time, but I then simply add more in years time --------- and it's so much tidier than that horrible OEM sticky mastic..... yuck Great circuits. For swapping doors I have used a toggle from wing mirror adjustment - but year the hardest part is always to find switchgear that 'looks right' in the period correct space. Love ya work Jeff @@

Don’t need any diodes , just supply both sides of the warning light. When you put the left indicator on the warning light grounds out through the right indicator and the same happens with the other one , that’s how the factory did it

Clever work on the switches. Make sure the dash bulb has its own earth. Many setups like this don't and rely on the non activated indicator bulb to supply the earth. Clever arrangement but a pain for you. If it is not earthed directly then do so with one lead from the bulb. the other goes to the left and right circuits with diodes inserted as you described. make sure you get the diode direction correct. Anyway I'm sure you'll do whatever you want and then fix the mistakes later. It's how you roll.

Hi Jeff, I am calling from Switzerland and I was wiring a lot of those cars in the past. You can just wire one part of the control light with the right indicator and the other part with the left indicator. The resistance of the indicator bulbs (front and back) is so high that they are not going to light up but you will still have a ground connection through the bulbs. This gives you a closen circuits and the control lamp will light up. Easy as that!
@Mr_Spegru
@Mr_Spegru 4 месяца назад
Yes that's probably how it was originally. Interior bulbs are such low power compared to the actual indicators that when placed in series, only the interior bulb comes on. Would be fine as long as the indicator bulbs are not LEDs as those take almost nothing to light them
@b3nny90
@b3nny90 4 месяца назад
Hey mate instead of the mastick you used for the vapour barrier you would probably be better off with butyl tape. Car builders sell it and it makes life so much better. A lot less mess and crap when you have to pull the barrier off and on as much as you do.

@lotuselanplus2s
@lotuselanplus2s 4 месяца назад
Hi, your diagram might be faulty as per the warning light for the indicator, you have the feeds from the indicators going to the warning light with a ground on the other side. I've never seen it this way, rather there is no seperate ground but instead you get power from the indicator circuit in use with the current going through the other indicator side and through the filament to the ground, the real reason with filament bulbs that both sides dont flash is that the warning bulb is a mich less wattage than the indicator bulbs themselves.

Suggestion: Adding a sprung ball bearing in dead centre and the two up/down extremities would make the movement feel more firm and positive, more 'OEM'. FYI: Car builders Australia do a great vapour barrier kit, with a roll of mastic sealer that looks neater than a squirt from a gun. I've used it and it comes out great.
